Chapter 366 The Birth Mother Arrives

Caspian listened and gave a helpless smile, "You've been abroad all this time, what could you have seen? Besides, if she doesn't smile at me, doesn't that mean she never liked me? I've come to terms with it, why are you still standing up for me?"

"Just angry!" Tom said indignantly, "I can tell, you still like her! And you say you've moved on, but don't be stubborn. You can't let go that fast."

In the private room, Evelyn and Amos came out, followed by Lillian.

Caspian hesitated to speak and stayed quiet.

Tom laughed and said, "Good riddance! I won't have to deal with you anymore!"

"Tom, you're drunk and not thinking straight. When you sober up tomorrow, see how Evelyn deals with you!" Caspian sympathetically patted his shoulder and said, "Come on, let's go back in."

Tom hiccuped and pretended to vomit. Caspian quickly pointed him in the right direction and said, "Go, the restroom is over there!"

Evelyn called for a designated driver to take her and Amos home.

On the way, she asked irritably, "What did Tom mean by that? What kind of scandal have you been involved in? He sounded so sure!"

Amos hurriedly explained, "Honey, ever since I took on Joseph's project, I've been so busy every day. How would I have time for any scandals? Do you believe what a drunk says?"

Evelyn frowned deeply and said, "My father was willing to give you this project because I persuaded him for a long time, even cried and made a scene before he agreed. Do a good job and don't embarrass me!"

"Honey, don't worry, I'll do my best."

After making his promise, Amos pondered for a moment and said to her, "Evelyn, you shouldn't bring me to these gatherings anymore. I feel like they all have a grudge against me. Honestly, I don't even know what I did to offend them."

"Ignore them! I won't go to these gatherings anymore either, they're too boring!" Evelyn was still angry at Tom and sat there with a sullen face.

After the holidays, life returned to normal.

Lucas came back from Jackson's place and seemed much more mature. Waking him up in the morning wasn't a struggle anymore. Even though it was winter break, Lucas still had to attend tutoring classes, so it wasn't easy for him.

Samantha took Leah back to Sinclair Villa, feeling reenergized and with a different spirit.

Before leaving, Samantha said to Lillian, "In a few days, we're going to a gathering where everyone brings their grandchildren. You should come with me and dress up nicely."

"Mom, the kids are still young, it's not suitable to take them to such events," Alexander refused before Lillian could speak.

But Samantha said in a tone that brooked no argument, "Lillian and the nanny will be there, what could happen? Everyone else is bringing their grandchildren, so why shouldn't I? Beatrice is pregnant, and can't I show off my two grandkids?"

Lillian tugged at Alexander's sleeve and smiled at Samantha. "Mom, the babies are a bit older now, it's good for them to meet people so they won't be timid when they grow up. I'll wait for your call."

Back in the living room, Lillian said to Alexander, "Honey, Leah told me that people in the high society are saying that the baby Beatrice is carrying isn't Ethan's. It sounds very credible and could affect the Sinclair family's reputation. Shouldn't you do something about it?"

Alexander looked at his tablet and sneered, "If they don't mind being laughed at, let them make a fuss. Even my grandparents can't control it, who would listen to me? Let's just live our own lives well."

Lillian thought this matter was not as simple as it seems. But she couldn't do anything about it either, just like he said, let them deal with it themselves.

She checked the time and said, "Kevin isn't here today, don't forget to pick up Lucas. What extracurricular classes did you sign him up for? When do they end? I want to take him on a trip."

"Where do you want to go?" Alexander asked.

Lillian said, "I asked Lucas the other day, and he said he wants to see the Northern Lights. I promised him."

"Then I'll ask his teacher today when the classes end, and I'll arrange things at the company so I can take you guys on a trip."

"Great!" Lillian happily hugged his neck and said joyfully.

Alexander asked, "We'll be gone for several days, won't you miss the kids?"

"We'll just have to video call them." Lillian knew she would miss the kids, but she also wanted to give Lucas a happy winter break.

As they were talking, the doorbell rang, and Kelly went to answer it.

"Mr. Sinclair, the guard says a lady named Smith is here to see you."

Lillian was stunned and looked at Alexander, asking in surprise, "How did she find us? It must have been Aunt Lisa who told her!"

Alexander said, "Since she's here, let her in."

She nodded, "I'll go upstairs and ask Oscar."

The security guard brought Clara in. She was a well-traveled person and didn't show any exaggerated expressions at the sight of the mansion. She handed the gifts she brought to Kelly.

She spoke to Alexander gently and politely, "Mr. Sinclair, we meet again. I hope you don't mind my unannounced visit."

"You're too kind." Alexander invited her to sit down.

Clara didn't see Lillian and asked curiously, "Isn't Lillian home?"

"She's upstairs, she'll be down in a moment."

Clara smiled slightly at Alexander, her eyes showing a fondness for him as a younger person.

"How are you and Lillian doing? I don't know much about her, can you tell me about her?" Clara asked eagerly.

Upstairs, in Oscar's room.

Lillian asked, "Are you not going down?"

"I don't want to see her." Oscar looked out the window stubbornly.

Lillian sat beside him and said with some distress, "I don't know how to face her either. She feels like a stranger, yet there's a subtle sense of kinship that makes me want to connect. But when I see her, I don't know what to say. She'll keep asking us questions. I'm so conflicted."

Oscar turned his gaze back to her and said, "Lillian, you should go down. I know you've always wanted to know about her. Don't force yourself because of me."

"Oscar, I hate her too. But how should I put it, she came back to find us, at least she didn't forget about us. I want to give her a chance."

"Lillian, don't try to persuade me, just go down. I want to be alone for a while." Oscar leaned back on the bed, staring blankly at the bare trees outside.

Lillian took the elevator down. Before stepping out, she exhaled to relax herself, trying not to look nervous.
