Chapter 206 Caspian and Evelyn's Breakup Bash
The next day, Alex swung by the hospital to grab Oscar. Emily, who lived close, tagged along.
As they were about to split, Emily told Oscar, "Take care. I'll swing by to see you."
Oscar, looking all serious, shot back, "Don't bother. We ain't that tight."
Emily just smiled, said her goodbyes, and headed home.
When she got back, Michael grumbled, "Finally back? How many days were you stuck at the hospital?"
Emily, totally wiped out and ignoring him, trudged to her bedroom.
Seeing her all worn out, Michael softened up. "Now that he's out, you're done. Back to school tomorrow."
From her room, Emily replied, "I know. Chill, I've got this."
Sensing her impatience, Michael wisely zipped it and left her alone.
A few days later, on April Fool's Day, it was Caspian and Evelyn's breakup bash.
After breakfast, they got all dressed up and headed to the estate. On the way, Luke asked, "Are Caspian and Evelyn tying the knot? They always bicker."
Lillian explained, "Nah, it's their breakup party, not a wedding."
Luke nodded, "Breaking up makes sense. Evelyn's always on Caspian's case. He won't be miserable anymore."
Lillian sighed, "Even you see it. Evelyn's been too harsh."
"I don't like Evelyn. She's not nice. I like you. You're way nicer," Luke said, snuggling up to Lillian.
Alex, pretending to be jealous, asked, "Luke, don't you like me anymore?"
"I do. You like Lillian. Lillian likes me, and I like you. We're a circle," Luke said, all logical.
This made Alex and Lillian crack up.
In front of Sunset Villa, luxury cars were lined up. Kevin parked, and they got out.
"Wasn't this where we were for Christmas?" Lillian asked.
Alex said, "Nope, this one's bigger."
Lillian replied, "Rich folks have so many estates."
"Do you like it? We have one too. Not just an estate, but a castle. Wanna go?" Alex asked.
Lillian, surprised, asked, "A real castle like in the movies?"
He boasted, "Yep, awesome, right? After the baby is born, we'll crash there for a bit."
Lillian, hearing his jealousy, said, "You're so childish. Just 'cause I complimented your friend."
Alex nodded, "I can't stand you praising other dudes in front of me!"
Inside the estate, it looked like a wedding. Caspian, in a suit with slicked-back hair, looked tall and distinguished, a far cry from his usual playboy vibe.
"Why so late? Theo and the others are already here," Caspian said, giving Alex a warm pat on the shoulder.
He then turned to Lillian and said, "Lillian, you look stunning today."
"What about me, Caspian?" Luke piped up, fishing for a compliment.
"You're a handsome little dude," Caspian said, giving his cheek a playful pat.
Alex asked, "What's with the fancy setup today? What's the deal?"
"Just tying up loose ends, giving myself some closure," Caspian replied, a hint of bitterness in his voice.
"Good to hear," Alex said, giving him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "We'll catch up inside."
In the guest area, Theo, Tom, Jackson, and Nico were already deep in conversation.
Nico saw Luke and smiled but didn't wave him over. Lillian noticed Nico's pale face and said to Luke, "Nico's not ignoring you. She's just not feeling great."
"I know," Luke said sensibly, finding a seat and glancing at Nico.
Lillian sat next to him. Soon, Evelyn came over, looking all cheerful and greeting everyone. She finally said to Lillian, "It's not a wedding, yet you're pregnant and came all this way. Must be tough."
"Tone it down," Lillian whispered. "Look at you, you can't stop grinning. Show some restraint and give Mr. Wade some dignity."
Evelyn scoffed and gestured towards Caspian. "Look, he's more flamboyant than I am."
Not far away, Caspian was shaking hands and chatting loudly.
"I'm enjoying being single again. It's nice to have a few options, you know? No one can control me anymore. Isn't that something to be happy about? I've completely escaped the prison of marriage. It's like being reborn!" Caspian said, laughing heartily.
"He's reborn. Why should I pretend to be reserved?" Evelyn said coldly, doubting his sincerity.
Lillian felt speechless. "You know he's just trying to provoke you and save face. Even breaking up, you two can't do it quietly."
Seeing Caspian laughing so happily, Evelyn felt upset. "I wanted a peaceful breakup, but he insisted on making it grand. I really had to brace myself for this."
Lillian chuckled and teased, "Good luck!"
Guests arrived, filling up the seats. When the time came, the ceremony began.
"I've never seen a break-up party before. Let's see what it's like," Lillian whispered to Alex.
"You can guess," Alex said dismissively.
The procedure was standard. They read their breakup announcements, sang farewell songs, and extended blessings to each other. Without the decorations, it would have been very low-key.
Just as the host was about to announce the end, Caspian suddenly said, "Wait. I have one last thing to say."
