Chapter 133 Grandparents Are Back
When Lillian returned home from work, she was surprised to find that Alexander had already arrived and was playing with Luke in the yard, flying a drone.
"Lillian, you're back," Luke said excitedly. "Look, Mr. Alexander bought this for me today!"
Lillian patted Luke's head and then looked at Alexander, curiously asking, "Did your social engagement end so early?"
Alexander replied, "The engagement wasn't supposed to last long. It ended in just over two hours."
"Alright," Lillian continued, "Didn't you get drunk?"
"Mr. Alexander didn't get drunk!" Luke interjected.
Seeing that Alexander didn't respond to her, Lillian turned and went back into the house.
Kelly had prepared dinner and was waiting for her to eat together. Lillian went to her room to change clothes and then headed to the dining room.
"Did Oscar go back to school? Did he message you?" Kelly asked as she served her some food.
Lillian said, "He sent me a message on Facebook this afternoon."
Melvin looked at her with concern and asked, "Lillian, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
Kelly agreed. "I also feel like Lillian seems a bit down."
Lillian smiled at them. "I'm not unwell, just tired from work."
"Then after you eat, go to bed early, and don't play with your phone at night," Kelly said with a look of concern. "I'll make some tonic for you tomorrow, and Alexander should have some too."
Lillian replied, "Kelly, you can make it for him. I don't need it."
"Kelly, make a bit more tomorrow. You and Melvin should have some as well. Early spring makes it easy to get sick. Therefore, everyone should take care," Alexander said as he walked in.
"Alright, I'll make it tomorrow morning," Kelly replied.
Lillian looked up at him and asked, "Are we still having the language lesson tonight?"
Alexander took a bottle of cold water from the fridge and looked at her, saying, "Of course, come to the study after you finish eating."
Lillian nodded and continued eating.
As usual, Lillian prepared Alexander coffee after supper and went to the study. When Alexander saw her come in, he casually picked up the book and said, "Bring a chair over and sit next to me."
Lillian put down the coffee, moved a chair over, and sat down. Her face was cold, and her emotions were clearly displayed.
Alexander pretended not to notice and began to teach her from the book.
After more than ten minutes, he asked, "Did you understand this part?"
She nodded. "Yes."
"Repeat what I just explained," he said, putting down the pen.
She stared at him blankly. Her mind was elsewhere, so she didn't hear him.
"Mr. Sinclair, I should enroll in a language class myself. I feel quite ashamed to trouble you every day," Lillian said.
Alexander cast a glance at her, saying, "Don't tell me these useless things. Just repeat it."
"Sorry, I didn't listen just now." Lillian admitted frankly.
"You weren't paying attention in class. What were you thinking about?" Alexander asked, displeased.
From the moment Lillian came in, she had been absent-minded, which was infuriating.
Lillian gripped her pen, hesitated for a moment, and then mustered the courage to say, "I was thinking, can you ask Shae to stop saying those things to me? It really disgusts me!" After saying this, she felt a sense of relief, though her words were too harsh.
"Is that why you're upset tonight?" Alexander asked. "So now you're giving me the cold shoulder."
Lillian looked up at him, a bit fearful. "I'm not giving you the cold shoulder, but I feel a bit uncomfortable."
"Does it bother you to see me having dinner with her?" Alexander pressed further.
Lillian straightened up and denied it. "Don't say that. I don't feel upset."
"It's best if you don't feel that way," Alexander said, picking up the pen again. "I'll explain it to you once more. This time, listen carefully!"
"I understand," Lillian said, temporarily pushing aside the chaotic thoughts in her mind to focus on the lesson.
Over an hour later, the lesson ended.
Lillian said to him, "Alexander, you don't have to work so hard. I can enroll in a language class."
"With your current level, you wouldn't be able to keep up with the class," Alexander said, standing up and stretching his arms. "I know what you're thinking. There is nothing between me and Shae."
Lillian stared at him, stunned. He was explaining to her.
Alexander looked at her openly and explained, "Don't misunderstand. I explain because I'm your nominal husband, and I have that obligation." After saying this, he left the study without waiting for her to respond.
Alexander closed the study door, feeling very frustrated. 'I didn't need to say those things to her. Why did I feel the need to explain? Do I really like her?' He was confused himself.
Lillian stood there, pondering his words, not understanding what he meant.
That night, back in her room, Lillian went on the forum again. There were many new comments, all asking about the progress of the story between the Seventh Princess and Crazia Alex. The Seventh Princess thought for a moment and wrote about Shae's return on the forum, which sparked intense discussion! Reading everyone's replies, all advising her to be cautious, made Lillian fall into deep thought again.
Two days later, Alexander's grandparents, Linda Romero and Justin Sinclair, returned from abroad. Alexander took Lillian directly from the company to the airport to pick them up.
In the car, Linda held Lillian's hand and examined her closely, smiling kindly. Lillian felt a bit embarrassed under her gaze but found Linda very endearing.
"Grandma," Lillian couldn't help but smile. "Do you have something you want to ask me?"
Linda shook her head with a smile, saying, "I have nothing to ask. I hope you and Alexander get along well."
Justin, with a stern face, said to Linda, "Stop staring. You're scaring Lillian."
"I like looking at our beautiful granddaughter-in-law! Don't mind me!" Linda replied assertively.
Alexander, both helpless and amused, said, "Don't argue. Get along harmoniously."
"I would never argue with her!" Justin said proudly.
Linda ignored him, holding Lillian's hand tightly. She liked her more and more and chatted with her.
Beatrice and her family were also at Sinclair Villa. Justin and Linda looked at them but said little, their attitude indifferent.
"Dad, Mom, you must be tired from the flight. I made some coffee," Beatrice said with a smile, picking up a coffee cup.
Linda unceremoniously pushed her aside with her cane and said to Samantha, "You are Ethan's wife, and you let a mistress speak first. Come here and sit next to me."
