Chapter 307 Moving Out
Alexander furrowed his brow, looked at her in surprise, and asked, "Who told you that? Amy?"
Lillian said, "She just told me in the supermarket. Honey, is it true?"
Kevin, who was driving, heard this and nervously glanced at the rearview mirror, concerned for Alexander.
"No," Alexander said calmly. "At that time, my father did say that the first one to have a child, whether it was Blake or me, would get his shares. Nico was already pregnant then. Honestly, I didn't care about my father's shares at all, and I despised the idea of using a child to exchange for shares."
"Then why did you marry me?" she asked, puzzled.
"How should I put it," Alexander pondered for a moment before continuing, "One of the main reasons was that I had no intention of getting married at the time, and my mother kept pushing me to marry. Coincidentally, you came into my life that day. I didn't want to compete with Blake for the shares, but I also didn't want to make things easy for them. So, I married you to spite them."
"So, I was just a doormat?" Lillian laughed. "Did you think, 'Amy is dead, I don't want to marry again, my mother is pushing me, so I'll just bring someone home to keep her quiet and annoy Blake at the same time'? Is that right?"
Alexander thought for a moment and then nodded heavily, saying, "Yes, that's exactly what I thought."
"You're quite honest," Lillian said, feeling a bit speechless after his admission.
Because of his "have the best of both worlds" idea, her life had been forcibly changed. Not that she was being hypocritical, she was living a good life now, but it was because Alexander had fallen for her. When he didn't like her, her life wasn't that great.
But if you asked if she was angry, she wasn't that furious anymore. It seemed like time had diluted everything. Fate played a crucial role in their being together, and perhaps this was their destiny. So, she couldn't say for sure if she was angry or not; it was a complicated feeling.
"Honey, I promised I wouldn't lie to you again, I keep my promises.," Alexander said, putting his arm around her shoulder and speaking to her tenderly. "I did think at the time that what I was doing was absurd. I was relieved that I had set the marriage term for a year."
He smiled sheepishly and then changed the subject, saying, "Luckily, we fell in love. Maybe God wanted us to be together in this way."
Lillian let him hold her and lazily said, "We already have kids, it's too late to say anything now."
"Honey, are you still upset with me?" Alexander asked tentatively, with a fawning smile on his face.
Lillian laughed, "I wouldn't say I'm mad. You did forcefully change my life, but you also gave me a great life. The merits and demerits cancel each other out, so I forgive you!"
To be honest, Lillian's lack of resentment surprised Alexander, not even a bit of a tantrum.
"Honey, you're magnanimous," Alexander praised. "You're beautiful, have a great temperament, and possess a good character. Marrying you was really lucky for me."
"Stop flattering me!" Lillian said with a smile, then told Kevin, "Mr. Martin, let's go to the fried chicken place."
"Yes, Mrs. Sinclair," Kevin replied with a smile. He had been quite nervous just now, but seeing the couple not arguing, he breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but praise Lillian in his heart.
After returning home, Lillian distributed the fried chicken she had bought to everyone. Then she changed her clothes, washed her hands, and went to the nursery.
The two babies were already asleep. Looking so adorable in their slumber that Lillian's maternal love overflowed. She couldn't help but kiss one and then the other, even at the risk of waking them up, and then kiss their little hands and feet.
Alexander leaned over the crib, seeing her endless kisses, and pulled her down, whispering, "That's enough. What if they wake up?"
"They won't unless they're hungry," Lillian said, holding the baby's hand and kissing it again.
"Honey, I love them so much, with all my heart!" Lillian said, clutching her chest with emotion. "I'm willing to give everything for them and protect them for life. I want to be their super mom!"
Alexander, feeling a bit displeased, asked, "What about me? How much do you love me?"
"Not as much as them! Right now, in my heart, you're not as important as they are," Lillian replied, leaving no room for doubt.
Alexander furrowed his brow, then relaxed and said helplessly, "Alright, I accept reality."
Seeing his aggrieved look, Lillian snuggled into his arms and said sweetly, "Honey, don't be upset. The boys are my top priority, but you're their father. So, by extension, you're also my top priority, right?"
Alexander tapped her nose with his finger, a smile spreading across, and said, "You always know how to sweet-talk me."
"No, you three are equally important, okay?" Lillian said, giving him a big kiss on the cheek to comfort him.
After spending two days organizing things at home, the family moved to Tranquil Haven Estates over the weekend.
Standing in front of a four-story villa, Lillian looked up and said, "This is impressive. Honey, being with you has broadened my horizons."
"Wait until you see inside, you'll like it even more!" Alexander said, taking her hand and leading her inside.
The house was decorated with grandeur and style, reflecting the owner's high taste.
"Honey, I love this house!" Lillian felt like she was dreaming, only in her dreams had she seen such a grand and luxurious villa.
"As long as you like it. Your comfort is the top priority."
Kelly and Gina were busy directing the workers on where to move things. Lucas was dashing up and down the stairs, and Oscar was looking around. Meanwhile, Heather and Patricia took the babies to the nursery first.
"Our room is on the second floor. The kids' room is right next to ours," Alexander said. "Let's go up and take a look."
"Let's take the elevator, it's convenient," Lillian said, pulling him in.
The nursery was large and colorfully decorated, like stepping into a fairy tale kingdom.
"I love this nursery," Lillian said, very satisfied.
The two babies lay in their cribs, staring at the toys hanging above them, looking completely dazed.
"Babies, isn't your father great? He prepared such a beautiful room for you. You need to grow up quickly."
Suddenly, Lucas came in excitedly and asked, "Uncle Alexander, which room is mine?"
"You and Oscar are on the third floor, okay?"
"Yay!" he said and quickly left.
Alexander shook his head with a smile and said to Lillian, "It's the weekend, so I thought it would be nice to have everyone over for some fun."
