Chapter 313 Amy Goes to the Doctor
Love always comes unexpectedly.
Wendy, who had never been in a relationship from childhood to adulthood, could tell that this was not just being moved; above that, there was the truest feeling of heart-pounding excitement.
Caspian nonchalantly said, "In that situation, as a man, I need to protect you."
He continued in a lecturing tone, "This time, let it be a stern lesson for you. See if you dare to do it again!"
"I don't want to drive anymore," she pouted.
"That's not what I mean, I am just asking you to drive more slowly in the future." Caspian extended his arm and tapped her forehead.
"Don't just stand there, hurry up and feed me the food." He opened his mouth wide, like a hippo waiting to be fed.
Wendy was amused by his behavior and laughed, feeding it to him.
After breakfast, the three of them had to go to work.
Before leaving, Wendy reminded Caspian, "Marcus is on his way here. Don't worry, if you need anything, just press the call button. I'll come over after work."
"Why are you coming over? nothing is going on, just go home after work," Caspian said impatiently, waving his hand.
Wendy said, "I have to come visit you, otherwise I won't be at ease." She slung her bag over her shoulder and said, "I'm leaving now, you should get some more sleep."
Leaving the hospital, the three of them waved goodbye and went their separate ways.
Wendy arrived at the studio a bit earlier than usual. As she passed by Evelyn's office, she saw that Evelyn was already there, on the phone.
She stood at the door, quietly watching Evelyn's back, and thought of the phone conversation she had overheard last night with Amos. Should she tell her? Without evidence, would Evelyn believe her?
Wendy was very conflicted.
Evelyn finished her call and turned around to see Wendy standing at the door. She said with a slight smile, "Good morning, Wendy. Do you need something?"
"No, Ms. Phillips," Wendy said nervously. "I'll get to work."
"Alright," Evelyn replied cheerfully, humming a tune softly.
Wendy glanced at her again and then turned to walk to her office and she thought to herself, 'What would Evelyn's reaction be if she knew Caspian was hospitalized? She would visit him, right?'
On Monday morning, the outpatient clinics were crowded, even the psychiatry department had all its seats filled with patients.
Amy, with her legs crossed and arms folded, said irritably, "You tricked me into coming here, what do you mean by this?"
Jared smiled apologetically and said, "It's been a long time since your last check-up, right? I guess at least six months. That's not good. You only know to take your medication, but you also need to ask the doctor if you need to change it. What if you're getting better and don't need such a high dose? It would be a waste to take it. So, we need to ask the doctor."
Amy was very resistant to seeing a doctor. She felt that her illness was a humiliation and always reminded her of past events. But facing Jared, she controlled her temper unusually well. During those dark days abroad, he had stayed up with her night after night, and she didn't want to lose her temper with him.
"Amy, please go to Consultation Room 2," the robot called her name as it passed by.
Jared said, "Let's go, it's our turn. Don't be nervous, your condition isn't severe, it will be fine."
The doctor was Jared's elder, Samuel Barnes. After some pleasantries, he began examining Amy. After a detailed inquiry and examination, Samuel glanced at Jared and said to Amy, "Don't be afraid, you're doing well."
Amy's tense face relaxed a bit upon hearing Samuel's words and she asked, "Am I fully recovered?"
"There is some improvement, but it's not cured," Samuel said. "This kind of illness requires systematic treatment and medication. Even then, we can't guarantee a 100% cure. Your condition isn't severe, so I suggest you come to the hospital for systematic treatment. It would be better."
"I don't want to be hospitalized! I feel like I'm cured! My mind is very clear!" Amy's emotions were a bit agitated.
Jared quickly soothed her, saying, "Amy, no one said you have to be hospitalized, don't be nervous."
He asked Samuel, "Uncle Barnes if she doesn't get hospitalized, should she continue taking these medications?"
Samuel looked at the bottles on the table, picked one up, and said, "I don't know where she got this medication, but although it has a calming effect, the side effects are significant. Long-term use will worsen her condition and cause severe brain damage. She shouldn't take it."
Jared thoughtfully took the bottle and looked at it. Then he packed up the other medications and said to Samuel, "Thank you. I'll ask my father to treat you to a drink another day."
"Let's go," Samuel said with a smile, then lowered his voice and said, "Your friend's condition will worsen the longer it's delayed. I think she has a mental block. You might try a different approach to help her overcome it, which could be more effective."
"I got it, thank you," Jared said, taking Amy away.
On the way back, Amy vented her anger on Samuel, cursing his medical skills.
"You want me to be hospitalized? Are you kidding me? I'm already cured!" Amy hit Jared on the shoulder and warned, "I'm telling you, this is the last time. If you dare to bring me to see a doctor again, don't blame me for cutting ties with you!"
"Cutting ties is a bit much. Amy, you can't ignore my concern for you!" Jared said with a smile, but his heart ached for her.
"See, it's a good thing we came. Samuel reduced your medication, so taking one less pill is also a form of improvement."
Amy said, "You can reduce any medication, but not the one Samuel mentioned because I feel particularly good after taking it, the effect is great."
"I see," Jared said, not daring to refuse directly for fear of upsetting her. He said tactfully, "Let's discuss it when we get home. I'll take you to work first."
The car stopped in front of Harmony Jewelry, and Jared accompanied her out of the car.
"I'll pick you up after work and take you to eat Mexican food," Jared said with a slight smile, as considerate as her boyfriend.
Amy raised an eyebrow and asked, "You want to eat Mexican food?"
Jared had never liked Mexican food. She had been craving it for days and wanted to go with him, whether sincerely or as a prank, he was happy to oblige, even if he didn't like it.
"Of course, it's all up to you," Jared joked.
Amy tilted her head slightly and smiled at him, looking nothing like someone with a mental illness. Jared couldn't help but touch her face, his eyes full of tender affection.
