Chapter 424 Another Storm Arises

Wendy quickly finished eating, quietly went to the outer room, and said to Caspian, "Ms. Phillips is looking for you? I don't have anything else here, you can go back."

Caspian replied, "It's about her company, nothing important. I told her to handle it herself."

Wendy pondered for a moment and said, "I'm afraid of delaying your important matters. Ms. Phillips needs you right now."

"Do you need me now?" Caspian looked at her intensely and asked in a low voice.

Wendy thought for a moment and said, "Is it really important whether I need you or not? I'm not anyone special to you."

Caspian was taken aback and didn't know how to respond.

At this moment, the doctor came in with a nurse for rounds.

After a brief inquiry, the doctor said to Wendy, "Come to my office, I have some test results for you."

"Okay." Wendy obediently followed him out.

Caspian, sensing something was off, followed them out, feeling uneasy.

Wendy went to the doctor's office, sat down, and looked at the report the doctor handed her. The doctor said, "We found some issues with your mother's breast during the examination."

Wendy looked down at the report, and the words "breast tumor" caught her eye.

"Is it cancer?" Wendy asked fearfully, her voice tightening.

The doctor said, "We need further tests to determine that. I'm telling you now so you can be ready."

"What if it is cancer? Will it need to be removed? How risky is it?" Wendy asked anxiously, tears streaming down her face.

The doctor said, "We recommend removal. Don't be too scared; if it's benign, it's not a big problem." He handed her a tissue.

"Thank you." Wendy took the tissue, wiping her nose and tears. "So now we just wait for more tests and results?"

"Yeah, you need to be ready."

"I understand, thank you, doctor." Wendy took the report and left the office, still wiping her tears.

Caspian came over and asked, confused, "What's wrong?"

Seeing Caspian, Wendy couldn't hold back and started crying uncontrollably, unable to speak.

"Don't cry." Caspian wiped her tears with his hand. "I'll go ask the doctor."

"Don't go." Wendy grabbed him, her voice hoarse.

In the small garden downstairs.

Caspian looked at the report in his hand and furrowed. "What did the doctor say?"

"The doctor said if it's benign, it's not a big deal. He told me now to be ready.." Wendy said, thinking about her mother's illness, feeling extremely sad, and tears started flowing again.

Seeing this, Caspian took out a tissue to wipe her tears and said, "Don't cry yet. There's no conclusion. Wait for the test results. What if it's benign?"

"But my mom still needs surgery! Just thinking about it makes me feel terrible." Wendy started crying loudly again.

Her crying drew the attention of passersby, who thought they were a couple fighting.

Caspian covered her mouth and said, "Look at you, your parents are fine, and you're already falling apart. You need to pull yourself together."

"Caspian." Wendy's mouth was covered, her big eyes filled with tears, looking at him pitifully. She mumbled from his palm, "Do you think my mom will be okay?"

"She will be!" Caspian said firmly. "Your mother is a lucky person; she won't get such a disease."

"Really?" Wendy asked, pouting.

Caspian pulled her into his arms and whispered seriously in her ear, "Of course, it's true. When have I ever lied to you? Don't worry, your mother will be fine."

"Okay." Wendy rested her chin on his shoulder, inhaling his unique scent. This hug gave her endless security.

After a while, Wendy's emotions calmed down, and she sat up from his embrace.

"Caspian, thank you for comforting me. I feel better now."

Caspian joked, "Looks like my hug did some good."

He then advised her, "When we go back, don't cry. And wash your face."

"I'm afraid I won't be able to hold back." Wendy pouted.

Caspian stood up, pulled her up, and slowly walked back inside, saying, "I'll tell you some jokes. When you feel like crying, think of the jokes, and you won't cry."

"Alright, I hope your jokes can make me laugh."

They returned to the ward, and Jessica complained, "Why did it take so long to get a report?"

"Wendy said she wanted to eat Atlanter's special burger, so I took her to have a few," Caspian said with a smile.

Jessica rolled her eyes at Wendy.

Patrick asked, "Where's the report? Is there any problem?"

The doctor had given her two insignificant reports earlier. She took them out and showed them to Patrick, saying, "No problem, everything is within normal range."

Jessica held a report and said, "Wendy, come here and explain what this means."

Wendy sat next to her mother, looking at the report. She felt a surge of emotion, her nose tingling, and tears welling up in her eyes.

"Looking at the test results, everything seems fine." She sniffed, holding back her tears. Then she took a tissue, pretended to blow her nose, and left the ward.

Caspian watched Wendy's back and sighed silently.

Later, Jessica was scheduled for a biopsy. The days waiting for the results were particularly torturous for Wendy, fearing the results would be unfavorable.

Caspian took care of the meals every day. Jessica and Patrick, seeing his persistence, didn't tell him to leave. After taking care of their meals, he also comforted Wendy, encouraging her to face the situation bravely, even if it was cancer.

Friday, the day the results were due.

On the way to the doctor's office, Wendy felt like her feet were heavy, and her hands were sweating from nervousness.

"Wendy, let me ask the doctor for you." Caspian couldn't bear to see her like this and offered to ask the doctor.

Wendy shook her head and said, "I'm fine. I can handle whatever it is."

She was trembling as she went to the doctor's office.

"Doctor, does my mom have cancer?" She asked cautiously, staring intently at the doctor.

The doctor looked at the test results and said, "I'm sorry, the situation is not very optimistic. It's breast cancer."
