Chapter 223 Lillian Knows About Oscar's Assassination
Lillian hung up the phone, still feeling uneasy, pacing around the living room.
Kelly walked over with a glass of juice. "Lillian, didn't Mr. Sinclair say he's with Oscar? Don't stress."
Lillian shook her head, frowning. "Kelly, something doesn't seem right. Why did Alexander take Oscar out? I have a bad feeling about this."
Kelly patted her shoulder. "Let's get some fresh air and wait for them to come back, okay?"
Lillian looked at Kelly, anxious. "Oscar will be okay, right?"
"He will be. Next time, we should get Emily's contact info. If something happens again, we can hit her up," Kelly suggested.
"Emily?" Lillian said excitedly. "I have Michael's number. I'll call him and ask if Emily's back."
She scrolled through her contacts, walked outside, and dialed the number.
"Yes, I think it's the lady's brother."
"I heard she is pregnant. If she finds out that her brother was stabbed, what will she do?"
"Exactly. I heard the stab wound hit a vital spot. He might not even survive!"
Two older adults walked past, whispering.
The call hadn't connected yet, but Lillian overheard them. Shocked, she quickly approached and grabbed one of their arms. "What were you talking about? Say it again!"
Just then, the call connected, and Michael's voice came through. "Ms. Hill."
Anna Scott and Susan Gray were startled by her red eyes and didn't dare to speak.
Michael asked again, "Ms. Hill?"
Lillian panicked, shaking Susan's arm. "What happened to him?"
"Your brother was stabbed and has been taken to the hospital," Susan replied.
Michael had already handed the phone to Alexander. Hearing Susan's words, Alexander's face turned grim. "Honey! Talk to me!"
Lillian gripped Susan's arm, trying to stay calm. "Are you sure it was my brother? What does he look like?"
Susan nodded. "I'm sure. I live behind your house. I see you two all the time. Your brother has a girlfriend who visits him every day, right?"
Lillian's vision blurred, and she swayed.
"Lillian!" Kelly, who had been talking to Melvin inside, came out and saw what was happening.
Susan pushed Lillian into Kelly's arms. "It has nothing to do with us. We didn't say anything."
The two older adults hurried away.
"Lily! Lily!" Alexander's voice came through the phone, anxious and angry.
Kelly supported her. "Talk to Mr. Sinclair first."
Lillian put the phone to her ear, crying. "You lied to me! What happened to Oscar?"
Hearing her finally speak, Alexander sighed in relief. "Don't worry. Oscar's in surgery. We don't know much yet. You and Kelly head back home now, and I'll call you as soon as I know more, okay?"
"No! I can't just sit here doing nothing! How did Oscar get stabbed? Which hospital are you at? I'm coming over now!" Lillian shouted, tears streaming down her face.
Suddenly, she clutched her stomach, wincing in pain.
Kelly asked nervously, "Is your stomach hurting?"
Seeing Alexander stay silent, Lillian snapped, "You don't want me to go, right? Fine, I don't want these kids either. My stomach hurts, so I'll just let it happen. I don't want these kids!" She cried, punching her stomach.
Kelly quickly stopped her. "What are you doing!"
Lillian had always been obedient around Alexander, never causing a scene. Today, she was desperate. Otherwise, he would never let her go to the hospital.
"Mr. Sinclair, just let Lillian go. How can she stay calm at home? If anything happens to the kids, it's better to be at the hospital, right?" Kelly pleaded.
Alexander sighed. "Don't cry! I'm not stopping you. I'm just discussing it with you. I'll ask David and the others to bring you here."
Lillian's crying turned to sobbing. "Where was Oscar stabbed? Is his life in danger?"
"No, he's fine," Alexander reassured.
Lillian ended the call, clutching her stomach, standing there in pain.
Kelly said, "Let's go back first."
Lillian trembled. "Kelly, I think I'm bleeding."
"Hurry back." Kelly led her back, muttering, "You act recklessly, and now you're scared?"
"I won't miscarry, will I?" Lillian cried out in fear.
Kelly snapped, "I don't know!"
David and the others got Alexander's instructions, drove two cars, and slowly left the yard.
Anna and Susan, who had seen them leave, peeked out from the corner and then took out their phones to make a call.
"They know now. Lillian was crying and making a scene, even punching her stomach. They didn't suspect anything. This little task was easy," Susan whispered into the phone.
Anna's phone beeped with a message notification. "The money's in."
"Good!" Susan said cheerfully and ended the call.
In the car, Rena smiled at Beatrice. "Mom, now you can relax. Lillian's kids probably won't make it."
But Beatrice said solemnly, "It's not a sure thing yet. I'll only be relieved when the kids are really gone."
Rena said, "Mom, Oscar's in big trouble. It's a huge shock. If he doesn't make it, let's wait and see the show!"
Beatrice didn't say anything, thinking, 'Hopefully.'
In the two cars, Lillian and Kelly sat in David and Larry Garcia's car, with the other two bodyguards following in another car.
"David, drive faster. I'm fine," Lillian kept urging, her hands nervously twisting together.
