Chapter 70 This Is My Wife
Leo said, "Don't tell her yet, Mrs. Wilson. Just tell her I'm on a business trip these days."
Lillian finished arranging the things and sat beside the bed, asking, "Did you find a job?"
"Yes. I found a job in a small company," Leo answered somewhat awkwardly.
Lillian pretended not to notice his awkwardness and turned to Oscar, saying, "Since everything is settled, let's go back."
Oscar asked worriedly, "Can Leo handle it here alone?"
"Don't worry. I'm fine. If anything happens, I'll call the nurse," Leo said.
Lillian got up and took a water cup, saying, "I'll go get you some hot water so you won't get thirsty and have no water to drink."
The water dispenser was at the end of the corridor. After filling the water, Lillian leisurely walked back to the hospital room.
Kevin accompanied Alexander as they walked out of the doctor's office, shaking hands and saying goodbye to the doctor.
"Mr. Sinclair, that person ahead seems to be Ms. Hill," Kevin noticed Lillian ahead and told Alexander.
"Yes, it's her," Alexander whispered, "Why is she here at the hospital?"
Kevin didn't say anything, as he didn't know why Lillian had come here.
Kevin and Alexander quietly followed behind Lillian and saw her enter a room. The door was slightly ajar, and they stood at the doorway, able to see Leo lying on the bed.
"I've put the water here for you. Be careful when you drink it.”
"Also, if you need to go to the bathroom at night, walk slowly, the floor is quite slippery.”
"Before breakfast, ask the doctor what you can eat now. You shouldn't skip breakfast."
Lillian conscientiously reminded Leo.
They had known each other since childhood, and their relationship was like family.
"Okay, I know," Leo said with a smile.
Outside the door, Alexander furrowed his brows. He didn't expect his wife to care about another man.
The middle-aged woman lying in the bed next to Leo was smiling and watching Leo and Lillian. She teasingly said, "Young man, is this your girlfriend? She's really nice, caring, and considerate."
"She's my wife!" Suddenly, the ward door was pushed open, and Alexander walked in angrily.
"Alexander?"
"Alexander?"
Lillian and Oscar exclaimed in unison.
Alexander walked over and stood by the bed. He glanced at Lillian, then looked at Leo and asked, "Aren't you supposed to be celebrating your birthday? Why are you at the hospital?"
Leo was frightened by Alexander's anger and explained, "Mr. Sinclair, today is my birthday, and I was celebrating with Oscar, but I drank too much and had a stomach bleed, so I came to the hospital."
Alexander nodded and asked coldly, "So Lillian didn't attend your birthday party and came straight from home to the hospital."
"Mr. Sinclair, Oscar called me." Lillian was about to explain but was stared at by Alexander, so she had to close her mouth.
"Yes. I didn't want to trouble Lillian." Leo said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Mr. Sinclair."
Alexander sneered, then leaned closer and said in a low voice, "Do you remember what I told you before? With her current status, how could you call her to come here with just one phone call? It's only because of her that I let you stay in Rihegde. Don't be too excessive!"
"Mr. Sinclair, I understand. I haven't been in contact with Lillian recently. Today is my birthday, so It's all my fault." In front of Alexander, no matter when, Leo always looked timid.
Alexander said nothing more. He straightened up and turned to walk out. He angrily asked Lillian, "Why aren't you leaving? Do you want to continue taking care of him here?"
Lillian and Oscar hurriedly got up. They took a glance at Leo and followed Alexander out of the ward.
"Wow, is that really her husband? He looks so fierce," the middle-aged woman in the adjacent hospital bed said. She was also startled. She waited until they were gone before she dared speak. She placed her hand over her chest and asked Leo, "Young man, what exactly is your relationship with that girl?"
Leo felt angry and helpless, but he calmly replied, "She's my sister."
After leaving the hospital, Alexander got into the car.
Lillian and Alexander sat in the back seat. After a while, she asked, "Why are you still at the hospital at this time? Aren't you supposed to be back at Sinclair Villa?"
"What do you want to know? Are you asking if I'm following you?" Alexander sneered at her, looking at her sideways. "I'm not that idle."
"That's not what I meant," Lillian said, looking down.
Alexander glanced at his phone and said, "I don't care what you mean. I think you should know what I mean. I don't want to see you showing any concern towards other men besides me ever again. It's not something you should be doing. Don't forget, you're already married!"
"Alexander, then what about Luke and me?" Oscar asked softly.
"Shut up!" Alexander snapped.
Lillian wanted to say that there was nothing between her and Leo. But she realized that she had already explained it multiple times before, and Alexander never believed her. He always became furious whenever they met Leo. She didn't want to make useless efforts, so she obediently agreed.
"I haven't forgotten. I won't contact Leo again in the future," Lillian said decisively.
"Not just him. It applies to all men!" Alexander said firmly.
Lillian laughed at his words. She deliberately teased Alexander, "Mr. Sinclair, do you like me?"
"What are you trying to say?" Alexander coldly asked.
"I mean, even if you don't like me, can't I like someone else?" Lillian asked.
"At least not until we get divorced!" Alexander replied.
"Mr. Sinclair, don't you think you're being unreasonable? It's unfair!" Lillian retorted.
"Lillian, you have too many questions. You're violating our agreement," Alexander said.
"Can't we ask more questions?" Lillian continued.
"I told you before, go home and read the protocols," Alexander said before hanging up his phone. He closed his eyes to rest and ignored Lillian.
Feeling a bit helpless about Alexander's reluctance to engage with her, Lillian didn't speak anymore.
Alexander thought about Lillian's question earlier. He said to himself, 'Unreasonable? I've always been unreasonable! No man would be happy to see his wife taking care of another man.'
Despite Alexander thinking that he doesn't have any feelings for Lillian, his possessiveness still makes him uncontrollably angry.
Two days after the minor incident, Lillian followed Alexander to the Sinclair family's mansion in Aetherland.
Lillian woke up early and repeatedly checked if her luggage was packed properly. It was her first time traveling abroad, so she was very excited.
Luke and Oscar watched her busily. Luke was not in a good mood. He asked gloomily, "Lillian, when will you and Uncle Alexander come back?"
"I don't know either. I will call you before coming back," Lillian replied.
Lillian then said to Oscar, "While I'm away, you need to help Kelly with the chores. Don't idle about all day."
"Okay, I got it," Oscar smiled and agreed.
Oscar also felt happy after seeing Lillian's happiness.
