Chapter 130 Shae Reports for Duty

The next day, Lillian made a point of rising early, tidying herself up, and heading to the kitchen.

"Kelly, what's for breakfast this morning?" Lillian asked with a smile as she entered, "I'm making some pasta for Alexander today."

Kelly smiled back and asked, "Why do you want to make him pasta?"

"Of course, it's because I make him angry. I did something wrong, so I need to do something for him," Lillian replied, finding the pasta and then going to the fridge for the ingredients.

Kelly stood by, watching with satisfaction. "It's good that you think that way. But Mr. Sinclair drinks borscht every morning. Will he eat pasta?""He should eat it. He loves the pasta I make," Lillian said confidently.

Kelly took off her apron and said, "Alright, then you cook. When Alexander returns from his morning exercise, I'll call him to eat."

Lillian quickly cooked the pasta, not adding cilantro this time, and placed it on the dining table. After finishing, she hurriedly drank a bowl of borscht, ate two muffins, grabbed her bag, and left the house. Just as she left, Alexander entered the dining room.

"Mr. Sinclair, Lillian says she makes you angry and gets up early to make you some pasta to apologize. She doesn't even put cilantro in it," Kelly said with a smile, "Lillian is much more considerate than when she first arrived."

Alexander looked at the pasta on the table and couldn't help but smile.

He sat down at the table and asked, "Has she left?"

"She just left," Kelly replied, "She made you pasta this morning and didn't even have a proper breakfast herself. She eats quickly and then leaves."

Alexander picked up a forkful of pasta and took a big bite. It tasted just as good as before.

Seeing him eat, Kelly didn't say anything more and went back to the kitchen with a smile.

When Lillian arrived at the company in the morning, she first handed in her assignments to Kaitlyn. Although she had returned to Sinclair Villa last night, she had diligently memorized what she needed to. Kaitlyn was very satisfied.

"Kaitlyn, I noticed a few secretaries in the executive office today. Do you transfer them here?" Lillian asked curiously.

"Yes, and the new interns will be arriving today as well. Once the interns pass their probation period, we'll observe them for a few more months. The secretaries transferred from other departments can return," Kaitlyn explained.

Lillian said, "I hope this batch of secretaries is reliable."

As they were talking, someone suddenly approached with a cheerful voice. "Kaitlyn, good morning. I'm the new intern secretary, Shae, reporting for duty."

'Shae?' Lillian looked up in surprise, thinking, 'Why is she an intern secretary?'

Kaitlyn stood up and said, "I'll take you to the executive office first."

Shae followed Kaitlyn, remembering to glance back at Lillian with an ambiguous smile.

Lillian was a bit stunned. 'Is Shae here as an intern secretary because Alexander wants her to be, or is it Kaitlyn who hires her?' As she pondered this, Alexander arrived. She quickly stood up and greeted, "Mr. Sinclair, good morning."

Alexander stopped in front of her, scrutinizing her, and asked, "Why are you so absent-minded this morning? What are you thinking about?"

Lillian looked at him and said, "I'm not thinking about anything. I'm just a bit surprised that Shae is here as an intern secretary."

"Is Shae here as an intern secretary?" Alexander seemed equally surprised. "Where is she?"

"She's with Kaitlyn in the executive office. Don't you see them when you come in?" Lillian asked.

Alexander glanced in that direction and then quickly walked into his office. Lillian slowly sat down, observing his recent behavior, which seemed to indicate he was unaware of this matter. Shae's arrival as an intern secretary undoubtedly added pressure to her heart. A woman's intuition was the most accurate. Shae's gaze at Alexander was filled with ambition, the kind that sought to pursue him. Her coming here as a secretary must have been part of a well-thought-out plan. Although her marriage to Alexander was a sham, she couldn't shake the feeling of her territory being infringed upon. She wanted to defend it.

Shae greeted everyone in the general secretary's office and was assigned a seat next to Shirley. Another intern, named Olivia Harrison, who had a straightforward personality, was seated opposite Shirley.

Kaitlyn spoke up, "The executive office has undergone many changes this time. I hope everyone can quickly get through the adjustment period and work together harmoniously."

"Shirley, make Mr. Sinclair a cup of black coffee," Kaitlyn instructed before turning to leave.

Shae quickly grabbed Shirley, who was just about to stand up, saying with a smile, "Shirley, I'll do it." Without waiting for a response, Shae walked to the coffee room.

Shirley scoffed and let her go.

Shae made the coffee and headed toward the president's office. Seeing that Kaitlyn was not around, she stopped and softly called out, "Ms. Hill?"

Lillian looked up at her and smiled, "Are you bringing coffee to Mr. Sinclair?"

"Ms. Hill, we'll be colleagues from now on. Please help me out," Shae said with a smile that seemed insincere.

"That's my duty. It would help if you went in. The coffee will get cold," Lillian replied.

When Shae entered the office, Lillian leaned back in her chair, feeling irritated. She hated the contemptuous look Shae gave her, which made her extremely uncomfortable. Lillian was merely Alexander's 'contract wife' and shouldn't have to endure such looks. Unhappy, she decided to discuss this issue with Alexander when she got home that evening.

"Mr. Sinclair, your coffee," Shae said, gently placing the coffee on the desk. Mr. Sinclair, is there anything else you need?"

Alexander paused his work and looked at her sternly. "Shae, does your family know you're working at the Whale Group?"

"I don't tell them. They don't care what I do," Shae replied indifferently.

Alexander said, "This job isn't suitable for you. You should leave now."

"Why? I haven't even started yet. You can't say I'm not suitable for this job," Shae protested, dissatisfied. "I don't use any tricks to get in. Kaitlyn hires me based on my own merits. I am suitable for this job."

Alexander looked at her quietly. "I don't care how you got in. In my view, you're just not suitable."

Shae pouted and said, "Alexander, stop making excuses. You don't want me working with your wife, so you think I'm not suitable for this job. Our workstations are far apart. We won't intersect. Don't worry. I won't tell anyone about your relationship."

Alexander remained indifferent. "That's not what I meant. Shae, the Whale Group is not a place for you to play around. If you want to work and experience life, go to Caspian's company and do whatever you want."

"Alexander, I've told you many times, I'm not playing around. I genuinely want to work here. Give me a chance. I'm serious!" Shae said earnestly.
