Chapter 122 Shae Anderson Returns

Alexander descended from upstairs and drove away.

Kelly curiously asked Lillian, "Lillian, does Alexander go to the company?"

"He doesn't say he is going to the company. Maybe he's gone to see some woman," Lillian said with a hint of jealousy.

"He wouldn't do that. Don't let your imagination run wild," Kelly diverted her attention, saying, "The weather is really nice today. It's almost March, and it's starting to warm up."

Lillian looked at the clear blue sky and smiled. "Kelly, when it gets warmer next month, let's take Luke on a spring outing."

"Sure," Kelly agreed readily.

Around ten in the morning, Lillian went out. She took the subway to 'Global Bistro.'

As soon as Lillian sat down, she saw Michael coming in and quickly waved her hand.

"Ms. Hill, you are very punctual. I might have to wait for you," Michael joked.

Lillian smiled awkwardly. "I have an appointment with Michael, so naturally, I can't be late. I have a strong sense of time."

"Not bad," Michael nodded slightly, taking the menu handed over by the waiter.

Lillian also had a menu. As she flipped through it, she said to Michael, "Michael, this meal is to thank you, so don't be polite."

"Don't worry. I won't be," Michael said. Then he pointed to the menu and told the waiter, "I'll have this, this, and this, and a cup of coffee to drink."

Lillian thought to herself, 'he really isn't being polite. I am not afraid of spending money, but it was the first time she had met someone so casual and at ease. Well, it is also because I only have a few connections and have met a few people.

"Ms. Hill, you have good taste. The place you chose is nice," Michael said, looking around the restaurant and complimenting her.

"Michael, As long as you like it. What do you like to eat? I always feel that you CEOs are all gentlemanly and elegant, so I think French cuisine won't go wrong," Lillian said.

"If you say that, Ms. Hill, you might be disappointed. If I have to choose between French cuisine and grilled fish, I'd prefer the latter," Michael replied.

"Is that so? Then I made a mistake," Lillian said with a forced smile, "I'll have to treat you to grilled fish next time."

Michael smiled faintly and asked, "What hobbies do you have, Ms. Hill?"

"I don't have many hobbies. I like playing with my phone and drawing," Lillian replied.

"It is not bad. I like playing with my phone, too," Michael said.

The waiter brought the ordered dishes, Michael and Lillian ate and chatted, gradually finding topics to talk about and becoming less awkward.

At the airport exit, Alexander waited quietly. Among the crowd, a familiar figure suddenly appeared, running towards him with joy.

"Alexander!" Shae Anderson ran up and threw herself into Alexander's arms.

Alexander politely patted her shoulder, helped her up, and asked with concern, "You must be tired after such a long flight. Are you tired?" He took the suitcase from her hand. The two walked out.

Shae lightly held his arm, saying coquettishly, "I am exhausted after a ten-hour flight, but seeing you, makes me feel instantly refreshed."

Alexander gently pulled his arm away and patted her head. "Get in the car."

Shae smiled and saw Kevin by the car, greeting him warmly. "Kevin, it's been a long time since we've seen each other."

"Good to see you, Ms. Anderson," Kevin said, taking the luggage to the trunk.

Shae returned to her homeland and took a deep breath of the air. "It feels so good to be back!"

In the car, Shae sat very close to Alexander and said to him, "Alexander, I don't want to go home."

"Don't you want to go home?" Alexander asked, "Then where do you want to go?"

Shae gave him a playful smile and said, "You and Amy had an apartment before. Can I stay there?"

Alexander looked at her in confusion. "You should stay at home first. Your father said that this time you came back, he doesn't want you to leave again. You need to think about your future."

Shae didn't say anything, looking unhappy, and said, "He wants me to come back for an arranged marriage, Alexander. I don't want that."

"I can't help you with that." Alexander smiled and gently removed her hand from his arm.

Looking at the face that bore a physical resemblance to Amy he deeply loved, Alexander couldn't help but think of her. 'Amy, if you were still alive, we would have children by now.'

"Alexander, are you thinking about Amy again?" Shae asked, noticing his dazed expression.

Alexander nodded, looking at her, and said, "Your eyes are very similar to Amy's, very clear and lively."

A trace of sadness flashed in Shae's eyes. She forced a smile and leaned closer to him, saying, "You can think of me as Amy."

"Stop it. Sit properly," Alexander pushed her back to her seat and said lightly.

Shae stopped being playful and obediently sat in her seat, looking out the car window with a sense of weariness and helplessness, as if she had been deeply hurt.

Suddenly, she asked, "Are you happy with your married life?"

"It's fine," Alexander replied.

"Is Lillian pretty? Is she prettier than me?" Shae asked.

"You both have your unique charms," Alexander asked.

Lillian and Michael finished their meal and left the restaurant.

"Ms. Hill, where are you going? I'll give you a ride," Michael asked.

"Thank you, Michael, but there's no need. I still want to go shopping," Lillian replied.

"It's no trouble. Get in the car," Michael said.

Lillian had originally found an excuse, but she couldn't refuse and felt embarrassed to decline, so she obediently got in the car.

In the afternoon, Lillian shopped around the mall and then went to the underground supermarket to buy some things before heading home.

"Lillian, you're back." Luke and Oscar were playing in the yard. Seeing Lillian return, they quickly came over to greet her and took the shopping bags from her hands.

"Lillian, what do you buy?" Oscar and Luke looked like two little gluttons peeking into the bags.

"Besides groceries, it's all your favorite snacks." Lillian looked around the yard and asked, "Has Alexander not come back yet?"

"No." Oscar and Luke went into the house first.

After dinner, Alexander returned. Lillian noticed he looked a bit heavy-hearted and tired and gently asked him, "Have you had dinner?"

Standing at the foot of the stairs, Alexander looked at her. After a few seconds, he said, "I have." Then he went upstairs.

"What's wrong with Alexander? I've never seen him so down before." As he went upstairs, Lillian watched his back and shook her head.

She got up and went to the kitchen, saying, "Kelly, Alexander is back, but he seems off, looking very down."

"Is he out of spirits?" Kelly thought for a moment and said, "He's fine. Don't worry. He'll be better tomorrow."

Lillian curiously asked, "Is something wrong?"

Kelly sighed and looked at her, saying, "That's Alexander's emotional knot."
