Chapter 238 Everyone Plans to Go to the Villa for a Trip

Leah happily returned to the store, where Shae was examining a handbag.

"Shae, I'm back," Leah said cheerfully. "Alexander gave me his card so I can buy this bag."

Shae smiled and said, "That's great. So, do you want this color?" She held up the bag and asked.

"Yes, you have good taste. I like what you picked," Leah said, taking the bag and heading to the cashier.

Shae followed behind, standing next to her, and casually asked, "Aren't you going to buy one for Lillian?"

"Why should I buy her one? I don't like her at all," Leah replied, pouting.

Shae said, "Leah, you might not like to hear this, but no matter how much you dislike her, she's still Alexander's wife. Alexander supports her, so you should get along with her."

Shae laughed lightly and said, "Otherwise, do you still want to ask Alexander for money in the future?"

Leah thought for a moment and realized Shae was right. 'Before Alexander got married, I could do whatever I wanted, but now it's different. He has his family, and his wife and kids are his priority. I'm his sister, and asking for money will be more challenging. If Lillian speaks ill of me to Alexander, it would be even harder.'

Leah said, "You're right. Alexander's money is hers now, too. I shouldn't have a bad relationship with her."

"You're just realizing this now!" Shae laughed. "Then hurry up and pick a bag for Lillian."

Following the sales assistant's recommendation, Leah browsed around and ultimately chose a timeless black square bag priced at over ten thousand dollars.

While paying, Leah said disdainfully, "I bet she never carried such an expensive bag before marrying Alexander."

"Things are different now.," Shae said. "Let's go. I'll treat you to something tasty."

"What should we eat? How about some pasta?" Leah asked.

Shae agreed, "Sure, let's go."

In the restaurant, Lillian was eating steak and noticed Alexander frowning slightly. She curiously asked, "Honey, are you thinking about Leah and Shae?"

Alexander snapped out of it and said, "Why would I think about them? I was wondering if I should buy you some fried chicken on the way home. But I can't remember the name of the place."

"Poor memory," Lillian said faintly. "I don't want fried chicken now, so don't buy it."

She added, "Were Leah and Shae close before? They seem to get along well, shopping together."

"They shouldn't be close," Alexander replied helplessly. "I really don't know how they shop together."

Lillian guessed Alexander felt the same as she did, that Shae was someone who wouldn't go away and always seemed to appear in their lives.

However, Alexander thought differently. He thought, 'Shae and Leah's close relationship isn't simple. Leah is naive and easily deceived, and I don't want Shae to take advantage of her.'

Thought it over, 'If I'm overthinking it and if they are just friends.'

Suddenly, his phone chimed with a message from Leah: [Alexander, I bought a bag for Lillian, too. Are you still at the mall? I left it at the service desk.]

Alexander replied: [Got it.]

After finishing their meal, they went to the first-floor service desk to pick up the bag.

"Did Leah buy this for me?" Lillian was pleasantly surprised. "I didn't expect that."

"Take it. Leah used my money to buy it for you," Alexander said with a laugh.

Lillian responded, teasing, "Well, thank goodness for your card."

When they returned home with gifts for Kelly and the others, everyone was happy. Lillian then suggested a trip to the lodge at the end of the month, which made everyone even more excited.

"Oscar, invite Emily to join us," Alexander said to him.

Oscar replied, "Inviting her? She's not really our friend."

Alexander said, "Invite her. She took care of you when you were in the hospital."

Oscar retorted, "However, you already gave her a gift. I know I owe her, but I don't want her in my life."

Alexander said, "It's up to you."

Oscar stared at his phone screen, his fingers unmoving for a long time.

The end of the month arrived in no time.

It was a sunny day with a gentle breeze, perfect for an outing. The day before, Lillian had added everyone on the trip list to a group chat and announced the lodge trip. Emily was included, as Oscar felt it would be wrong not to invite her.

Emily asked in the group chat: [Lillian, are we staying one night or two?]

Lillian replied: [If it is nice, we'll stay for two nights.]

Emily replied: [Great! I'm packing for the trip.]

Evelyn then asked Lillian: [I might arrive a bit late tomorrow, and I'll be bringing a friend.]

Before Lillian could respond, Caspian asked: [Who? Is it male or female?]

Evelyn replied: [Is it any of your business?]

Caspian didn't respond for a while, probably logging off.

Lillian chuckled as she packed, watching the group chat where everyone was discussing what to do and what food to bring. Everyone was as excited as kids. Surprisingly, the only real kid, Lucas, was calm and not as enthusiastic as expected.

Alexander curiously asked, "You don't seem very happy. Don't you want to go?"

Lucas shook his head and replied, "Of course, I want to go, but it's just a trip to the lodge. Why is everyone so excited? It's not as if we haven't been there before."

"Oscar and I haven't been there!" Lillian explained. "Everyone is happy for a reason. Kelly and Melvin are thrilled to get a break. Caspian is excited to see Evelyn. Tom is eager to see Angela, and Emily is likely happy because she'll see Oscar. Everyone is excited about this trip because they all have someone special to look forward to seeing!"

"Oh, I see. You guys are weird. I don't get it," Lucas said quietly. "It's as if you never see each other."

Alexander laughed and said, "You're right. It's because we don't see each other often that we're so happy to meet this time."

"Alright, I'm done packing. Let's go to bed early so we have energy for tomorrow!" Lillian said, playfully patting Lucas.

"Yeah, I don't want to waste my hard-earned break," Lucas muttered to himself, obediently heading to his room.
