Chapter 431 Parents' Worries
The main room was quite spacious and simply decorated.
Patrick and Jessica sat on the sofa, glanced around the room, and said, "Not bad."
Caspian said, "Jessica, as long as you like it. On the way back, I was worried you wouldn't."
"I'm not that picky," Jessica said. "Take us to the guest rooms."
"Sure thing." Caspian led them to the guest rooms.
One room was for Patrick and Jessica, and the other for Wendy.
"Wendy is afraid of the dark at night; how can she stay in a room by herself?" Jessica said to Patrick. "You should switch with her."
"Of course," Patrick said.
Wendy smiled, glancing sideways at Caspian. Didn't she already know what he was thinking?
Caspian didn't disturb them any further and left.
Wendy unpacked her luggage, hanging her clothes in the wardrobe one by one, and asked Jessica, "Mom, when are we going to Aurora's house?"
Jessica, leaning on the bed, said, "Aurora said we should go over tomorrow when she visited Patrick and me at the hospital last time."
"When Aurora came to the hospital last time, you and Caspian were out, and she asked about you. Be nice to her tomorrow."
Jessica added, "If Aurora asks if you have a boyfriend, you mustn't mention Caspian, understand? Patrick and I haven't agreed to you two dating yet."
"Caspian is handsome and talented, such a good future son-in-law. Why hide it?" Wendy said smugly.
"Well, when you break up, Patrick and I will be awkward," Jessica said sternly. "I don't agree with you two dating, do you hear me?"
"Mom, why do you think that way? Caspian and I like each other."
"High society families have complicated interests. Do you think you can marry him?"
Wendy was silent for a moment and said, "I believe in Caspian."
"But I don't trust him," Jessica said coldly.
Seeing Jessica's resolute expression, Wendy felt a sudden sense of disappointment.
At that moment, Caspian called from outside, "Wendy, I washed some fruit. Come out and eat with Patrick and Jessica."
"We're coming!" Wendy answered loudly.
Jessica waved her hand and said, "I'm tired, not going out. When you go out, call Patrick in; I have something to discuss with him."
"I'll bring it in for you."
Wendy brought in the fruit platter and called Patrick into the room. After delivering the fruit, she went outside to sit under a tree with Caspian, leisurely eating fruit and chatting.
"It feels like resting under a tree when we were kids," Wendy said, sitting in a lounge chair, biting a fruit fork, and swaying with her eyes closed.
Just then, a breeze carrying the scent of flowers blew by.
"Yeah, this is the feeling," Wendy said, opening her eyes and smiling.
Caspian forked a piece of watermelon and fed it to her, asking, "Are we eating at home or going out tomorrow?"
Wendy, chewing the watermelon, said, "My mom just said we might go to Aurora's house tomorrow."
"Then I'll take you there tomorrow," Caspian said. "Do you want to go hiking in the morning?"
"Is there a mountain nearby?" Wendy asked curiously.
Caspian said, "There's a park nearby with mountains and water, and the scenery is quite beautiful. I'll take you there in the morning."
"Great!" Wendy said happily.
Caspian laughed, "Look at you, getting so excited over a small thing."
"Being with you, everything makes me happy," Wendy said, shaking her head playfully.
His heart warmed, and he couldn't help but raise his hand to touch her head.
Wendy ate a few more pieces of watermelon, picked up her phone from the table, and said, "I'll take a picture and post it on New Feed."
"Let's take a selfie this time," Caspian suggested.
"Sure."
After taking the photo, Wendy sent it to him and started editing her New Feed.
For dinner, Caspian's housekeeper made several Atlanter dishes, which were delicious and satisfying for everyone.
"Shall I take you to the market?" Caspian asked.
Jessica said, "The market is too crowded; I don't like the noise."
Seeing Wendy's disappointed expression, Jessica added, "I didn't say you couldn't go! Go ahead, but come back early. And keep some space between you two."
Wendy's face lit up with a smile, and she said happily, "Thanks, Mom."
Caspian also quickly thanked her.
Wendy and Caspian left joyfully.
Patrick asked in confusion, "Jessica, didn't you disapprove of them dating? Why let Wendy go out with him?"
"Now that we're in Atlanter, what can we say? We'll talk about it when we get back to Rihegde. But I guess it won't make a difference," Jessica said, clicking her tongue helplessly.
"Caspian is quite good. It's just his family..." Patrick said with some difficulty.
"Wendy is naive; she can't think that far. High society families have many issues, and I'm afraid Wendy will be bullied."
"Jessica, I heard from Wendy that Lillian married well."
"Wendy also said that Lillian's mother-in-law didn't like her. After Lillian had twins, her mother-in-law's attitude seemed to improve," Jessica said meaningfully.
Patrick patted her hand and said, "Don't think too much. Let's go sit in the yard."
In the bustling market, Wendy held onto Caspian's arm, moving forward with the crowd.
"Why didn't you tell me earlier that you were taking me to the market?" Wendy asked.
Caspian stood behind her, protecting her from the crowd, and said, "If I had said we were going to the market, I was afraid Jessica wouldn't let us out."
"You're quite the strategist," Wendy said, turning her head to tease him.
Caspian didn't miss a beat, leaning down to kiss her on the lips, "I had to think of a way to get out with you."
