Chapter 207 Lillian thought Shae was ridiculous

The host handed the mic to Caspian.

Caspian grabbed it, standing tall and chill. His eyes naturally found Evelyn, and he flashed a faint smile. Then, he looked at the crowd and joked, "Just to clear things up, breaking off the engagement with Ms. Phillips wasn't me dumping her. Don't buy into the rumors."

"We know! You got dumped!" Tom shouted, making everyone crack up.

Caspian, caught out, just grinned and nodded. "Yep, I got dumped."

The crowd shared a knowing smile.

"I fell for Evelyn when I was a teenager. Now, I'm middle-aged and still haven't married her. Clearly, rational Evelyn doesn't love me. We're like parallel lines that never meet. I've let go!" Caspian said, sounding resigned.

Evelyn stood to the side, frowning slightly, wondering why he was saying all this.

Caspian paused, then stood tall and said, "So, I'm single again. If any single ladies are interested, please contact my secretary. I'm eagerly waiting."

'What? Is he trying to find a new girlfriend?' Evelyn thought, mocking him with a stern face.

Lillian chuckled bitterly. "I thought Mr. Wade was going to say something heartfelt. I even prepared tissues. And he says this? Looking for a new girlfriend? Did I hear that right?"

Alexander wasn't surprised. Caspian always did unexpected things and never said anything serious.

Theodore complained, "Caspian really knows how to stir things up! Saying this in public while Evelyn is still here."

"I think Caspian did it on purpose," Jackson said with a smirk, crossing his legs.

Hearing this, Lillian looked over. His mischievous smile was quite similar to Luke's.

"Everyone, enjoy the food and drinks!" Caspian finished his speech, and the long table on the other side was already filled with a buffet.

"Lillian, I'm hungry and want to eat something." Luke stood up.

He then asked, "Can you come with me? Uncle Alexander told me I should always ask you first before doing anything with you."

Lillian smiled at Alexander and said to Luke, "Sure, let's go get some food." She took Luke's hand and headed to the buffet.

Nico watched them for a while, then turned to Alexander and said gratefully, "Alexander, thank you. Luke has been so well-behaved under your and Lillian's care. I'm really happy."

Alexander modestly replied, "Luke has inherited the good qualities of you and Jackson. I'm just adding a little extra."

He added, "Earlier, Lillian and I took Luke to see Dr. Thompson. Dr. Thompson said he's changed a lot and found motherly love in Lillian, which has made a big difference. And he can sleep on his own now. Isn't that great?"

Nico, eyes brimming with tears, asked excitedly, "Really? Does that mean he's gradually overcoming his psychological shadow? Luke is truly amazing."

Despite his poor communication skills, Jackson was happy and calm. He thanked Alexander sincerely.

Then he turned to Nico and said, "Mr. Turner told you not to get too emotional. Stay calm."

Alexander asked, "How's Lillian's friend's medical skill? I don't see much improvement in Nico's condition."

Jackson replied, "Her skills are fine. The treatment started well, but Nico wasn't cooperating, and some recent events caused a relapse."

Alexander nodded, "Since there are results, continue the treatment."

Jackson told Nico, "See, Alexander says to continue the treatment. You should listen."

Nico sighed, nodded indifferently, and looked for Luke in the crowd.

Luke, being considerate, ate a little first, then filled a tray with pastries and brought it back to Alexander.

"Uncle Alexander, I brought this for you all. You can eat while chatting," Luke said thoughtfully, making everyone happy and full of praise.

Lillian was also hungry. She took some pasta, a few desserts, and a glass of juice, planning to find a nearby table to sit and eat.

"Having a baby really makes a difference. I'm starting to get hungry more often," Lillian muttered to herself, setting down her tray at a table.

"Mrs. Sinclair," Shae called out, holding a tray. "Can I join you at this table?"

Lillian was surprised to see her. She hadn't noticed her earlier and wondered where she had come from.

Shae smiled and sat down, answering Lillian's unspoken question, "I wasn't feeling well earlier and was resting in the lounge. It's normal that you didn't see me."

Seeing Shae's smug smile, Lillian knew she was here for her. To protect her unborn baby, she instinctively wanted to avoid her.

"Ms. Anderson, sorry. I don't like sharing a table with others. You can have this one. I'll go back to Alexander," Lillian said, making Shae's face darken.

Shae chuckled, poking at her chicken with a fork. "Living with Alexander, you've picked up all his habits. Do you really think that marrying him makes you part of the elite?"

Although Lillian usually felt inferior in front of Alexander, she wouldn't show it in front of Shae. She had to appear strong.

"Now that I'm married to Alexander, I'm Mrs. Sinclair of the Sinclair family, the wife of the CEO of Whale Group, and the future matriarch of the Sinclair family. Aren't these titles a symbol of my elite status? Ms. Anderson, do you have a misunderstanding about what it means to be elite, or are you simply unfamiliar with life in elite circles?" Lillian calmly and softly countered Shae's mockery.

Shae laughed dismissively. "You sure know how to boast. What good are those titles? Do you think Alexander truly loves you? It's just because of the baby. Without the baby, you're nothing!"

Lillian sneered. She and Alexander had already deeply discussed their issues and understood each other's thoughts. She wouldn't get angry over Shae's provocations. Instead, she found her words quite laughable!
