Chapter 422 Caspian is Here

Later, a doctor came and arranged for a full-body check-up. Wendy followed along, taking care of things. After a long ordeal, they returned to the ward more than three hours later.

The three of them were starving.

Wendy said, "I'll go to the cafeteria to buy some food."

She slung her small bag over her shoulder and asked, "Mom, is there anything you want to eat?"

Jessica weakly shook her head, "I haven't recovered yet. Whatever you buy, I'll eat."

"Alright." Wendy turned and walked towards the door.

At that moment, someone else came in. When the door opened, Wendy was stunned to see who it was.

"Caspian?!" She was so shocked her eyes widened in disbelief. "What are you doing here?"

How could she describe her feelings at that moment? Surprise, confusion, joy, and the urge to jump into his arms and hug him! His presence brought her peace and a sense of gratitude.

Caspian stood there, looking travel-worn, with an anxious expression and a takeout bag in his hand.

"I was worried about you, so I took the earliest flight."

Seeing her standing there unharmed, with a bandage on her forehead, made him worried even more. He carefully looked her up and down, and only after confirming she was fine did he breathe a sigh of relief.

Caspian stepped inside and looked at the elderly couple on the bed, asking with concern, "Jessica and Patrick, are you both alright?"

Jessica and Patrick were also surprised that he had rushed over immediately. In response to his concern, Jessica remained silent, while Patrick said, "No serious injuries. It's kind of you to come all the way here; we appreciate it."

Jessica glanced at Wendy and said, "Wendy, go buy the food; I am hungry."

Caspian placed the takeout bag on the table and quickly said, "I bought some nutritious meals on my way here. Eat them while they're hot."

Wendy was once again astonished, almost popping her eyes out. 'Caspian had thought of everything!'

Caspian went to the restroom to wash his hands, then opened the boxes, filling the room with a delicious aroma. He divided the food into two portions and said, "This place in Atlanta has a great reputation. It's clean and hygienic, and they make various nutritious meals for different needs. I think you'll love it."

Wendy brought one portion to Jessica, and the sight and smell of the food were appetizing.

"Mom, I'll feed you." She held the food up to Jessica's mouth.

Although Jessica didn't like Caspian, he had come all the way and bought food, so she couldn't refuse with a stern expression. She ate the food bite by bite.

Caspian was also feeding Patrick. The process was a bit challenging, but in the end, Patrick obediently ate.

Jessica and Patrick didn't eat much before they were full.

Caspian said to Wendy, "You should eat now. I'll bring it to the outer room."

The two of them sat on the sofa in the outer room. Wendy took small bites of her food and asked, "Did you help arrange things at the hospital?"

"It was nothing." Caspian took out the dessert from the meal box and opened the packaging for her.

Wendy looked at the dessert and then at him, saying, "I called you because I was so scared. I couldn't reach Angela and Lillian, and I felt so helpless. Now that you've flown over, I feel guilty."

Caspian lowered his head, wiping his fingers with a tissue, and softly said, "There's nothing to feel guilty about. You were alone here with no help. I couldn't stay calm in Richmond either. Now that I'm here, I can help you take care of your parents. Isn't that great?"

"Having you here is, of course, great." Wendy pursed her lips, hesitated for a moment, and tentatively asked, "Were you very worried about me?"

"Fool!" Caspian scolded with a smile, "If I wasn't worried, would I have flown over?"

'Was it just concern between friends, or something deeper?' Wendy didn't dare to ask.

After eating, Caspian went to the director's office. Wendy stayed with her parents in the ward.

"Wendy, did you call him and tell him we were in a car accident?" Patrick asked.

Wendy said, "You and Mom were both unconscious at the time, and I was so scared. I couldn't reach Angela and Lillian, so I called him. I didn't expect him to fly over."

Patrick said, "That kid has a good heart. He was worried about you and flew over immediately, even bought food."

Wendy nodded. Caspian had always been very considerate in this regard.

Jessica rested with her eyes closed, listening to the conversation between them without saying a word.

Patrick said to her, "Jessica, I know you don't like him, but the kid flew over specifically. Be a bit nicer."

Jessica opened her eyes, looked at Wendy, and asked, "Are you two broken up?"

"Yes, we broke up." Wendy said honestly, "I'm not lying. He came over out of friendship."

Jessica, seeing that she didn't seem to be lying, nodded slightly and closed her eyes again.

Jessica and Patrick, feeling more relaxed, soon fell asleep. After a day of exhaustion and fright, Wendy was also worn out. She lay down on the sofa in the outer room and quickly fell into a light sleep.

When Caspian returned, he saw Wendy asleep on the sofa. He quietly took a blanket from the cabinet and covered her. Sitting at the head of the sofa, he watched her sleep.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. Caspian quickly picked it up and saw it was Lillian calling. He answered and stepped out of the ward.

"Lillian," he said into the phone after moving a bit away from the door, "this is Caspian."

Lillian instinctively glanced at her phone and asked, "Why do you have Wendy's phone? Are you two together?"

Caspian said, "I'm in Atlanta. Wendy and her parents were in a bus accident here, so I came to take care of them."

"Are they hurt?" Lillian said regretfully, "I had given my phone to my son to play with, and it somehow got turned off. She must have been terrified when she called. Caspian, please take good care of her."

"You don't need to tell me that; I definitely will," Caspian said. "Don't worry, Jessica and Patrick are already in the ward. Their injuries aren't too serious, and the fractures can be treated conservatively. Wendy is sleeping now. I'll have her call you back when she wakes up."

"Alright, Caspian, thank you for taking care of things over there."

"With me here, you can rest assured."

After hanging up, Lillian suddenly felt something was off and muttered to herself, "I just realized! Knowing Wendy was in trouble, Caspian went to Atlanter!"

Caspian returned to the ward, placed her phone aside, and continued watching her.

Suddenly, Wendy frowned and cried out in her sleep, "Help! Save me!"

Caspian was startled and quickly reached out to gently pat her, soothingly saying, "Wendy, don't be afraid. I'm here."
