Chapter 197 I'll Handle it
Lillian bit her lip and gave him a look. After hearing him out, she dropped her gaze and stayed quiet for a bit.
Alexander cocked his head and asked, "You mad? I know what I said might sting, but it's how I feel, and I want you to know."
Lillian felt a bit off. Alexander admitted he missed Amy, whether because she was gone or just out of longing, and it bugged her.
But she knew he was being real.
'Amy's gone. Alexander misses her, but what can I do?' she thought, feeling a bit better.
"I'm just a bit uncomfortable," Lillian admitted. "Alexander, I get it. You didn't do anything wrong."
Alexander gently took her hand and smiled. "Lily, thanks for understanding. I'm really happy. Don't worry. I keep Amy in my heart, but I miss you the most every day."
Lillian raised her chin slightly. "Really? Just explaining and saying sorry won't make me forgive you for hugging Shae."
Alexander didn't argue, raising his hands in surrender. "Okay, my bad. I'll take whatever punishment you give me!"
"Punishment? Don't make me laugh! I'm not the boss of you," Lillian said with a smirk.
Alexander sighed, "Saying nice things doesn't work. Acting humble doesn't work either. What do you want me to do?"
Lillian replied, "I haven't decided yet. I'll let you know when I think of something."
She paused and continued, "Do you think Shae sent me this video? If it was really her, wouldn't it be too obvious? Would she be that dumb?"
Alexander frowned, thinking. "Shae wasn't like this before. She was shy, kind, and cute. Since she went abroad, her personality changed a lot. Every time she comes back, she seems different."
"I'll have someone check out who sent this video. You delete the video and that unknown contact. Don't stress about it. I'll handle it," Alexander said seriously, holding her face.
Lillian didn't want to stress over it either. She had shown it to him, and keeping it wouldn't help. She nodded playfully. "Okay, I'll delete it right away."
"Good job." He kissed her cheek.
Alexander packed up the lunch box and said, "Mom knows you're in the hospital now. She saw Kevin yesterday. I don't want others to know you're hospitalized, so I'll come over after work tonight to get you out."
"Really? I can leave the hospital!" Lillian waved her hands excitedly. "I'm fine. I can rest at home."
"By the way, how's Oscar doing? What did the doc say?" she asked.
Alexander replied, "I've already contacted a specialist. He agreed to perform surgery on Oscar on Friday and will fly in on Thursday night."
Lillian was overjoyed. She hugged him tightly, crying with happiness. "Alexander, thank you!"
"No need to thank me," Alexander said, giving her a gentle pat on the back. "Just keep it cool."
"I'm just so stoked that Oscar's illness can finally be fixed." Lillian sat up, wiping her tears.
Alexander wiped her cheeks with his fingers. "I'll help you sort out all your problems."
Lillian's eyes sparkled with tears as she smiled at him. Alexander smiled back. Just then, Kelly walked in and caught them in a tender moment.
"Kelly, you're back," Lillian said, quickly looking at Kelly, feeling a bit awkward.
Alexander turned to ask, "Have Melvin and Oscar finished eating?"
Kelly smiled and nodded. "Yep, Mr. Sinclair."
"Then I'll go check on Oscar and head to work." Alexander stood up and touched Lillian's cheek lovingly.
"I'll come back tonight."
"Okay, work hard!" Lillian cheered him on cutely.
Alexander laughed. "I've always worked hard!"
He went to Oscar's room and saw Emily there. On the bedside table, there was a thermos and some fruits. On the sofa, there was a pink travel bag, clearly a girl's.
"Alexander." Oscar's stern face softened when he saw Alexander.
Alexander nodded. "How are you feeling today? The surgery is set for this Friday."
"So soon." Oscar smiled. "Thanks, Alexander."
Emily, surprised, asked, "Is he having heart surgery because of my accident?"
Alexander explained, "Your accident was a trigger. It just sped up the surgery."
"That's great." Emily clapped her hands. "I'll stay here to take care of him. After the surgery, he can't be left alone. I'll take care of him until he's fully recovered."
"Who asked you to stay? Leave now!" Oscar shouted, annoyed.
Emily quickly apologized, "Okay, I'll leave now. Don't be mad."
She left the room without hesitation.
Standing by the bed, Alexander found it amusing and flicked Oscar's forehead. "You're getting all worked up now."
Oscar rubbed his forehead. "I can't stand her. If she stays here, I'll be in a bad mood."
Alexander laughed. "Alright, I don't get your issues. You deal with it."
"Lillian is getting discharged tonight. You stay here and rest. I'll hire a male nurse for you today. Melvin is old and has a bad back. He can't handle it," Alexander said.
Melvin, who had been sitting quietly, said, "Mr. Sinclair, I'm in good health. It's not a big problem."
"Don't push yourself. When the nurse arrives, go back to Sinclair Villa," Alexander instructed.
Outside, Emily leaned against the wall, overhearing bits of the conversation through the slightly open door.
"Hiring a nurse? Did I hear that right?" she muttered to herself. "Wouldn't I be perfect for the job?"
She quickly calculated the days and figured she could take a leave from school. It was the perfect opportunity to make up for her mistake. It couldn't be more perfect!
