Chapter 327 How Could He Like It?

Caspian couldn't stand up and twisted his head to call her, "Come back and help me up!"

Wendy stopped in her tracks, turned around, and looked at him angrily. "Serves you right," With that, she went inside.

Seeing her leave so heartlessly, Caspian cursed under his breath and tried to stand up on his own. Suddenly, someone else came out from inside. Without looking back, he said, "Whoever it is, come over and give me a hand."

Evelyn quickly walked over, grabbed his arm, and helped him up with some effort, asking, "What happened? How did you fall?"

Seeing it was Evelyn, Caspian thanked her indifferently and said, "I just lost my balance and fell."

"Where are you going now? Do you want to sit in the yard or go inside?" Evelyn asked.

"Thank you. I can walk on my own." Caspian gave her a distant nod, took the cane from her hand, tucked it under his arm, and hobbled towards the shade of the umbrella.

Evelyn stood there watching him, acutely aware of his distant demeanor. He used to cling to her constantly, and now, out of the blue, he didn't anymore. To be honest, it left her feeling a bit deflated. She knew this sense of deflation had nothing to do with love; it was merely her vanity acting up.

Ignoring him, Evelyn turned back inside. She had come out earlier because she saw him fall through the floor-to-ceiling window.

Caspian pretended to be absorbed in his phone, but as soon as he heard her footsteps fade away, the flicker of hope within him extinguished, leaving him disheartened. He tossed his phone onto the table, brooding in frustration.

Wendy was also sulking, angrily returning to the entertainment room.

"What's wrong with you, going out to take a call and coming back so angry?" Lillian handed her a piece of watermelon cautiously and asked, "Did your mom scold you on the phone again?"

Wendy took a sudden, voracious bite of the watermelon, nearly biting Lillian's hand in the process, and angrily demanded, "Lillian, do you think all men are jerks?"

Lillian was taken aback, thought for a moment, and said, "Some men are, but my husband doesn't seem to be."

Angela snickered."Wendy, you shouldn't be asking Lillian this question." She waved her over and said, "Come here and tell me what's bothering you."

Realizing she had misspoken, Wendy quickly stuffed her mouth with grapes and said, "Nothing. My roommate had another fight with her boyfriend and cried to me about it. It made me a bit angry."

However, not fooled by her poor acting, Angela sat down next to her, and with just a glance, Wendy's guilty eyes darted around, not daring to meet hers.

"Do you want to confess on your own, or should I ask?" Angela crossed her legs, folded her arms, leaned back on the sofa, and asked leisurely.

Lillian was happily watching on the side. She loved Angela's confident aura at times like this, as if she already knew everything and was just waiting for Wendy to admit it, while she still had no idea what was going on with Wendy.

"I have nothing to confess." Wendy turned to Lillian, "Lillian, please talk to her; tell her not to be so sensitive."

Angela nonchalantly said, "So what's going on with you and Caspian? Have you fallen for him?"

"No. Don't jump to conclusions." Wendy stammered.

Lillian's eyes widened in surprise. "Wendy, have you fallen for Caspian?"

'It hasn't even crossed my mind. When I talked to Wendy before, she made it clear she didn't like the idea of her and Caspian together and even said it was never going to happen. How does she fall for him so quickly?' Lillian wondered.

Angela sneered, "Don't deny it; it's written all over your face. Liking someone is nothing to be ashamed of; we won't laugh at you!"

Wendy lowered her head in embarrassment and, after a moment, nodded in acknowledgment.

"When did you start liking him? Does he know?" Lillian asked.

Wendy whispered, "It was after the car accident. He protected me without regard for his safety, so I was moved. Of course, he doesn't know, as he never pays attention to me."

"In that situation, it's easy to be moved." Lillian tilted her head and said, "But wasn't it just a coincidence?"

Wendy said dejectedly, "I never planned to tell him. He likes Evelyn, so I'll just love him silently."

"Do you think you’re all that great? Secretly in love? Stop fooling yourself." Angela smacked her on the head and said seriously, "Wendy, you're my friend. I can't just watch you fall into a trap without helping you."

"Liking Caspian is falling into a trap?" Wendy asked defiantly.

Lillian said, "Wendy, Angela, and I aren't trying to interfere with your feelings. You can make your own decisions, but we should help you analyze the pros and cons so you can judge if being with him is right for you."

"I don't need analysis to know that our social statuses are worlds apart, and he doesn't love me. There's no benefit, only harm." Wendy said painfully, tears welling up.

Angela handed her a tissue to wipe her tears and teased, "We haven't even started talking yet, and you're already in tears. Are you intentionally trying to stop our conversation?"

Wendy pouted and wiped her tears, saying nothing.

Angela continued, "The difference in social status is secondary. Look at Lillian; she and Alexander fell in love despite that. The most crucial issue is that Caspian does not love you. Even if you were to confess your feelings now, he wouldn't reciprocate. And fostering affection over time may not necessarily win his heart."

"Why? Am I that bad?" Wendy asked, frowning in confusion.

"No, you're just not his type!" Angela said seriously, "You can be friends with him, but not lovers."

"Angela, do you know what type Caspian likes?" Lillian asked curiously.

Angela rolled her eyes. "Of course, he likes someone like Evelyn!"

"You are right!" Lillian laughed at herself, "Evelyn is outgoing, a bit hot-tempered, and always gives him a hard time. Does Caspian have a masochistic tendency?"

"It's not a masochistic tendency. Caspian just likes strong-willed people, while Wendy is gentle. How could he like her?" Angela said.

The tears Wendy had just wiped away welled up again instantly.
