Chapter 406 Aaron's Scandal Exposed

Friends were invited, but not all of them came. The Jacksons had something to do and couldn't make it. Caspian and Tom, regulars at gatherings, were both busy. Even Evelyn and Amos, who always attended, were absent today.

A large picnic blanket was spread out on the lush green lawn with various foods. Evelyn, Lillian, and others sat with their children, eating and chatting.

"Evelyn, why didn't Amos come today? Did you two fight? Or did you break up?" Lillian asked, her face full of curiosity.

Evelyn didn't notice her expression and continued eating fruit, saying, "His project is being inspected these days, so he's busy with that."

"What project?" Angela asked.

Evelyn glanced at her and said, "It's a government project my dad won the bid for. He gave it to Amos to handle. What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I was just asking." Angela shrugged indifferently.

Evelyn, not curious about Angela's indifferent attitude, said a bit unhappily, "I know you all don't like Amos and are biased against him, but it's okay. I see his efforts. My dad was worried he wouldn't do well, but Amos has been very diligent. Every inspection has passed, and he's done an excellent job. My dad is quite pleased. He's been especially busy and tired these past few months, and I've seen all his hard work."

"Sometimes, you can't judge a person by their appearance; you have to look at their heart," Angela said bluntly. "Amos is your boyfriend. You know what kind of person he is, so you don't need to tell us. By emphasizing his efforts, what are you trying to prove? Frankly, as outsiders, it's the least we can do not to meddle in your affairs. As long as you know, that's enough."

Wendy nudged her quietly, thinking Angela's words were too blunt.

Evelyn angrily said, "Angela, what do you mean by that? What am I emphasizing? Just because I talk about my boyfriend's efforts, does that mean I have ulterior motives?"

Lillian quickly said, "Evelyn, don't be mad. Angela might have misunderstood you. Don't take it to heart. Angela was just trying to remind you out of kindness."

"Remind me of what?" Evelyn asked with a laugh. "What kind of person my boyfriend is? It's none of your business. You don't need to meddle."

Angela said, "Okay, okay, I said the wrong thing. I apologize, alright?"

"Not alright!" Evelyn stood up angrily and walked away, swinging her arms.

"Evelyn! Evelyn!" Lillian called after her. Seeing she didn't turn back, she said to Wendy, "Go and comfort her."

Lillian then reproached Angela, "Why did you have to make her angry for no reason?"

Angela rolled her eyes, "I just can't stand her. Look at how she talks about Amos, all excited. It annoys me. That guy has already fallen for someone else, and she doesn't even know."

"What's wrong with you? Why are you so angry? Didn't you say it's the least we can do not to meddle? Why are you getting involved in her affairs?" Lillian asked, puzzled.

"I'm not meddling; it's a kind reminder. But she's always so resistant. Who knows what she's thinking?" Angela reflected, "I've mentioned Evelyn's matters three times before. No wonder she's mad at me. But I don't know why, facing Evelyn, I just get angry."

"I think, Angela, you see her as a friend. Just like if Wendy or I were deceived, you'd be furious, right? We've known Evelyn for so long, so naturally, you see her as a friend too," Lillian analyzed.

Angela nodded, "Maybe. I won't say anything about it anymore."

Lillian asked, "By the way, how are things with you and Ivan? You never share your relationship with Wendy and me; we always have to ask."

"Great, just like any couple in love."

"So, you're genuinely invested in Ivan?" Lillian probed.

Angela nodded, "I take every relationship seriously. Although Ivan started as a stand-in for my first love, over time, I don't mind as much. I see him more as Ivan."

"If you can think that way, I'm relieved. I used to feel sorry for Ivan."

Angela laughed and said, "But sometimes, when I look at Ivan's face, I still think of my first love and feel a bit regretful. I haven't completely forgotten my first love."

"That's not good," Lillian said. "I want to see if you'll completely fall for Ivan in the end."

In the living room, after Wendy comforted Evelyn for a bit, Evelyn asked, "Wendy, why does Angela dislike Amos? Did Amos ever do anything to hurt her? I always feel like she's trying to hint at something."

Wendy looked down and said, "I haven't heard of Amos doing anything to her. But, you know, you should be rational in a relationship, right?"

Evelyn looked at Wendy, not catching the underlying meaning, and instead asked about her relationship, "How are things with you and Aaron lately? I saw on Instagram that some entertainment reporters exposed his past scandals. Have you asked him about it?"

Wendy had seen that Instagram post too. It listed many of Aaron's scandals, such as using underhanded tactics to get leading roles, sabotaging rivals, interfering in a famous actress's marriage for revenge, and being gay, well-known in the industry. It was all very shocking.

Honestly, when Wendy read it, she was shaking. If all those hard-to-believe stories were true, it would completely overturn her perception.

When the scandal hadn't yet made a big impact on Instagram, Wendy asked Aaron about it. Aaron, confused, asked back, "Really? No one told me."

Wendy asked, "Are these things true?"

Aaron smiled, "Wendy, in the entertainment industry, framing each other is very common. Some things aren't as simple as they seem; it's very messy and can't be explained in a few words. Don't worry about it. Learn to forget my negative news as soon as you see it. I'll take a few days off from the crew to come see you."

After that, the crew got busy, and the leave was indefinitely postponed.

Wendy told Evelyn, "I asked him, but he didn't say if it was true or not. He just told me not to think about it."

But despite saying that, Wendy still worried for several days.
