Chapter 125 Attending the Meeting

Shae lowered her head and ate slowly. Seeing that Alexander was not speaking to her and was just focused on his meal, she thought for a moment and said to him, "Alexander, I'll wait for you after work today. Let's go back to Sinclair Villa together. It's been a long time since I saw your father and mother. Besides, I want to meet your wife."

"There's nothing special about meeting my wife," Alexander said indifferently. "Don't visit Sinclair Villa tonight. We'll talk about it later."

Shae poked at her food with a fork, feeling a bit aggrieved. "Alexander, I think it's so unfair. Your mother dislikes me because of Amy, but I haven't done anything wrong."

"My mom doesn't dislike you. Just eat," Alexander replied, not wanting to discuss the topic further.

"Really? Then why don't you want me to visit your parents?" Shae pressed on, her tone demanding an explanation.

Alexander put down his fork and looked at her with displeasure. Shae's eyes, like those of a fawn, looked back at him with a mix of grievance, confusion, and inquiry.

After a few seconds of staring at each other, Alexander averted his gaze and said, "Fine, if you want to go, I agree."

He couldn't resist those bright eyes that resembled Amy's, as if Amy were looking at him, always making him compromise involuntarily.

"Alright," Shae said with a smile. "Don't forget to ask your wife to come back to Sinclair Villa too."

Alexander, both angry and helpless, said, "I don't know if having a friend like you is a blessing or a curse for Evelyn. Do you and Caspian enjoy exchanging information?"

"Alexander, don't say it so harshly, okay?" Shae said righteously, "We're just caring for the people we love through each other. Is that wrong?" As soon as she finished speaking, she realized she had said too much and quickly covered her mouth, looking at him with embarrassment.

Alexander looked at her and said solemnly, "Shae, I'm married. So, focus your energy on someone else."

"Can't I silently like you in my heart? I haven't done anything to ruin your marriage. You can't say such hurtful things to me," Shae said, her face slightly red with dissatisfaction.

Alexander frowned slightly at her. When he was about to say something more, his phone rang in his pocket. He answered it, said a few words, and then hung up.

"Do you have to go back to the office? It's not work time yet," Shae asked.

Alexander scoffed. "A CEO doesn't have time off. Let's go."

As he spoke, he picked up his tray and turned around just in time to see Lillian sitting there, their eyes meeting in the air.

Lillian had been staring at the two of them. When Alexander noticed her, she quickly lowered her head, feeling guilty. Shortly after, a shadow fell over her. Alexander said coldly, "Ms. Hill, have you finished eating? If so, come back to the office with me."

"Mr. Sinclair, What's the matter?" Lillian asked, shielding her eyes with her hand to avoid looking at him.

"Asking you to come to the office. It's obviously for work, not for a nap," Alexander said irritably, placing his tray on the table and instructing her, "Clean up the trays and follow me!"

"Get it," Lillian said, stacking the trays and heading towards the window, muttering under her breath, "Why is he still so grumpy? Isn't she mad yet?"

Shae followed Alexander back to the office. While Alexander immersed himself in work, she wandered around, looking and touching things nostalgically.

"Alexander, how about I become your secretary? Like a personal assistant," Shae suddenly asked excitedly.

"No," Alexander replied without hesitation, his eyes still fixed on the computer.

Shae scoffed, "Why not? I've worked as a secretary abroad. I'm very professional. Besides, I need to find a job now that I'm back. Working by your side would be stress-free for me. It's perfect."

Alexander glanced at her. "Aren't you going to work at the Anderson Group?"

"I'm not going," she responded casually as if she didn't want to elaborate.

Alexander didn't press further and continued with his work.

Lillian knocked and entered, asking, "Mr. Sinclair, Are there any tasks for me?"

Alexander told her, "Notify all department heads to meet in the main conference room after work. Where's Kaitlyn?"

"She says she is going to take a nap and might be back by work time," Lillian replied.

"Then we won't wait for her. You come to the meeting with me," Alexander said, standing up. He then turned to Shae and said, "Stay here and don't wander around."

"Alright," Shae replied, giving Lillian a faint smile.

Lillian smiled back and nodded slightly, then followed Alexander out of the office.

As the meeting began, Lillian realized it was about an urgent situation at the company's overseas branch. The entire meeting was conducted in a foreign language via video conference with the overseas branch manager.

As a secretary, she needed to take notes, which was challenging for her. However, the situation was manageable. On the one hand, her crash course in the foreign language improved her skills. On the other hand, she cleverly turned on her phone's recording function to capture the content, planning to organize it later after the meeting.

After the video call with the overseas manager ended, Lillian let out a long sigh of relief—finally back to her native language. She took a moment to think, 'This meeting is really a good exercise for me, helping me identify my weaknesses in practice. This gives me great encouragement and a strong desire to improve my skills.'

She couldn't help but look at Alexander and silently said, 'Thank you, Mr. Sinclair.'

When Shae felt bored in the office, she stepped out. Passing by the main secretarial office, Shae noticed it was empty and curiously thought, 'Isn't it work time already? Why is no one here? Do they all go to the meeting with Alexander?'

She entered the elevator and pressed the button for the eighth floor, remembering that the HR department was on that floor. Since Alexander wouldn't let her be his secretary, she decided to recommend herself to HR.

When Shae stepped out of the elevator, she saw a few people sitting outside the recruitment room, holding forms. Curious about the position being hired for, she sat down and asked.

"Really? Are they hiring a secretary for the executive office?" Shae was delighted upon hearing this. 'How lucky! Alexander, wait for me!' Shae smiled mysteriously.

Lillian followed Alexander back to the office.

"Organize the meeting notes and send them to me later," Alexander said, noticing Shae was not there but not bothering to look for her.

Lillian scratched her head and said hesitantly, "Mr. Sinclair, can I send them to you tomorrow? They speak a foreign language so fluently that I don't understand some sentences. Although I didn't take complete notes, I recorded everything. I'll listen to it and organize it before sending it to you."

"How do you feel after this meeting?" he asked.

"I feel like I'm really inadequate and need to work hard to improve my skills," Lillian said earnestly, "Anyway, I need to thank you and Kaitlyn very much."
