Chapter 338 Evelyn Met Amos

After finishing their meal, Evelyn and Caspian left the restaurant.

Before Evelyn got into the car, Caspian called out to her and reminded her, "Don't let your father's words go in one ear and out the other. Be more alert in everything you do so you don't get taken advantage of.r."

"Why are you just like my father nagging endlessly?" Evelyn waved her hand impatiently and got into the car.

Caspian watched the car speed away and sighed heavily, "You'll regret it later!"

Meanwhile, not only was Caspian investigating Amos, but Angela did. She had hired a private detective to dig up everything about Amos.

[Look at this douchebag!] She posted the detective's photos in the group chat. [He is cheating!]

Wendy saved each photo and asked: [What else did the detective find out?]

"He's been with this woman for quite some time now. I guess he's just after Evelyn's money and will run off once he gets it. It's a shame Evelyn has such bad luck, being targeted by him," Angela said in a voice message.

"Angela, we can't let Evelyn be deceived," Wendy said anxiously.

"Don't rush. Evelyn is so proud; you have to let her see it for herself to believe it. I'll arrange something." Angela said.

Lillian said also in a voice message, "At first, I thought Evelyn had found a good man, but it turns out he's a jerk."

Wendy said, "Angela, thank you for even spending money on a private detective."

"How can I deal with him without understanding his background? He even dares to threaten and intimidate you! Wendy, don't be afraid of him. If he dares to speak rudely to you again, I'll put him in his place," Angela said fiercely.

"Angela, you're amazing!" Wendy shouted.

A couple of days later, Wendy invited Evelyn to lunch in the afternoon. Without hesitation, they went to a newly opened restaurant.

"Ms. Phillips, I came here with Lillian yesterday. The food is amazing; you have to try it." Wendy said as she got out of the car with Evelyn.

The floor-to-ceiling windows showed a packed restaurant inside.

"This place is popular," Evelyn said as they walked in.

"How long is the wait?" Wendy asked the waitress.

"About forty minutes." the waitress replied.

"Ms. Phillips, it's a forty-minute wait. Do you mind?" Wendy turned to ask Evelyn.

But something seemed off with Evelyn at that moment. Her eyes were fixed intently on a certain table, her chest heaving, fists clenched, and jaw tightly set, not uttering a word.

Wendy followed her gaze and exclaimed, "Isn't that Mr. Dalton? I thought he was on a business trip. When did he get back? And who is that woman sitting across from him? Why is he wiping her mouth so affectionately?"

Evelyn closed her eyes and was about to rush over, but Wendy stopped her. "What are you doing?" she said angrily. "I have to confront him!"

Wendy dragged her to a secluded spot and whispered, "Ms. Phillips, if you confront him without evidence, he could easily turn the tables on you. Let's sit nearby and observe them for a while, listening to their conversation."

Evelyn took a few deep breaths and realized that Wendy was right. She then went to the waitress, intending to pay extra to sit closer to Amos. As luck would have it, the table right behind Amos had just been vacated, and they were promptly escorted there by the waitress.

The seating in the restaurant consisted of back-to-back booths with high backs dividing them. Evelyn and Wendy turned around slightly as they walked past Amos and took seats behind him. The restaurant was bustling, making it difficult to discern their conversation. After they ordered, the waitress left.

Evelyn stared at the booth back, her anger rising.

Wendy leaned over and whispered, "Ms. Phillips, I'll secretly take some photos of them as evidence."

Evelyn sneered, "No need for that. We'll ask the restaurant manager for the surveillance footage, so we can know everything they did."

Wendy gave her a thumbs up. "You're amazing!" Then she asked, "But will they show it to us?"

"With money, they will show us?" Evelyn said with a smile from extreme anger.

"Ms. Phillips, it's too noisy to hear what they're saying." Wendy leaned in, trying to catch snippets of their conversation.

"Don't bother." Evelyn looked at the dishes being served and said coldly, "He's cheating. I'm not stupid. Let's eat first."

Wendy was taken aback by her quick change in attitude and ate absentmindedly. "Ms. Phillips, don't worry, I won't tell anyone about this."

"Thank you," Evelyn replied, her tone cold and unreadable.

Amos and the woman ate slowly, while Wendy and Evelyn finished their meal. The two were still eating.

"Wendy, this restaurant's food is really good. No wonder it's so popular!" Evelyn touched up her makeup and said, "Let's go back to the office." As they stood up, Amos and the woman also finished and were about to leave, leading to an unexpected face-off.

"Evelyn." Amos's face showed panic. "What are you doing here?"

Evelyn glanced at the woman beside him and sneered, "So this is whom you're cheating on me with?"

"What did you say!" The woman angrily stepped forward, ready to fight.

Wendy stepped in front of Evelyn, glaring at the woman, "What are you trying to do?"

"Evelyn, this is a misunderstanding," Amos said, reaching for her hand, but Evelyn pulled away.

"Wendy, let's go." Evelyn grabbed Wendy's hands and walked out quickly.

Amos tried to chase after them, but the woman held him back, sneering, "Let her go. She won't forgive you after seeing us like this."

"How could that be? All my previous efforts would have been in vain!" Amos said unwillingly.

"She looked like she won't forgive you." the woman said, swaying her hips as she walked away.

By the time Amos came running out, Evelyn's car was already long gone. Frustrated, he ran his hands through his hair, ignoring the woman, and got into his car, heading straight to the studio.

"Ms. Phillips, are you okay? Perhaps I should drive instead." Wendy asked softly.

Evelyn looked at her and asked, "Wendy, this place is far from both Lillian's and our office. Why did you come all the way here for lunch?"
