Chapter 191 Alexander Coaxes Lillian to Sleep

Seeing Oscar's pale face, Lillian's eyes welled up. She grabbed his hand, gave him a light smack, and said, "You freaked me out!"

Oscar managed a weak smile. "I almost scared myself to death, thinking I was a goner!"

Lillian looked at him with sad eyes. "You must've felt terrible. Just thinking about you struggling to breathe breaks my heart. You've been through so much. I wish I could take your place."

Alexander patted her shoulder. "Oscar's fine now. Cheer up. Stop crying and don't dwell on it. Your emotions affect the baby."

Lillian sniffled. "You're right. I need to think about the baby." She wiped her tears. "Oscar, Emily admitted she pushed you. She'll apologize tomorrow."

Oscar scoffed. "She's reckless. Her apology means nothing. I don't want to see her."

Lillian said, "She almost cost you your life. Apologizing is the least she can do. I told her to stay away from you. She's so annoying!"

Seeing Lillian getting angrier, Oscar tried to calm her. "Don't be mad. She's not worth it."

He noticed something odd. "Lillian, why are you in a hospital gown? You looked off when you came in."

"It's nothing. I got too emotional, and it affected the baby. I'm staying here for a few days to make sure everything's okay," Lillian said. "It's not a big deal."

"If that's not a big deal, then what is?" Oscar got anxious. He coughed twice.

"Oscar!" Lillian said. "You just got out of emergency care. Why are you getting so worked up?"

Alexander gave Oscar some water and patted his back.

"Alexander, I'm fine here. You and Lillian should go back to your room. If I need anything, I'll call the nurse," Oscar said, trying to send them away.

Lillian said, "I just got here. Let me stay a bit longer."

"No, go back to your bed and take care of the baby!" Oscar said sternly, then complained to Alexander. "Alexander, you can't let Lillian do whatever she wants."

Alexander replied, "You just got out of emergency care. Of course, Lillian had to come see you."

"Alright, you've seen me. Now go back," Oscar insisted.

Alexander said to Lillian, "Listen to Oscar. We'll come again tomorrow. We're so close. It only takes two minutes to get here, okay?"

Lillian said to Oscar, "I'll send Alexander over later. Kelly will stay with me tonight."

Oscar said, "Okay, you go up now."

Lillian returned to her room, lay on the bed, and asked Alexander worriedly, "What if someone from the family sees me here? We can't let them know I'm in the hospital for the baby."

"Grandma's on the twelfth floor, you're on the eighth. It's not like you'll bump into anyone. If you stay in bed, who'll see you?" Alexander said. "If you run into Kelly, just say you're here for Oscar. Don't stress about it. Just relax and behave."

Lillian replied, a bit annoyed, "Seriously? When have I ever disobeyed you?"

"Yeah, yeah, you're a good girl!" Alexander grinned and pinched her cheek.

Lillian was used to these gestures and didn't feel flustered anymore.

"Oscar's in the hospital. I need to call Harry and let him know." She picked up her phone and dialed.

Harry was concerned on the call. After getting the details, he said he'd visit Oscar tomorrow.

After hanging up, Lillian felt sleepy again. She yawned. "Go to Oscar and have Kelly come over. I want to sleep."

Alexander had just finished a call. "I'll go after you fall asleep."

Lillian got up to wash up. "I'm not a kid. I can sleep by myself. Go keep Oscar company."

Alexander said, "I just praised you for being good, and now you're not listening again."

Lillian brushed her teeth and said, "I'm just thinking about you getting some rest. You've had a long day too."

Alexander stood beside her, squeezed some toothpaste for himself, and teased her through the mirror, "Thanks, babe. I'm not tired. I'll go to Oscar after you fall asleep."

Seeing his stubbornness, she compromised, "Alright, I fall asleep quickly anyway."

Lillian lay in Alexander's arms, her heart racing, making it hard to sleep.

She opened her eyes, glanced at the clock, and coughed lightly. "Alexander, it's been half an hour. I can't sleep."

Alexander, pretending to nap, smiled mischievously. "Are you pretending to stay awake so I won't leave?"

The VIP hospital bed was wider than a regular one, so they weren't cramped.

Hearing this, Lillian lightly punched his chest and laughed. "Who's pretending? Don't flatter yourself."

Alexander's eyes suddenly opened, and he pulled her closer. "Am I flattering myself?"

Lillian pressed against his chest, nervously licking her lips under his intense gaze. "I misspoke."

She thought, 'Please don't look at me like that. I can't handle it.'

Alexander looked at her red lips and couldn't help but kiss her. This time, Lillian didn't panic but responded passionately.

After the kiss, Alexander gently held her face, stroking it with his fingers and smiling with his eyes, silently gazing at her.

Lillian couldn't stand his gaze any longer. She covered his eyes with her hand and whispered, "Don't look at me like that!"

"Why?" Alexander didn't remove her hand, letting her cover his eyes.

Lillian said, "Your eyes are making me blush. I can't handle it."

Alexander chuckled, took her hand, kissed it, then held her in his arms, stroking her hair, and said emotionally, "Lily, you're so cute!"
