Chapter 143 Agreement Extended Indefinitely
Lillian stared at him, tentatively asking, "Alexander, do you want this child?"
With a serious expression, Alexander replied, "I don't expect you would get pregnant."
Lillian couldn't help but lower her head, touching her belly, and said earnestly, "I haven't been unfaithful to you. This is your child!"
"I know, this is my child!" Alexander smiled slightly. "Don't be sensitive. I understand your character. Besides, I know everything you've done."
Lillian glanced at him in confusion and then angrily said, "Why did you ask such questions at the hospital?"
"I was just shocked. I also thought that taking birth control would prevent pregnancy, but you happen to be in that twenty percent failure rate," Alexander said with a bitter smile.
Lillian, both annoyed and angry, said to him, "This is your fault!"
Alexander thought about that night and admitted that she was innocent, but he said, "You married me, so we are a family. You should have thought of that."
"We are not a family! We are a contract couple!" Lillian, furious, spoke bluntly.
Alexander looked angrily and warned, "Don't ever mention it again!"
"It's just the two of us here. Why can't I say it?" Lillian asked defiantly.
"Just don't say it without reason!" Alexander said seriously, immediately parking the car in front of a Mexican restaurant.
"Get out of the car," Alexander unbuckled his seatbelt, then reconsidered and said, "Sit. Don't move."
Lillian watched in confusion as he got out of the car, came to her side, opened the door, and extended his arm in front of her, saying, "Move slowly. Hold onto my arm as you get out."
Today, Alexander was driving a Range Rover.
Although the vehicle was large, it was short. Lillian accepted Alexander's kindness, so she held onto his arm and got out of the car. He had never been so gentlemanly towards her before, and she couldn't help but feel a bit pleased.
The two entered the restaurant and sat down. Lillian ordered many spicy dishes and instructed the waiter to make them extra spicy.
After the waiter left, Alexander asked, "Are you sure you can handle such spicy food?"
"I don't know, but I want to eat it." Lillian chuckled.
Alexander asked the waiter for a jug of water, poured her a cup, and placed it in front of her. "Drink some water."
Lillian held the cup in her hands and teased, "Thanks to the cup, I can get Mr. Sinclair's care. "
Alexander poured himself a cup of water and smiled upon hearing her words. "Why don't you think that I'm just taking care of you?"
"That's impossible! If I weren't pregnant, you wouldn't take care of me at all," Lillian said with a self-mocking smile.
Without speaking, Alexander raised his cup to his lips and looked at her seriously.
After laughing, Lillian noticed his affection for her. She felt a bit nervous and quickly averted her eyes, drinking water to conceal her unease.
Soon, the dishes filled the table with lots of food. Alexander placed some onto her plate.
"You should eat too," Lillian said.
"Alright, eat as much as you like," Alexander replied.
The dishes were heavily spiced, and Lillian enjoyed them thoroughly, breaking into a sweat on her forehead.
"I'm full," Lillian said, putting down her fork and taking a sip of water, then leaning back lazily.
Alexander asked, "Are you feeling okay? Do you feel like throwing up?"
"I'm fine," Lillian said, covering her mouth as she yawned. She felt sleepy again.
After resting, she directly said to him, "Upon reflection, I have decided that I do not want to keep this child."
She was sincere. As a contract couple, she had no standing to have this child. If the child were born, what would she do after the contract expires?
Would she leave with the child or leave the child with him? Neither option seemed suitable for her.
Alexander put down his fork, slowly wiped his mouth, and asked, "Do you dislike children, or are you concerned about the future?"
Lillian remained silent. She liked children, treating Luke as her own, let alone her child.
"I get. We didn't expect our arrangement to cover children," Alexander said seriously. "If you have the child, I'll give you a sum of money as a reward."
