Chapter 375 Trust!
Alexander said, "The Crawford family is very complicated, with struggles going on for many years. When Ainsley was pregnant, the then head of the family was Jackson's grandfather, Gavin Crawford. He directly announced that Lucas would be the heir of the Crawford family. Many people were unhappy about it, and Lucas suffered a lot when he was young. Later, Jackson saw that things couldn't go on like this, so he handed Lucas over to me to raise."
Lillian curiously asked, "Didn't Jackson have the ability to protect Lucas?"
"He was an illegitimate child of the Crawford family back then and was only brought back after graduating from college. When he first arrived at the Crawford family, he was powerless. Gavin designated Lucas as the heir because there were no boys in their generation, only girls."
"Even so, I think Gavin wanted to give the heir position to Lucas. Jackson must have been liked by Gavin; otherwise, with your wealthy ways, having a son wouldn't be difficult."
Alexander smiled and left it at that.
"Where's Lucas? He must have been scared today," Lillian asked.
"He's still sleeping. Don't worry about him. When we get back, you all should get some psychological counseling," Alexander said, holding her in his arms with a guilty expression. "Honey, I've made you worry again. I feel really bad about it."
Lillian hugged his waist tightly, shaking her head against his chest, and said, "Honey, don't say that. Every time you say that, I feel bad too. Spouses share good times and bad times! Honey, don't apologize to me anymore. As long as I'm with you, no matter what happens, I'll face it with you!"
Lillian's heartfelt words moved Alexander. Trusting and never abandoning each other is most important between a couple! He had done it, and so had his Lily.
"Honey, are we going back the day after tomorrow?"
"Yes, the day after tomorrow," Alexander said, feeling quite angry that this trip had been ruined. "This time, we didn't have a good time. Next time, I'll bring a hundred bodyguards and see who dares to mess with us!"
Lillian smiled, "Alright, let's see who dares to mess with us!"
Then she comforted him, "It's okay. We'll go out again when we have time. Exploring around the country is also nice."
"Honey, are we going back to Aetherland this year?" Lillian asked.
Alexander nodded and said, "Yes, Sunshine are being born this year, so we have to go back."
"I hope nothing unexpected happens this time. It's different now that we have a child. When it was just the two of us, it was easier to handle. Now that we have a child, I'm really afraid of dying," Lillian said sincerely. "Like today in the car, when the car behind us started shooting, I thought, I don't want to die. I have a child and a husband. I can't leave them!"
Alexander solemnly said to her, "There will always be trouble, but I will do my best to protect you and the child!"
"Honey, I will face it with you!" Lillian said seriously.
In the evening, Alexander grilled lamb chops for Lucas. Lucas looked a bit down but was still visibly happy, eating the lamb chops cheerfully.
Lillian watched from the side, feeling a pang of sadness. Lucas, at such a young age, should be carefree, but he was bearing burdens he shouldn't have to. It was truly heartbreaking.
She couldn't help but think of Sunshine. Beatrice was pregnant now, and Blake would have children in the future. Although Alexander was currently in charge of the Sinclair family, the future was complicated. If anything happened, the children would be the first to suffer!
Thinking of this, she broke out in a cold sweat.
Her gaze shifted to Alexander, who was on the phone not far away. Seeing his determined profile, she quickly dismissed her pessimistic thoughts. She couldn't think like that. Alexander was so capable; that he wouldn't be easily defeated. Besides, Justin's opinion on who controlled the Sinclair family was vital. It wouldn't be up to Beatrice and others to act arrogantly.!
She tiredly rubbed her temples, realizing that she had started to ponder these matters.
"Lillian, why aren't you eating?" Lucas handed her a rib and said, "It's delicious."
"Lucas has grown up and become so sensible," she said with a smile, patting his head.
The bodyguards who were supposed to arrive the next day all came that night, surrounding the villa for protection.
The next day, the three of them stayed home and played all day. The following morning, they flew back to the States.
After resting at home for two days, Jackson and Ainsley came to the Sinclair family. Jackson and Alexander went upstairs to the study, while Lillian and Ainsley stayed with the children, drinking tea and chatting.
"I'm sorry for the scare," Ainsley said apologetically to Lillian.
Lillian said nonchalantly, "It's all in the past, and fortunately, none of us got hurt."
Ainsley forced a smile, which looked worse than crying, "We've been bringing Lucas back more frequently lately, and these people couldn't hold back anymore."
"I see your complexion isn't as good as before. Do you want to go to Angela's place for some medicine?" Lillian asked with concern.
Ainsley said, "I've been drinking so much medicine that my tongue is almost numb. I want to take a break. As long as the family issues aren't resolved, I won't get better."
Lillian looked at her sympathetically but didn't know how to comfort her.
Jackson and Ainsley stayed until the afternoon and left after dinner.
When they were leaving, Jackson and Ainsley hugged and kissed Lucas repeatedly, telling him to be good and that they wouldn't be able to visit him for a while.
Lucas nodded obediently and said, "Don't worry about me. Lillian and Uncle Alexander treat me like their own son. You can focus on your work."
Hearing this, Ainsley turned away, covering her mouth to hide her tears from Lucas.
Jackson patted Lucas's shoulder with satisfaction and said, "Lucas, you're the best!"
Lillian put her arm around Lucas's shoulder, watching Jackson and Ainsley leave. Lucas felt sad too, leaning against her without moving for a long time.
This matter came to an end. Lillian then learned about Wendy's foot injury and brought some nutritious food and delicious treats made by Kelly to her house.
Caspian opened the door and was surprised to see her, "Lillian? When did you get back?"
"Several days ago," Lillian said as she came in and put the things on the table. "Caspian, you've had a tough time these past few days."
Caspian said indifferently, "It's nothing, just doing a good deed."
Wendy came out of the room in a wheelchair, exclaiming, "Lillian, you're finally back!"
