Chapter 314 Wendy's Unusual Reaction
During lunch break, Wendy finished her meal and found a quiet place to call Caspian.
"Have you eaten?" she asked.
Her face couldn't help but turn red, her heart was pounding, and she felt her voice tighten.
Her mood had changed, and even making a phone call made her nervous.
"Yes, I just finished eating," Caspian said nonchalantly.
"Did the doctor say anything during the morning rounds?"
"The doctor said I would recover gradually."
"Okay." Wendy listened to the game sounds coming from the phone, feeling a bit disappointed.
The person on the other end of the line didn't say anything and Wendy quietly listened to the game sounds before saying, "That's all, I'll hang up now."
"Go ahead, bye." Caspian hurriedly said and then hung up the phone.
Wendy looked at her phone helplessly and let out a long sigh.
"What's wrong? Why the long face?" Behind her, Amos walked over with a cup of coffee, smiling as he asked.
Seeing it was him, Wendy instinctively took a step back and said with a smile, "Mr. Dalton, when did you get here? Ms. Phillips should be in the office."
Amos handed her the coffee and said, "We just finished lunch in the office. Here, this is for you."
"Thank you, Mr. Dalton." Wendy took the coffee and thanked him politely.
Amos smiled and said, "Wendy, don't be so formal. We're friends outside of work. You can call me Amos."
"That doesn't seem right. I'll stick with Mr. Dalton, I should get back to work." Wendy added.
"Wendy," Amos called her, asking meaningfully, "Did you have fun at Mr. Sinclair's house yesterday?"
Wendy was taken aback, "Yes, I did."
"That's good." Amos smiled insincerely and said, "You're a good girl, you know what to say and what not to say, right? I'll introduce you to a boyfriend someday."
"Mr. Dalton, thank you for your kindness, but I don't like men." Wendy, feeling creeped out by his smile, refused and hurriedly ran away.
Back in the office, Wendy still felt a bit scared. Amos's words had a probing intent; he might know that she knew something about him.
What should she do? She had never encountered such a situation before and felt very flustered.
After work in the evening, Wendy went to the hospital. Before she even reached the ward, she heard noisy sounds coming from inside. Confused, she went in and saw seven or eight men causing a ruckus, with Caspian lying in the middle, smiling happily and enjoying the commotion.
"Who are you looking for?" a man near the door asked loudly.
Seeing someone come in, the rowdy men stopped and all eyes turned to Wendy, looking at her with amusement.
"Come in, why are you standing at the door?" Caspian was the first to speak.
Wendy awkwardly pointed at Caspian to the man at the door, then smiled embarrassedly and walked in with her head down.
"Caspian, I don't recall seeing this beautiful woman with you before." someone beside him asked with a mischievous smile.
Seeing Wendy's awkwardness, Caspian told his friends, "Alright, that's enough for today. You can leave."
His friends obediently left.
Wendy let out a breath, sat by the bed, and asked, "Why are there so many friends here?"
Caspian lazily leaned against the headboard and said, "I don't know where they heard the news."
He turned to her and asked, "Did you tell Evelyn about me?"
"No," she shook her head lightly, "Do you want me to?"
Caspian closed his eyes to rest and said slowly, "No need. Once these guys leave, everyone who needs to know will know."
After he finished speaking, he opened his eyes and looked at her before saying, "You haven't eaten yet, right? Marcus went to get dinner, and I asked him to bring you a portion. Eat before you leave."
Wendy's eyes lit up, and she happily said, "He brought mine? Thank you, Mr. Wade!"
Caspian smiled without saying anything.
Wendy felt very happy. Although bringing dinner seemed like a small thing, didn't it show that he was thinking about her? Didn't it mean he had a bit of a good impression of her?
No! Wendy frowned and immediately denied her thoughts. Knowing that he hadn't forgotten Evelyn, how could he have feelings for her? It was ridiculous!
After denying herself, Wendy fell into deep disappointment. So, this is what a crush feels like? It's unpleasant!
Caspian watched her face turn red, sometimes smiling, looking sad, shaking her head, and frowning. He couldn't help but tap her head, "What are you doing? What are you thinking about?"
Wendy stammered, "I was thinking about work."
Caspian laughed, "You know exactly what you're thinking about."
Marcus came back with dinner. Seeing Wendy, he greeted her warmly and put the food on the table, saying, "Mr. Wade, I got the food."
"Marcus, join us," Wendy said as she took out the food.
Marcus said, "I already ate while waiting for the food. Take your time, I am going out for a smoke."
Wendy opened the food containers.
"It smells so good, it looks delicious," Wendy said as she handed a fork to him.
"Eat up," Caspian said as he divided a portion for her.
"Thank you, you eat too." Wendy felt a bit uneasy, her face turning red again. She told herself to stay calm; he didn't mean anything by it, he was just being a gentleman.
"What's wrong with you tonight? You're acting weird," Caspian said in confusion, "You even thanked me for giving you a portion of lunch. Since when are you so polite with me?"
Wendy, feeling like her thoughts were discovered, looked at him in panic and said, "Isn't it good to be polite?"
"The way you're talking sounds a bit insincere." Caspian sneered.
Wendy ate slowly, feeling very complicated.
Amy finished work and saw Jared's car already parked at the entrance. She happily got into the car.
Blake saw everything clearly from the store and asked a nearby employee, "Who came to pick up Ms. Anderson?"
"Her boyfriend, I guess? This car dropped her off this morning too. We asked, but Ms. Anderson just said it was a friend."
Blake touched his chin, thought for a moment, and then followed. He saw the car stop at the red light ahead, quickly got into his car, and followed.
