Chapter 135 Lillian Didn't Eat Enough at Night

Dinner was sumptuous. Lillian sat beside Linda, who placed dishes in front of her, making her feel quite embarrassed.

"Lillian, eat more to stay healthy and give us a son for the Sinclair family," Linda said with a smile, placing another piece of steak in her bowl.

Lillian looked at the food and smiled. "Grandma, you should eat too." As she spoke, she placed some food on Linda's plate.

Linda nodded happily. "Alright, I'll."

Lillian lowered her head and ate slowly, feeling a great deal of pressure. 'Linda liks me so much, but how would I explain to her after a few months when I divorce Alexander?' she wondered.

Sitting across from them, Leah looked displeased and said, "Linda, you're playing favorites! You only tell Lillian to eat more and don't care about me."

Samantha lightly scolded. "Leah, you're grown up now and should be more understanding."

"It's true. Grandma likes Lillian and doesn't like me anymore," Leah said angrily.

This remark made everyone laugh out loud.

"I'll give our little princess favorite lamb chops," Justin said with a smile, placing it on Leah's plate.

Leah's anger turned to laughter, and she said coquettishly, "Grandpa, you are the best to me."

Linda pretended to be angry. "You're right. Justin is good to you, and I'm not."

Linda's feigned anger made everyone laugh again.

After dinner, they chatted with Linda for a while before Lillian and Alexander had to leave.

Linda instructed Alexander. "You must treat Lillian well and not bully her."

Then she turned to Lillian and said, "Lillian, if he bullies you, come to me, and I'll teach him a lesson!"

Lillian smiled and said, "Linda, Alexander treats me very well and never bullies me."

Linda looked at Alexander with a gratified expression. "That's the way it should be."

On the way home, the car was quiet. Having not eaten enough while chatting with the elders, Lillian was now looking at the barbecue outside the car window, drooling.

Suddenly, her stomach growled, and she blushed with embarrassment.

Alexander turned to her and teased. "Are you hungry again, or is your stomach upset?"

Lillian pretended to be calm and said, "I'm hungry again and want something tasty."

"Didn't you eat enough at dinner? Grandma gave you so much food," Alexander said.

"I didn't have an appetite during dinner. The food Grandma gave me was mostly left over," Lillian explained.

Alexander glanced outside and asked, "What do you want to eat? I can't let you go home hungry."

Lillian pointed outside and said, "Let's eat something delicious. I haven't had it in a long time."

Alexander leaned forward to look and curiously asked, "What is it?"

Kevin pulled the car over to the side of the road. Lillian said, "Barbecue, you probably haven't had it before."

"Why don't you find a restaurant? It's cold and windy at night. Eating outside might make you catch a cold." Alexander advised.

Lillian said, "It's fine. There's plastic sheeting to block the wind. You wait in the car. I'll be done in twenty minutes." With that, she hurriedly got out of the car.

Alexander watched her through the car window as she jogged over, lifted the plastic sheeting, and went inside.

"Kevin, have you ever had a barbecue? Is it good?" he puzzled.

Kevin replied, "Sir, although it's just a simple shack, the variety of food inside is quite rich. You can find anything you want. Some shacks are big enough to have a couple of tables inside. Young people love this place. After working late, they come here for dinner. It's affordable and satisfying."

After hearing this, without asking anymore, Alexander got out of the car and walked towards the shack.

Lillian had just finished ordering and was chatting warmly with the owner, who looked to be honest and simple, in his thirties.

"Without a rewarding career, I needed to make a livelihood, so after much thought, I decided to open this barbecue shop," the owner said.

"That's great. Although it's hard work, you earn more than working a regular job!" Lillian comforted.

There was a noise from the plastic sheeting, and Alexander walked in.

Lillian didn't pay much attention and said to the owner, "Please add more chili for me. Barbecue with chili is especially delicious."

The owner generously added a lot of chili. "If you like it spicy, I'll add more for you."

He then looked up at Alexander and asked, "What would you like to eat?"

Hearing this, Lillian instinctively turned to ask in surprise, "Why did you come in?"

Alexander glanced at the barbecue on the plate and said coldly, "Hurry up and eat. We'll go home after you're done."

"So you know each other." The owner smiled and brought a chair for Lillian, saying, "You can sit and eat."

Lillian didn't sit and said to Alexander, "Go ahead."

Alexander pressed her shoulders and made her sit on the chair, then took the plate and said, "You eat quickly."

Lillian took Alexander's plate and started eating slowly. She looked up and asked, "Alexander, do you want to try some?"

With his hands in his coat pockets, Alexander looked disdainfully at the barbecue. "No."

"It's really good. It would help if you tried some," Lillian said, extending a skewer to Alexander with a smile. "Here, have a grilled cilantro roll."

"Don't refuse food from your girlfriend, or she'll be upset!" Without other customers, the old owner watched their interaction with great interest.

Lillian laughed and said, "If you don't like this, I'll get you something else."

"I don't eat this. Stop messing around," Alexander said, frowning in disgust.

She paused, withdrew her hand, and looked embarrassed.

After a few people came in, the owner got busy. Lillian sensibly stopped teasing him and ate quietly.

Suddenly, Alexander received a video call on his phone. He took the call outside. Lillian quickly finished eating, paid the bill, and came out.

Standing nearly, Alexander was on the phone.

She gently approached and noticed who it was.

"Alexander, it's settled then!" Shae smiled, but then she saw Lillian standing behind him, startled and clutching her chest. "Ms. Hill, you scared me by appearing suddenly."

Alexander looked at her and asked, "Are you done eating?"

"I'm done," Lillian replied sullenly.

He said into the phone, "Let's talk later. I ended the phone now."

"Alexander, get some early rest tonight," Shae said considerately.

Lillian rushed to the car, smiling self-mockingly. 'Shae will eventually replace me as Alexander's wife!'
