Chapter 329 My Wendy

After finishing eating and drinking, the women left the table first and went to the nearby living room to chat and drink tea.

Through the partition, Wendy could see the men in the dining room. She sat on the side, her eyes occasionally glancing over there. She had just sent a message to Caspian on Facebook, but he hadn't seen it and was still drinking like there was no tomorrow.

Wendy looked at Caspian with a heavy heart. She knew he was in a bad mood; every time Evelyn showed up with Amos at their gatherings, he was never in good spirits. Drowning his sorrows with alcohol might be childish, but it was the only way to ease his pain. She rested her chin in her hand and let out a long sigh, for Caspian and herself.

"Wendy, have some tea," Angela poured her a cup of tea.

Evelyn, her face flushed from drinking, lost her usual coldness from the workplace and curiously asked, "Wendy, why do you look so down? You were quite lively when we were playing Texas Hold'em just now."

Wendy smiled faintly. "Nothing, just feeling sleepy after eating."

"Then go to sleep. I'll ask Melvin to take you upstairs," Lillian, who was chatting with Patricia on Facebook, looked up and said.

Wendy waved her hand and said, "I still want to chat with you all. I'll drink more tea to stay awake." She picked up her teacup and, under the pretense of drinking tea, glanced at Caspian again.

Ainsley had taken Lucas upstairs to rest early. Lillian heard Patricia say that Henry and William needed to drink milk and sleep, so if they wanted to video chat, it had to be now. She quickly agreed, got up, and pulled Alexander to a room on the first floor.

Connecting the video call with Patricia, Lillian saw Henry and William lying on the bed looking around, finally fixing their gaze on the phone screen.

"Henry and William, it's time to sleep. Good night," Lillian spoke in the video.

Alexander, drunk, looked at the kids on the phone and chuckled foolishly. "Henry and William, look at me."

Lillian glanced at him and said with amusement, "In your current state, Henry and William probably don't recognize you."

Although Henry and William didn't understand anything yet and couldn't speak, seeing them on the phone eased Lillian's longing a bit, even though it hadn't even been 24 hours since they parted.

Lillian ended the video call, turned to look at Alexander lying on the bed, and persuaded, "I think you've had enough. Stop drinking."

"I'm not drunk," Alexander said with a smile, eyes closed, and pulled her into his arms.

Lillian placed her hand on his chest, her head resting on his arm, and asked playfully, "What are you doing?"

"Playing dumb!" Alexander said, flipping over and pinning her beneath him. "Honey," he called her softly, his eyes filled with affection.

Lillian wrapped her arms around his neck, tilted her head, and asked playfully, "Why are you calling me?"

"I love you, so much!" Alexander's sudden confession made Lillian slightly surprised but very happy. His gentle lips, mixed with the scent of alcohol, kissed her softly.

After some time, there was a hurried knock on the door, accompanied by Tom's mischievous question, "Alexander, are you done with the video call with Henry and William? If not, they won't be able to sleep!"

With their moment interrupted Alexander shouted angrily at the door, "Mind your own business! Get lost!" After shouting, he cupped Lillian's face with both hands, ready to continue.

"Alexander, Caspian is calling you. Should I ask him to come over? Then I'll get lost first," Tom laughed and left.

The mood was ruined, and Lillian lost interest. She frowned, pushed Alexander off, sat up, and said, "Go out quickly. If he comes in, who knows what he'll say."

At that moment, the door was forcefully pushed open from the outside. Caspian stood at the door, looking at them talking, with a seemingly disappointed expression on his face.

"What kind of expression is that? What did you think we were doing? You came in without even knocking." Lillian glared at him and said irritably, "With one leg injured, you still got here so fast!"

Caspian shrugged and laughed. "I just wanted to join the video call with Henry and William. Who knew you would finish so quickly."

Lillian snorted and left the room with Alexander.

The men continued drinking, and the women continued chatting, all enjoying themselves.

Wendy was absent-minded, always glancing at Caspian.

Suddenly, there was the sound of dishes falling in the dining room. They looked over and saw Caspian covering his mouth, looking around as if searching for something.

Wendy understood immediately and blurted out, "Where's Caspian's crutch?" Without waiting for a response, she quickly went over and helped Caspian to the bathroom.

"Serves you right! Drinking so much!" Wendy patted his back and scolded him, "Feeling down and hurting yourself, drinking too much damages your liver and stomach. Do you not realize some people care about you?"

"Who cares?" Caspian washed his mouth, propped himself on the sink, looked at her in the mirror with deep eyes, and asked slowly.

Wendy blushed, mustered up the courage, and said, "I care! So what? Can't I? I'm your friend too. Can't I care as a friend?"

"Indeed, you are the best to me!" Caspian smiled gently at her in the mirror. Just as he was about to continue, he felt nauseous again and lowered his head.

Wendy instinctively continued to pat his back, but her mind went blank. His words echoed in her ears, making her blush with both shyness and joy.

A secret crush always led to wild thoughts, and Wendy was no exception.

After returning from the bathroom and seeing that Evelyn was not around, Wendy quietly asked Lillian and Angela, "Caspian said, 'I'm the best to him,' what does he mean?"

Lillian said, "Why did he say that? What's with the ambiguity?"

Angela said, "It probably doesn't mean anything. I think he just said it casually. Don't take it too seriously."

Wendy responded blankly, "Really?"

Angela, not wanting to hurt her feelings further, gave Lillian a look, signaling her to speak.

Lillian thought for a moment and agreed, "I think Angela is right. Caspian often goes to clubs and bars, so he probably just said it casually to make you happy. Don't take it seriously."

Wendy dared not hope for more and couldn't help but heave a deep sigh, feeling that Angela and Lillian's words were indeed right.
