Chapter 386 Gifts for Wendy and Angela
Every day after that, whenever Alexander had time, he would take Lillian out to have fun. Aetherland had plenty of famous landmarks, with mountains and various attractions that they visited one by one.
After a few days of fun, they planned to return home the next day. The night before, after packing their luggage, neither of them felt sleepy. They held hands and went for a walk, eventually ending up by the sea.
The waves crashed against the shore, one after another.
Lillian held onto Alexander's arm as they slowly walked along the beach.
"It's been a year, time flies!" Lillian said, looking at the endless dark sea. "I never thought we would fall in love."
After her reflection, Lillian chuckled, "Do you remember? We signed an agreement, one year."
"Your memory is bad. We later changed it to indefinite," Alexander corrected her, a bit embarrassed. "Why bring this up now?"
Lillian mimicked Alexander's tone and gestures, saying, "First, a secret marriage. Second, when you're with me, put away those strange ideas and don't cause trouble! Third, the marriage lasts one year, and after a year, we divorce. Got it?"
Alexander was bent over with laughter at Lillian's perfect imitation. "I never said that! Why do you remember everything I said so clearly?"
"I'll never forget how you looked!" Lillian said. "At the time, I thought, if you were so unwilling, then don't marry me, acting like it was such a grievance!"
"It wasn't a grievance, not at all," Alexander said, laughing, and then apologetically added, "You were the one who was wronged."
Lillian smiled, "But now that I talk about it, I don't feel wronged, just find it funny. It took a lot of courage for you to marry me so decisively."
Alexander held Lillian's hand, knowing how unfairly he had treated her in the past, and tried to change the subject, "Honey, let's not talk about this anymore, it's killing the vibe."
"Feeling guilty? I didn't mean to blame you. We're just reminiscing, aren't we? You are overthinking it," Lillian said, making Alexander feel even more embarrassed.
Alexander turned Lillian around and hugged her tightly, saying with deep emotion, "Honey, I love you!"
Feeling his intense love, she responded, "Honey, I love you too!"
The morning of their return home.
Early in the morning, Lillian and Alexander, holding their child, went to say goodbye to Thomas. Then Melvin drove them to the airport, and they had a smooth flight back home.
Lillian wanted to surprise her family, so she didn't notify them in advance.
When they arrived, Lucas was playing in the yard by himself. Seeing them return, he excitedly threw down his shovel and ran towards Lillian, hugging her tightly around the waist, "Lillian, I missed you so much!"
Kelly heard the commotion from inside and quickly came out, happily taking William and Henry from them. She said to Lillian, "I've been missing William and Henry since you left. You should have told us in advance so we could pick you up at the airport."
"We wanted to surprise you," Lillian said. "Looks like it worked."
Oscar was also astonished to see Lillian and Alexander back and quickly asked how their trip had been.
"It was much better than last time," Lillian said in the living room, starting to hand out gifts. "I had a great time. Alexander took me out to eat and shop every day; I didn't want to come back."
Kelly smiled and said, "You look like you've been living well. Your face looks a bit chubbier."
"Really?" Lillian instinctively touched her face and asked in surprise, "Did I gain weight?"
Oscar examined her closely for a moment and said, "I think you did gain weight; you're almost getting a double chin."
Hearing this, Lillian was devastated and blamed Alexander, "It's all your fault, taking me out to eat delicious food every day."
Alexander felt wronged but admitted, "Yes, it's my fault. I shouldn't have taken you out to eat delicious food. We should have stayed home and eaten the bland food you don't like."
Oscar defended Alexander, "Lillian, wasn't it you who wanted to go out to eat? Why blame Alexander? I feel sorry for him."
"Oscar, stop it. I'm used to it," Alexander said, almost in tears.
"Are you playing the victim to gain sympathy?" Lillian rolled her eyes at Alexander and Oscar, ignoring them. She turned to Kelly and said, "Kelly, I'm going on a diet tonight, no dinner for me!"
"No way!" Alexander and Oscar said in unison, firmly.
However, before the evening diet could start, Lillian broke her own rule and went out for an appointment. She took the gifts she bought for Angela and Wendy and went to a luxurious Michelin restaurant in the city for dinner.
In the spacious restaurant, Lillian looked around and finally saw Wendy at the far end by the window, touching up her makeup.
Lillian walked over, and a waiter gently pulled out a chair for her. She thanked him softly and asked, "Did Angela choose this place? It's not suitable for the three of us; we can't even talk loudly."
Wendy sighed, "Tell me about it. Such a fancy place, I have to keep my makeup intact, it's not relaxing at all. Isn't hot pot more enjoyable?"
"Angela isn't here yet? Seriously," Lillian complained, handing Wendy a large paper bag. "I had a great time in Aetherland this time and bought you some stuff. It's a mix of everything."
Wendy happily took the bag and looked inside. There were cosmetics, jewelry boxes, gift boxes, plush toys, coin purses—basically everything a girl would like.
"Lillian, I love you so much!" Wendy said, taking out each item to look at. "These are all things I like."
"You have to know what the recipient likes when giving gifts," Lillian said. "I didn't get as much for Angela because I know she doesn't like these random things."
"What did you get for Angela?" Wendy asked curiously.
Lillian chuckled mischievously, beckoning Wendy with her finger and whispering, "I went to the best church there and prayed for her to find a handsome man this year."
Wendy looked behind Lillian and said blankly, "Lillian, the prayers in Aetherland are too effective. You should take me there next time."
"What do you mean?" Lillian asked, puzzled.
Wendy raised her eyebrows, signaling her to look back.
Angela was walking towards them, arm in arm with a tall, handsome man.
