Chapter 374 Attack
The next day.
Caspian went downstairs to the breakfast shop to buy breakfast. Just as they finished eating, Marcus arrived with a wheelchair and crutches.
"The wheelchair is remote-controlled. Come on, give it a try." Caspian helped her sit down.
It was Wendy's first time using such a device, but after trying, she got the hang of it. She treated it like a remote-controlled car, spinning around the living room.
Molly found it fascinating too and ran behind, barking all the while.
During the excitement, the doorbell rang again. It was Celeste Miller, the psychologist for Wendy.
"Wendy, this is Celeste, your psychologist," Caspian introduced.
Celeste, gentle and mature, smiled and greeted her, "Hi, Wendy."
"Hi," Wendy thought to herself, 'No wonder she's a psychologist; her smile alone can make people feel at ease.'
Caspian said, "You two take your time with the session. I'll be in my room."
He then asked Marcus to go to his supermarket and bring back various fruits, vegetables, meats, and some snacks that girls like.
Meanwhile, abroad.
On a straight highway, Alexander was driving with Lillian in the passenger seat and Lucas in the back. The three of them were singing a local song they had just learned.
On the day they arrived, they went to the best viewing spot and saw the aurora. It was the first time for Lillian and Lucas, and they couldn't stop exclaiming, "It's so beautiful!"
Today, Alexander planned to take them to a museum. The museum had a long history and was a famous attraction.
"Honey, I didn't know you had a house here. If I had known, I would have come sooner," Lillian said, smiling as she looked out the car window. "I like it here."
"I like it too," Lucas quickly added from the back. "Lillian, those grilled lamb chops were so delicious." After saying that, Lucas couldn't help but lick his lips.
Alexander glanced back at him and said, "If you like it, we'll have it again tonight. Lily loves desserts, so we'll have those too!"
Lillian turned around and high-fived Lucas, laughing happily.
Just as the three were enjoying themselves, the car was suddenly hit hard from behind, causing them to lurch forward.
"Honey, what's going on?" Lillian asked in fear, quickly turning to Lucas, "Are you okay?"
A flash of terror crossed Lucas's face, but he tried to stay calm, "Lillian, I'm fine."
"Sit tight!" Lillian said, then looked out the rear window to see the car behind them closing in. Another loud crash followed.
Alexander glanced in the rearview mirror and said to Lillian, "Honey, hold on." He stepped hard on the gas and sped away.
Lillian nervously swallowed and asked, "Are they the people sent by Beatrice and Blake? What should we do? David and the others aren't here!"
For this trip, Alexander had deliberately left the bodyguards behind to give Lillian and Lucas a perfect travel experience.
Alexander, with a serious expression, said, "I've been keeping an eye on the situation back home. They haven't made any moves. These people aren't from them."
"Then who could it be? Amy?" Lillian guessed wildly.
Lucas cautiously looked back. The car behind was very close, ramming them repeatedly. The driver, with the beard, looked familiar. Lucas frowned, trying to recall.
"Uncle Alexander!" he suddenly shouted, "I remember now!"
"What?" Alexander asked in a deep voice.
Lucas said, "The people behind us are after me! That driver is a bodyguard from Dylan Crawford's family. I saw him at my grandfather's place before!"
"What? Their target is you. What do they want?" Lillian asked in disbelief.
Lucas, sounding like an adult, said, "What else? They want to kill me!"
"Lucas," Lillian said, taken aback by his casual tone, not knowing what to say.
It was a desolate road with few people around. The two cars sped down the highway, one chasing the other.
"Uncle Alexander, should I call my father?" Lucas asked.
Alexander, remaining calm, said, "Your father is back home. Calling him now won't help. Don't worry, we're almost in the city. Once we're there, they won't dare follow us."
Lucas looked back again and saw the person in the passenger seat raising a gun, aiming at them.
"Uncle Alexander! They have a gun!"
"Get down!" Alexander said quickly, pushing Lillian's head down further.
Lillian trembled with fear. She didn't want to die; she had children to raise and a life to live with Alexander.
"Honey, be careful!" Lillian looked up at him, crying.
Alexander, one hand on the steering wheel, patted her head with the other, trying to sound relaxed, "Don't cry. I'll grill meat for you tonight when we get home."
Lillian gently tugged at his shirt, holding back her tears.
Alexander's car swerved left and right but still got hit a few times. Fortunately, it was a bulletproof car, so they weren't hurt. However, the tires were hit, and although they hadn't burst yet, they were slowly deflating. He had to make it to the city before they went flat.
Fortunately, Alexander, with his calm and determination, managed to drive into the city. A police patrol car was parked by the roadside.
The car chasing them immediately turned around. Lucas exclaimed, "Uncle Alexander, they turned back!"
Lillian, hearing this, instantly relaxed and asked, "Really? Did they leave?" Then she fainted.
When she woke up, it was already evening. A warm yellow light filled the room, creating a cozy atmosphere.
From the bathroom, she heard Alexander on the phone, presumably with Jackson.
"Dylan can't wait any longer! Lucas is with me, and he dared to send people to kill him!" Alexander said angrily. "Jackson, you can't just wait around!"
"David and the others will arrive tomorrow. Lucas and Lily are both shaken. We'll rest here for a day and head back the day after. We'll talk when we get back."
Alexander came out of the bathroom and saw Lillian awake. He quickly walked over, sat by the bed, took her hand, and said tenderly, "Honey, I'm sorry for scaring you again."
Lillian, feeling wronged, first called out, "Honey!"
Then, unhappily, she said, "We finally got to go out with Lucas, and we got attacked! Luckily, we were lucky enough to escape safely!"
"I didn't expect it either. They've been watching us for a while. Not bringing bodyguards this time gave them the perfect opportunity."
Lillian curiously asked, "Why does Dylan want to kill Lucas?"
