Chapter 290 Lillian Received Many Gifts
Lillian's Birthday
In the morning, before she was fully awake, Alexander hugged her from behind and whispered in her ear, "Happy birthday, honey. I love you."
This was the first time Alexander had said "I love you" to her. She immediately woke up, blushing and with a racing heart, and responded, "I love you too, honey."
Alexander gently turned her around and kissed her lightly on the lips, smirking, "Your voice was too soft, I didn't hear it."
With a smile in her eyes, she repeated, "Honey, I said I love you too, I love you"
Like a magician, Alexander produced a jewelry box from who knows where and said sincerely, "Honey, this is the first birthday gift I am giving you. From now on, I will give you a different gift every year on your birthday."
Lillian was so moved that she almost cried. She took the jewelry box and slowly opened it to find a diamond ring with a sparkling diamond.
"I originally thought of giving you the ring at our wedding, but I felt that waiting until then would be a bit too late. You're already my wife, and even though we haven't had the wedding, the ring is a symbol of eternity. I need to put it on your finger to bind your heart to mine forever."
As Alexander spoke, he gently placed the ring on her slender finger.
Lillian was so emotional that she finally shed tears. She looked at the ring and took a couple of deep breaths, "Thank you, honey. I love this gift so much!"
"I'm glad you like it. Don't cry, it's not good to cry on your birthday." Alexander wiped her tears and gently coaxed her, "Get up now, Gina made pasta for you this morning."
Lillian clung to his neck, acting spoiled, "Honey, you're so sweet. I love you so much."
Alexander laughed. How could he not be happy hearing such straightforward declarations of love?
"I know, I love you too," he responded, his words filled with deep affection.
After holding each other for a while, they got up, washed up, changed clothes, and went downstairs. In the dining room, Oscar and Lucas clapped and cheered in unison when they saw Lillian, "Happy birthday, Lillian! We wish you become more and more beautiful and happy every day."
Their voices weren't very loud, giving her time to adjust as she entered, so as not to startle her.
Lillian smiled, "Thank you for your heartfelt wishes."
Oscar and Lucas handed her their gifts, saying, "We hope you like them."
"No matter what you give me, I will like it," Lillian said happily as she accepted the gifts.
The family enjoyed a happy meal together. During the meal, Alexander received a work call. After a few words, he became visibly angry and said sternly, "I'll discuss this when I get back to the office!"
Lillian asked, "What's going on?"
"Keep eating, I'll go to the company and check it out. I'll be back soon."
Alexander went to change into a suit, and Lillian saw him off to the car, watching him leave.
"Lillian, it's just company stuff. Alexander will be back after he handles it," Oscar said nonchalantly.
Lillian nodded, "You see, Alexander seems so successful on the surface, but in reality, he works very hard every day. It makes me feel sorry for him"
"Yeah, being a CEO is not that easy," Oscar agreed.
As Lillian and Oscar stood at the door talking, another car pulled up.
"Who is it, coming over so early in the morning?" Oscar asked, puzzled as he looked at the person in the car.
Lillian looked closely too, "It seems like Leah is here."
As she finished speaking, Leah stepped out of the car in high heels.
"Lillian," she called out to Lillian.
Leah had received quite a few things from Alexander before, including branded bags and jewelry, so it was normal for her to come for Lillian's birthday.
Lillian was taken aback, surprised that Leah would come over to celebrate her birthday. It was truly unbelievable.
She responded straightforwardly, "Why are you here so early? Is there something you need?"
As she spoke, they entered the house.
Leah said helplessly, "It's your birthday today. My grandma called me yesterday, reminding me to come over early to give you your birthday gift. I couldn't come late, she made me get up early to come over."
Hearing that it was Linda's idea, Lillian felt touched, "How is she doing lately?"
Leah replied, "She's living in the countryside, happily enjoying a pastoral life. ."
She took out a red brocade box from her bag and said, "This is from my grandma. It's a very valuable bracelet."
"My grandma dotes on you!" Leah said with a hint of jealousy.
Lillian was astonished, "It's so valuable? I'm almost afraid to accept it."
"You have to take it. If my grandma finds out you didn't, she'll be upset. Take it, it's not like this is the only piece of jewelry we have at home," Leah said, inadvertently showing disdain.
Lillian said, "Alright then, I'll accept it. Thank you, Linda."
Leah then took out an envelope from her bag and handed it to her, "This is from my mom."
Inside was a check for $660,000.
"My mom said she didn't know what to get you, so she decided to give you money. You probably like this better, right?"
Lillian glanced at her and said, "Gifts from elders are all thoughtful. I like them all."
Leah pursed her lips and then finally took out her gift, and said, "This is from me."
This surprised her. Leah, who always had a superior attitude in front of her, actually gave her a birthday gift? Unbelievable.
"Don't overthink it. I'm only giving you this because of Alexander. I'm still not satisfied with you."
Lillian happily accepted the gift, not caring much about her words.' What does it matter if you're satisfied or not? I'm not living with you, as long as Alexander is satisfied with me, that's enough.'
"Thanks."
Early in the morning, Lillian received many gifts and was overjoyed. This was the most gifts she had ever received on her birthday, seemingly making up for all the ones she didn't get as a child.
Alexander's Office
After finishing a meeting, Alexander returned to his office. The internal phone rang, and Kaitlyn asked, "Mr. Sinclair, Shae is here and wants to see you."
