Chapter 293 Lillian Falls
Amy looked at Alexander in disbelief, her mouth slightly open. After a moment, she asked in shock, "Alexander, do you not love me anymore? How long have you been with Lillian? How could she compare to the many years of feeling we have shared?"
She looked around helplessly, her eyes finally settling on Alexander's face. She moved closer, grabbed his hand in fear, and nervously asked, "Alexander, you won't, right? You still love me, don't you?"
She had always thought that getting Alexander to accept her was a sure thing. How did it suddenly change? How could she accept that he no longer loved her?
"Amy, calm down," Alexander said, trying to comfort her as he saw her intense reaction. "Amy, listen to me. When you left, I was heartbroken and thought I would never be able to love anyone again. But then Lily came into my life. She made me realize that I still could have love, and she made my heart beat again."
Alexander paused and then said solemnly, "I once loved you, but now, I love her."
Amy suddenly screamed, unable to bear what he was saying.
"Alexander, you can't break your promise. On Peach Blossom Island, you said you would love me forever. How could you forget the promise you made to me? How could you fall in love with someone else? How could you do this to me?" Amy shouted hysterically, her voice filled with pain.
Alexander frowned, "Amy, calm down!"
"How can I calm down?" Amy started crying again. "Do you know? The day I dreamed of confessing to you was not like this. I thought you would be overjoyed to have me back, that you would hold me tightly, kiss me, and beg me never to leave you again! Lillian is just a trivial person in your heart. Now that I'm back, you should abandon her! It should be like this! Like this!"
"But what about you? There was no joy, no tight embrace, no passionate kiss. Alexander, don't you miss me at all? Every day I suffer thinking about you. How could you change like this?" Amy accused him continuously, her voice trembling with emotion.
Alexander looked at her with a complex expression, a hint of unfamiliarity in his eyes. He took a deep breath and said, "Amy, I miss you. I do. I even told Lily that I kept you in the deepest part of my heart. I never forgot you all these years you were gone."
"But my longing for you isn't because I love you. I love Lily now. Isn't it clear enough that I didn't do what you expected?" Alexander said calmly and frankly.
Everything was in chaos! Amy looked at Alexander sadly, nothing was going her way.
"So, you mean you don't love me anymore?" Amy asked in confusion as if trying to confirm her understanding. "You completely love Lillian now, is that what you mean?"
Alexander nodded seriously and said, "Yes, I love Lillian now, and our child."
"What about me?" Amy asked, puzzled. "If you don't love me, what am I supposed to do? You promised me you would love me forever."
She repeated the question to herself, looking helpless and timidly at Alexander, "Alexander, don't abandon me. I will listen to you and do as you say, okay?"
"Amy? What's wrong with you?" Alexander noticed her sudden change in demeanor, looking abnormal.
"I'm heartbroken. You don't love me anymore. I'm very sad, and you still ask what's wrong with me?" Amy curled up on the sofa, burying her face in her knees.
Alexander's phone suddenly rang, startling Amy. She glared, grabbed the phone from the coffee table, and smashed it on the ground, stomping on it furiously while screaming.
"Amy!" Alexander hugged her tightly. "What's wrong with you? Calm down!"
Amy's breathing became rapid as she clung to him, her fierce eyes turning into a look of weakness and helplessness. Then her eyes fluttered shut, and she fainted in his arms.
Gina hung up the phone in disappointment and said, "Mr. Sinclair didn't answer. Maybe he's busy with work."
Lillian, sweating in pain, said sarcastically, "Who knows what he's busy with."
"Mrs. Sinclair, hang in there. We're almost at the hospital," Gina said, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
"Gina, will the baby be okay?" she asked fearfully.
"Don't worry. It's already late in the pregnancy. It won't be easy to lose the baby. Even if it's born now, it can go straight to the incubator. It'll be fine!"
Leah was driving fast, angry that Alexander hadn't answered the phone. She didn't like Lillian, but seeing her in pain made her feel sorry for her and resentful towards Alexander.
"Even if he's in a meeting, the secretary would answer a call from family. What's he doing?" Leah muttered, dialing again.
But this time, a mechanical voice answered, "Sorry, the number you dialed is turned off."
"What? How is it turned off now?" Leah said furiously.
Lillian closed her eyes in pain. Alexander, you're in trouble!
Alexander carried Amy into the lounge and closed the door. He picked up his phone, glanced at it briefly, then removed the SIM card and tossed the phone into the trash.
He used the office landline to call Lillian. He was worried the earlier call might have been from her.
"Mr. Sinclair, you finally called," Gina answered anxiously. "Mr. Sinclair, Mrs. Sinclair had a fall. Leah is driving us to Whispering Hospital. Please come quickly!"
"What did you say? How is Lily now?" His pupils contracted, and he asked nervously.
Lillian's groans came through the phone, making his heartache.
"Mrs. Sinclair is in pain. We're almost at the hospital."
"Honey, don't be afraid. I'm on my way." Alexander hastily put down the phone, his hands trembling so much that it took him two tries to hang up properly.
He quickly left the office, headed for the elevator, and told Kaitlyn, "Get the car ready! Hurry!"
When Lillian arrived at the hospital, she was taken to the emergency room.
A moment later, a nurse came out and called, "Is Lillian's family here?"
"Here," Leah walked over and asked urgently, "Nurse, is Lillian okay?"
"It's hard to say right now. We might need to prepare for surgery," the nurse said. "Where's her husband?"
"He's on his way."
"Tell him to hurry. If there's surgery, the spouse needs to sign," the nurse said before turning back into the emergency room.
