Chapter 271 Ethan Is Sick

Lillian was woken up by the sound of rain outside and came out of her room. Oscar was lying on the couch in the living room playing on his phone. When he saw her come out, he sat up.

"Lillian," he called out.

Lillian lazily sat down next to him, resting her head on his shoulder, and said, "You've been playing all day. Stop playing with your phone all the time"

Oscar chuckled, "Lillian, I'm not lying to you. I had classes in my room this morning. Now I just took a break and played for a bit."

"What classes are you taking?" she asked curiously.

"My roommate recorded the lectures for me, so I won't fall too far behind in my studies."

"That's great. You should thank your roommate. Even though you're on sick leave, they still keep you in their thoughts."

Oscar said hesitantly, "Lillian, it wasn't their idea. Emily asked them to do it."

"Emily?" Lillian was surprised, then became thoughtful, and asked tentatively, "She's being so considerate. Does she have other intentions?"

Oscar, focused on his game, said indifferently, "What intentions could she have? She's just making up for her mistakes. I told her it's unnecessary, I have already forgiven her., but she wouldn't listen."

Lillian trusted her intuition and could tell that Emily had more than just simple thoughts. She must have a crush on Oscar!

"Oscar, it seems like Emily has turned over a new leaf. Do you have any feelings for her?"

Oscar glanced at her and said with amusement, "Lillian, what are you talking about? I don't like her."

"I'm not trying to interfere with your business. I just want to know what you think."

"I know. If I ever like a girl, you'll be the first to know."

Hearing Oscar say this, Lillian felt a bit relieved. It's the best thing that he doesn't like Emily.

Kelly came over with some fruit and asked, "What do you want for dinner? Gina made some chicken soup."

Lillian looked at the rain outside and said, "Let's have Mexican food."

"Okay," Kelly said as she stood up and headed to the kitchen.

In the evening, Alexander and Lucas came back. As soon as they entered the house, they smelled the rich aroma of Mexican food.

"You're back!" Lillian hugged Lucas and said, "Go change your clothes and wash your hands. It's time to eat."

Back in the room, Lillian asked, "You didn't go to the opening ceremony today. Did Ethan call you?"

"He was very angry," Alexander sighed. "Seeing that I didn't go, he went to support it by himself."

"Didn't Samantha stop him? Ethan's been unwell lately, and with this heavy rain, what if his condition worsens?"

"My mom couldn't stop him at all. After all these years, she hasn't been able to stop him from doing anything he wants." Alexander changed into his loungewear and said, "He's really angry. He wanted to go, and I couldn't stop him. My grandparents don't know either."

Just then, Alexander's phone rang. He answered it, and Samantha's voice came through, both angry and helpless, "Alexander, you need to come back. Your father is sick."

Lillian was stunned and looked at Alexander, signaling with her eyes," I knew it."

"How is he now? What's wrong?" he asked.

Samantha, feeling annoyed, said over the phone, "He's been coughing for a while and hasn't gotten better. Today, he braved the heavy rain again to visit Beatrice's newly opened jewelry store and ended up getting soaked and chilled. He just got back and has been running a fever. He refuses to go to the hospital. You need to come and persuade him."

"Didn't grandparents try to stop him?"

"Linda's friend is hosting a charity event tonight, so they went there," Samantha scoffed. "It's only because Justin and Linda aren't around that he dared to go support Beatrice."

Lillian stifled a laugh, her shoulders shaking.

Alexander also let out a cold laugh, "I'll go check on him. But don't expect too much from me. He's angry with me too."

"Just come over first."

After discussing the main issue, Samantha didn't forget to ask about Lillian, "How's Lillian doing? Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine."

After hanging up, Lillian said with a bit of delight, "Samantha still cares about me. I'm quite flattered."

"She still thinks about you," Alexander said, changing into another set of clothes and patting her head. "You guys go ahead and eat. I'll go check on him."

"Don't argue with Ethan when you get back."

"I won't." Alexander kissed her and they both left the room.

At the Sinclair Villa, Ethan was receiving an IV in the back of his hand and had fallen asleep.

The family doctor said to Samantha, "Mr. Sinclair has pneumonia and needs hospital treatment. He also mentioned pain in his right lower back. I'm concerned it might be gallstones. He needs to go to the hospital for a check-up as soon as possible."

Samantha nodded and said, "Thank you."

The family doctor added, "I'll be leaving now. After his IV drip is done, you can take out the needle."

Not long after, Ethan woke up. Seeing only Samantha in the room, he groggily and hoarsely said to her, "Ask Beatrice to come in and pour me a glass of water."

Samantha, hearing this, sneered and asked him, "Where is Beatrice?"

Ethan, confused, took a moment to shake off his reverie and return to his senses, mumbling, " Beatrice isn't here."

He then irritably said to her, "Can't you get me a glass of water?"

Samantha, unwilling to serve him herself, called a maid in to get Ethan some water.

After the maid left, Ethan angrily pointed at her and cursed, "You're so heartless. I'm sick, and you don't care at all! You probably wish I were dead, don't you?"

"Isn't that what you think too? Wishing I were dead so you could marry Beatrice, right?" Samantha glared at him and coldly said, "You're not in good health right now, so don't get worked up. I've already called Alexander back. He should be here soon."

"Why did you call him back? I can't rely on him anyway!" Ethan cursed.

Hearing him curse Alexander, Samantha got angry and said, "Who do you want to rely on? Blake? When you were in trouble in Aetherland, wasn't it Alexander who protected you? Have you forgotten? Beatrice's flattering words swayed you, making you lose your senses and eagerly seek them out once more. You're generous!"

"Get out! I don't need you lecturing me!" he angrily grabbed the water cup from the table and threw it at her.

"You still have the energy to get angry at me. I guess you're fine!" Samantha deliberately said to provoke him and then turned to leave.

Back in the living room, Alexander had arrived.

"Mom, how's Dad?"

"He won't die!" Samantha said angrily, her eyes welling up with tears.

"Did you two have another argument?"

"Go upstairs," Samantha turned slightly, wiped her tears with the back of her hand, and then turned back to him, "Your father has pneumonia, and now the doctor suspects he has gallstones. He needs to be hospitalized as soon as possible. He's throwing a fit and refusing to go to the hospital. I don't want to alarm Justin and Linda. You go and persuade him."
