Chapter 219 Alexander's Concern for Lillian's Well-Being
Alexander wrapped his arm around her waist, his eyes filled with worry. He let out a sigh. "You never seem to stress about this stuff, but Im freaking out every day."
Lillian, looking confused, said, "The baby's fine, just a bit underweight. Angela said it's no big deal. I'm taking all the supplements and meds. Seriously, don't stress."
Alexander stayed quiet, still staring at her.
Trying to ease his mind, Lillian added, "I get it. I just saw Shae, and we didn't even talk. I'm either at home or with you, always with bodyguards. How could I get hurt? Your stress is stressing me out too."
Alexander's face softened a bit. "Lily, I'm really scared. You got lucky this time, but you can't always rely on it. Do you get that?"
Lillian smiled and rested her head against his. "I get it. You've been running the Whale Group for years, making friends and enemies. You're worried someone might come after me."
She gently added, "Don't worry. You're amazing. Luck will always be on your side."
Alexander asked, "Am I amazing? How so?"
"You're good to me, Oscar, Luke, Kelly, and Melvin. It's just that sometimes you can be a bit tough to get along with," Lillian praised.
Feeling happy, Alexander kissed her. "Lily, you're so kind, never holding grudges."
Lillian laughed, "If I held grudges, would you still be holding me now? I'm a forgiving person!"
He teased, "Isn't it because you were the one who liked me first, so you didn't hold grudges?"
She shot back, "No way! Clearly, you liked me first! You even had to hold me while sleeping!"
"Didn't you kiss me while I was sleeping?" he countered.
They bickered like kids, spilling each other's secrets, and ended up laughing.
Lillian stood up and said, "Are you Feeling better now? You should get back to work. "
"I still need to tell you something," Lillian continued. "Lola's been complaining about being tired from work. I scolded her. She also said Shae bullies her every day. It might be exaggerated, but they definitely don't get along. Shae's behavior towards her is actually directed at me. Lola's suffering because of me. Should we separate them or what?"
Alexander nodded, "I know about this. I'll handle it later."
He paused, "How did Shae change so much? She's so different from before."
"What was she like before? Was she very obedient?" Lillian asked.
Alexander explained, "Yes. Sometimes, when Amy and I went on dates, we'd bring her along. She was quiet and reserved, unlike now."
"Is her personality like Amy's?" Lillian asked.
He replied, "Amy is outgoing and cheerful. They're nothing alike."
Lillian said, "Maybe it's because she's been abroad for a long time."
Alexander shook his head and suggested, "Why don't you take a nap in the lounge? When you wake up, we'll go pick up Luke."
"Okay, I'm a bit sleepy," Lillian said, heading to the lounge.
Around 3 PM, Lillian woke up feeling refreshed. She came out, sat at the desk, and said, "Honey, I'm craving Mexican food."
Alexander shut down his computer. "I'm worried it might be too spicy. Kelly said too much chili can cause the baby to have red spots on the nose. How about we ask Gina to make it less spicy?"
"Sure," Lillian agreed.
After making a quick call home to arrange it, Alexander grabbed Lillian's bag, held her hand, and they headed out to pick up Luke.
"Mr. Sinclair," Kaitlyn called out. "Are you leaving now? There are two documents you need to sign. I've reviewed them, and they're good to go."
Alexander walked over and took Kaitlyn's pen.
Lillian turned to Shirley, "I'm heading out now. Keep in touch. I'll be back in the executive office after I have the baby." They all laughed.
Shirley teased, "Okay, I'll be waiting!"
Kaitlyn, who rarely joked, added, "Ms. Hill, I'll be waiting to continue your French lessons."
After signing the documents, Alexander took Lillian's hand again. "Let's go. The executive office secretary position will always be yours."
After picking up Luke and getting back home, they were greeted by the delicious smell of Mexican food. Lillian called out, "Gina, your food smells amazing."
In the living room, Caspian and Oscar were sitting together. Caspian teased, "Emily is pretty nice. Is she pursuing you?"
Oscar, focused on his game, replied, "No."
"What are you guys talking about?" Lillian asked. "I thought I heard you mention Emily."
"Lillian, you're back," Oscar said, putting down his phone. "Emily came by earlier and brought some supplements. I didn't take them and told her to take them back."
Caspian chimed in, "Lillian, Oscar is too straightforward."
"What do you know?" Lillian muttered. "Why bring supplements for no reason? I told her not to have any interactions."
Gina came out of the kitchen. "Dinner is ready."
Hearing this, Lillian happily went to change clothes and eagerly headed to the dining room for some Mexican food.
Later that evening, in a private room at a bar, Lloyd patted Adam's shoulder warmly. "Long time no see. Where have you been making big bucks? Didn't forget about me, did you?"
Adam's shoulder felt heavy and sore from the daily grind at the warehouse, taking a toll on his body.
"Lloyd, what big bucks? My family found me a job, and it's exhausting," Adam said with a bitter smile.
"Got a job?" Lloyd mocked. "Trying to better yourself?"
"Don't even start! It's a long story," Adam said, downing his drink. "Someone's got me under their thumb, and I can't disobey."
"Who has the power to make you obey?" Lloyd asked arrogantly. "Bring them to me, and I'll see who it is!"
Adam waved it off. "Lloyd, why did you call me here today?"
"Good news. If it works out, you'll get this amount of money." Lloyd gestured a number with his hand and then took a photo from his pocket, handing it to him. "Help me kidnap this woman and make her have a miscarriage!"
Adam took the photo, and under the dim light, his eyes widened in shock as he recognized the face.
