Chapter 368 Wendy Cooks
Oscar glanced at his phone and casually said, "You can forgive her if you want, but I won't."
"How do you know I've forgiven her?" Lillian asked, puzzled.
Oscar chuckled, "Lillian, I know you. You're soft-hearted and kind. As long as she says a few words to gain sympathy, you won't be able to resist and will forgive her."
Lillian didn't say anything, which was as good as admitting it.
Alexander glanced at them and said to Oscar, "Alright, I've said what I needed to say. Think it over. Lillian and I are heading downstairs. You should rest."
Outside the room, Lillian asked, "What did you say to Oscar? He didn't seem to take your words seriously. I doubt he'll listen to you."
As they walked downstairs, Alexander said, "You can't rush Oscar into this. If you push too hard, he'll resist. We need to take it slow. But you, have you come to terms with it and forgiven her?"
"Honey, I think some decisions are made in an instant. When I saw her just now, I suddenly felt we looked so alike. It was as if a voice in my head said, 'This is your mother.' Honey, you know I long for a mother's love. Why should I dwell on the past? Now that she's back and can give me motherly love, that's what I want."
"It's great that you think that way. Even if you hate her deeply, the bond between mother and daughter can dissolve it. That's the power of family!" Alexander was genuinely happy to see her being so open-minded and not dwelling on the past, adding to her troubles and hatred.
"You don't need to worry too much about Oscar's thoughts. Accepting and forgiving her is just a matter of time," he comforted her. "Oscar is not a child anymore. He knows what he's doing. No matter what, we will respect his choice."
"I know."
A couple of days later, Clara came to visit Lillian again, bringing lots of food, clothes, and toys for Henry and William. She also bought clothes and shoes for Lillian and Oscar and even got something for Alexander.
After that, Clara took Lillian shopping, and they had meals, beauty treatments, manicures, and even went to the movies. Clara also took Lillian to the countryside where she had been as a child, reminiscing. As they spent more time together, they went from being strangers to becoming familiar, and the awkwardness faded as their bond grew stronger.
With the care of a mother's love, Lillian was overjoyed every day. Alexander was happy to see this and took her and Lucas to see the Northern Lights in mid-January.
Originally, they wanted to take Oscar, but they were worried about his health. After consulting Steven, who said it was not advisable, they decided not to take him.
Alexander taking Lillian on a trip made Wendy extremely envious, and she excitedly sent several messages in the group chat.
Angela, on the other hand, was very calm. She never cared much about these displays of happiness and only reminded Lillian in the group chat to be careful and not get lost in a foreign country.
Wendy put down the phone, sighed lightly, and said to herself, "How nice."
Caspian, who was replacing a broken faucet, asked nonchalantly, "What's so nice? You've been excited for a while now!"
"Alexander took Lillian on a trip abroad. I'm so envious. I want to travel abroad too, but I don't have the time or the money," Wendy said, watching him struggle with the new faucet. "Can you handle it?"
The time they had agreed upon had arrived, and they were back to being good friends. Caspian was straightforward, and Wendy hid her feelings well, returning to the state they were in before she confessed. They got along quite well this way.
Caspian didn't say anything, quickly and efficiently replacing the faucet. He turned on the water valve, and the water flowed out.
"See if I can handle it!" Caspian tossed the tools onto the table and said, "Alexander went abroad? I didn't know that. What's there to be envious of? If you want to go on a trip, I'll take you!"
"Forget it," Wendy said, putting away the tools. Seeing that it was already past three in the afternoon, she invited him to stay for dinner.
"What can you cook?" Caspian asked leisurely.
"I can cook all kinds of simple dishes," Wendy said, rummaging through the fridge. "There's quite a lot of food in here. I'll cook it all."
Caspian nodded, "Sure, anything is fine. I'm not picky."
He had thought that Wendy, being pampered by her family, was exaggerating when she said she could cook. But the reality was quite the opposite. In less than an hour, she had prepared a table full of dinner, and he was stunned when it was served.
The dinner Wendy made was visually appealing, aromatic, and delicious.
Caspian couldn't help but say in surprise, "You really can cook."
Wendy placed the utensils in front of him and laughed, " You underestimated me!"
They sat across from each other, eating and chatting.
Suddenly, there was the sound of a door opening. It was Wendy's roommate Kimberly and her boyfriend Nathan Jones.
Kimberly walked in with a stern expression, and when she saw Caspian, she was momentarily surprised but quickly forced a smile and said, "Mr. Wade, you're here. Enjoy your meal. I'll go to my room."
Before she could close the door, Nathan tried to force his way in, angrily saying, "Let me in!"
Kimberly struggled to keep the door closed, "Leave. We're breaking up!"
Wendy turned to look, a hint of fear on her face, and continued eating.
"I don't agree to break up! You'll never leave me!" Nathan shouted angrily, pushing the door open with force.
"Stay away from me!" Kimberly screamed in terror from inside the room.
Caspian stood up with a serious expression and walked towards the room. Wendy quickly put down her fork and followed him.
Inside the room, Nathan had Kimberly pinned down, his arm raised high, ready to slap her. Caspian quickly walked over and grabbed his wrist.
"Hitting a woman is not something a man should do!" Caspian had a serious look on his face, his eyes cold as he looked at Nathan.
Nathan, with his chin up, said defiantly, "What's it to you? This is our business!"
Nathan tried to shake off Caspian's hand, but Caspian held on tightly, not letting go.
"You're not even married yet, so it's not your business!" Caspian sneered, using his strength to pull Nathan off Kimberly and throw him to the ground.
Nathan was furious. He quickly got up, clenching his jaw, and said, "What, you want to fight? Don't think you can be so arrogant just because you're the landlord. I'm not afraid of you!"
"I wouldn't even bother fighting someone like you!" Caspian took out his phone and made a call. Two minutes later, two security guards arrived.
"Remember, this guy is not allowed in the community anymore!" Caspian instructed.
"Got it, Mr. Wade. We'll take him out right away," the burly security guards said, each grabbing one of Nathan's arms and dragging him out.
