Chapter 346 Wendy Gave Up the Idea of Confessing
Amos smiled calmly. "Mr. Wade, your casual remarks could scare me. I have genuine feelings for Evelyn. If she hears this, aren't you just trying to sow discord?"
Caspian sneered, "Do you even need me to sow discord? Don't you have your ulterior motives?"
"What ulterior motives do I have? Mr. Wade, you are baffling!" Amos said, somewhat annoyed and embarrassed. "Mr. Wade, today is the Sinclair family's banquet. I don't want to cause any trouble. I hope you won't say such things in the future!" With that, he turned to leave, happening to see Wendy standing behind them, which startled him. He glared at her angrily and left in a huff.
Caspian stood there, looking down at the flowers in his hand, his eyes full of worry and helplessness.
Wendy stood quietly behind him, thinking, 'So, Caspian knows about Amos's ulterior motives too. What will he do?'
The worry in Caspian's eyes dispelled Wendy's courage and thoughts of confessing. "What are you daydreaming about?" She stepped forward, glancing at the flowers in his hand with a gloating expression, and said, "You're done for. These flowers are Lillian's favorites, specially flown in and planted by Mr. Sinclair. And you just picked them! When she sees this, she's going to scold you!"
Caspian snapped out of it, looked at her speechlessly, and said, "Wendy, how can you be so dumb? You can't even lie properly. Imported from abroad? Why not say they were transported from space? These flowers are from my family's garden."
Wendy, caught in her lie, wasn't embarrassed; instead, she smiled at him and said, "I was just teasing you."
Caspian threw the flowers into her hands and turned to leave.
Wendy watched his back; knowing he was in a bad mood because of Evelyn, she also felt down and started thinking about how to make Amos break up with Evelyn.
The celebration party for Henry and William was very joyful. Many friends and families brought their gifts and offered many blessings. They were very cooperative, laughing constantly and not crying or fussing, making them particularly endearing.
Evelyn, holding William, liked him very much and said to Lillian, "Lillian, can I take him to my place for a couple of days?"
Before Lillian could respond, Alexander took William back and said, "How can you say such things? Of course not!"
Evelyn pouted, "Your son is so adorable."
"If you like kids, you can have your own," Alexander said, walking away with William.
Lillian laughed and repeated to Evelyn, "Yes, if you like kids, you can have your own."
Evelyn rolled her eyes, took Amos's arm, and said, "Amos, they're ganging up on me."
"It's okay, honey. If you like kids, we can have one." Amos said with a smile.
Hearing this, Lillian quickly said to Evelyn, "Evelyn, taking care of a child is very tiring, and you're not married yet. Don't get pregnant before marriage."
Amos said, "Lillian, don't worry, I won't let Evelyn get pregnant before marriage. We'll get married before considering having children."
"Who said I want to marry you? Don't flatter yourself." Evelyn said, pretending to be serious as if she didn't have that intention.
Amos said, "You're my girlfriend. If you don't marry me, who will you marry?" As he spoke, he pulled her into his arms.
"Let go of me." Evelyn couldn't keep a straight face anymore and started laughing, playfully pushing him away.
Disgusted by Amos's pretentious affection, Lillian walked away speechlessly.
The party ended, and everyone was about to leave.
Before leaving, Justin and Linda warned Ethan, "We don't care about the matters between you and Beatrice. But if you want to divorce Samantha, we won't agree. Even if Beatrice is pregnant, we still won't let her marry you!"
Ethan sighed as he watched them get into the car and leave.
Bernice and Leah accompanied Samantha out. Seeing Ethan looking dejected, like a young man whose marriage wasn't approved by his parents.
"Dad," Bernice walked over and asked, "How did you get here? Where's the driver?"
Ethan snapped out of it, smiled at Bernice, and said, "He's waiting at the community gate."
Leah said, "Dad, you are going back to Beatrice's, right? Then we will leave first. Be careful on your way back."
Ethan looked at Samantha; despite her delicate makeup, she seemed exhausted. He couldn't help but say, "Take good care of your mother."
Samantha, looking tired but still strong, said, "You should take care of yourself!"
"Mom," Leah tugged at her, "Dad is just concerned about you."
"Concerned about me? Can't you see through his pretense?" Samantha said angrily. "I know exactly what he's up to. Does he think he can divorce me? No way."
Bernice said calmly, "Mom, there are still guests around. Don't make a scene. Let's go."
Ethan watched Bernice and Leah escort Samantha away and shook his head helplessly.
Alexander walked over from behind and said, "Dad, I'll give you a ride."
Most of the guests had left; Theodore was the last one, and he walked up to Angela and said, "Dr. Turner, would you mind giving me a ride?"
"You didn't drive?" she asked curiously.
He said helplessly, "I hitched a ride here."
Angela smiled. "Alright, get in!"
Theodore got in the car, pulled over the seatbelt, and said with a smile, "It seems like you always give me a ride after every gathering."
"I think so too. It's okay; we live in the same community. I can drop you off at your doorstep." Angela teased.
Theodore said, "By the way, in that trip group, everyone is planning a dinner next week. Would you be available?"
"Really? I didn't notice." Angela said, focusing on driving.
"Last night. I saw you weren't active in the group, so I figured you missed it and wanted to ask you." Theodore said.
Angela thought for a moment and said, "I'll go. It would be rude not to; they took good care of us during the trip."
"I thought so too. I'll let them know." Theodore opened his phone and sent a message to the group. Soon, he received a voice reply, "Mr. Wellington, you're only replying now. Did you have to ask Dr. Turner for permission? Not to be rude, but you are a henpecked husband."
