Chapter 394 Aaron Is Here
Wendy pretended to be relaxed and said, "Since he agreed, I'll give it a try. What if we end up together?"
Caspian said, "I've known Aaron since we were kids. The Carter family in Ridgewood relies on his grandfather. What kind of wife Aaron wants is up to his grandfather. Aaron might just be acting on a whim or have other reasons. I advise you not to get too emotionally involved, or you might get hurt."
"You don't approve of me dating Aaron?" She was silent for a moment and then asked softly.
Caspian thought for a moment and said, "It's not that I don't approve. I just think you're not quite right for him."
Wendy lowered her eyes, "I was born ordinary. Among your friends, I'm not suitable for anyone."
"No, you're misunderstanding me again."
Caspian started to explain but was cut off by Wendy, "I understand what you mean. Don't say anything more. Everything you say just upsets me."
Caspian was stunned but obediently kept silent.
Wendy sent a message to Lillian on Facebook: [Why haven't you come down yet?]
Lillian replied, [Wendy, William, and Henry woke up and are looking for me. You go ahead and make something to eat. I'll come down after I settle the kids.]
Wendy, feeling helpless, got up and went to the fridge. She found some burgers, took them out, and heated them in the microwave.
She brought the plate over, sat in front of Caspian, and started eating on her own.
The aroma was mouth-watering. Caspian had only been drinking and hadn't eaten much. He said, "Heat one for me too, I'm hungry."
"Do it yourself," Wendy said, taking big bites without moving.
Caspian said irritably, "My legs are weak from drinking. Can't you just help me out?"
Wendy put down her burger, rolled her eyes at him, and said unhappily, "Why are you drinking so much? You're an adult, so you should know how to take care of yourself! If you drink yourself into a stupor, who's going to take care of you?"
Caspian couldn't wait any longer. While she went to heat the burger, he grabbed hers and took a big bite, chewing loudly, "It tastes really good!"
Wendy was stunned. 'He took my burger? He doesn't know boundaries. Caspian, do you know that doing this makes me overthink?'
She returned expressionless, took a new burger, and started eating slowly.
The two sat face to face, eating bite by bite, and it felt like they were back in their old apartment.
"Here, have some meat," Caspian said naturally, offering her a piece of beef.
Wendy took it without hesitation.
She then handed her ketchup to Caspian, saying, "You love this."
Caspian took it and smiled, "It tastes great this way."
Wendy chewed her food, wishing she hadn't eaten so fast. She wanted to savor this warm moment a little longer.
"Since you moved out, we haven't seen each other much, and I miss your cooking," Caspian said casually while eating his burger. He then asked, "How's Molly doing lately?"
"She's good, no illnesses," Wendy said, taking a sip of water.
Caspian's face showed a look of longing, and he said wistfully, "She must miss me."
Wendy laughed as she cleaned the table, "Are you sure Molly misses you? I haven't noticed."
Caspian sighed and said mournfully, "Wendy, we haven't had a meal and chat together in a long time. I can't even remember the last time I saw you laugh heartily. It's all my fault. Do you hate me?"
Wendy smiled, "There's nothing to hate. Liking someone isn't something you can force. Why are you so sentimental after a few drinks? That's not like you."
"Maybe the things I said to you before were annoying. Angela wasn't wrong to scold me today!"
"Angela is straightforward; she doesn't know you well," Wendy said as she dried the dishes. "I understand your good intentions, even though sometimes what you say is hard to listen to."
Caspian laughed awkwardly, "Am I the kind of person girls don't like?"
"At least you know."
The snow was still falling, and the silver light shone into the room.
Wendy lay in bed but couldn't sleep. Lillian never came down, and after chatting with Caspian for a while, she went upstairs to her room.
Tonight's meal made her feel like she could face him more calmly. It also seemed like their relationship had been pulled closer by this meal. She felt a gnawing sense of unease, this indecisive feeling was really making her uncomfortable.
The next day, Wendy was still sleeping soundly when Lillian and Angela came in, excitedly pulling her up, saying, "Wendy, get up and get ready, Aaron is here!"
"What? I'm still not awake," Wendy pretended to fall back, not hearing a word they said.
Lillian repeated, "Get up, your idol, soon-to-be boyfriend Aaron, is here!"
This time, Wendy heard clearly. She sat up quickly and asked, "Really? Where is he?"
"He's sitting in the living room downstairs. Hurry up and get ready," Angela said, throwing a top at her.
Wendy quickly washed up and put on makeup in front of the mirror, asking them, "Do I look okay?"
"Yeah, you look great," Angela said, fixing her hair. "Be confident, confidence makes you look good!"
"Why did Aaron come over so suddenly? Is he curious about what I look like in real life?" Wendy said, applying lipstick and pressing her lips together.
Lillian said, "He said he was visiting his grandfather for the holidays. Last night, he got a message from Tom on Facebook, and since he had nothing to do today, he decided to come over."
"I'm so nervous!" Wendy said, stomping her feet. "When I talk to Aaron later, can you guys take some pictures and videos?"
"Do you need a few autographs too?" Angela teased. "Come on, don't keep him waiting."
In the living room, Aaron was chatting warmly with everyone he knew.
Suddenly, the elevator doors opened, and Wendy and the other two walked out.
Although Wendy was still wearing yesterday's clothes, her delicate makeup and shy smile made her look radiant.
Caspian watched her walk over, her steps light like a butterfly about to take flight, and his heart inexplicably skipped a beat.
