Chapter 340 Stick to the Plan

In the evening, at Lillian's house, Wendy, rubbing her full belly, said to Kelly, "Kelly, I'm stuffed again. Your cooking is so delicious that I could just move in and never leave."

Kelly laughed and said, "Then come over often. I'll cook for you."

Angela rolled her eyes at her. "All you ever think about is food."

Lillian smiled and said, "Let's go chat somewhere else."

Tonight, Alexander had a social event and didn't come back. Leah, as his secretary, accompanied him. With them not around, they were more relaxed and grabbed some snacks, going to Lillian's room.

It seemed like this was Wendy's first time in Lillian's room. As soon as she walked in, she exclaimed dramatically, "This room is enormous! It's almost as big as the total area of my house!"

"It's big, but not that exaggerated," Lillian laughed.

They sat on a round white carpet, with snacks placed on the round coffee table in front of them, eating and chatting.

"Wendy, tell us what happened next," Angela said.

Eating some fruit, Wendy sighed and said, "Of course, they made up! Amos figured out it was me causing trouble and deliberately messed with me in front of Ms. Phillips. He called me to the office, ordering me to do this and that. It's so annoying!"

Lillian scratched her head. "Evelyn forgave him? Didn't she see him being flirty? How could she forgive him?"

Angela sneered, "He coaxed her back with sweet talk. After all, the evidence she saw wasn't very convincing; she preferred to believe him. Unless she saw them making love with her own eyes, she wouldn't easily believe it."

Wendy slowly nodded. "Angela is right. It wasn't very convincing and she was easily coaxed back by a few of his smooth words. So, what should we do next?"

"Amos didn't threaten you again today, did he?" Angela asked.

Wendy said, "No, besides ordering me to do some things on purpose, he didn't do anything else. But his look was quite scary."

"Then let's stay put for now. Amos must hold a grudge against you and might suddenly retaliate one day. Be careful. I'll also have a detective keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't hurt you!" Angela said.

"Okay, I'll be careful." Wendy nodded.

Lillian suddenly asked, "I wonder if Caspian knows about Amos's behavior. If he knew Amos was a jerk, he'd be furious!"

Wendy said, "I don't think he knows. He's trying hard to forget Ms. Phillips now."

"Evelyn is quite something, rejecting Caspian and ending up with a boyfriend who isn't even as good as him. How could Mr. Wade be content with that?" Angela said to Wendy, "Just wait and see; those three, along with you, surely won't keep things peaceful. You'd better brace yourself."

"Really?" Wendy said, "But I don't want to get involved. What does it have to do with me?"

"You like Caspian, so it has to do with you." Angela patted her shoulder comfortingly.

Wendy was startled by the pat, and her funny reaction made Lillian laugh.

Half past midnight, Amos, dragging his tired body, unlocked the door and walked in with his head down.

"You still know to come back? I thought you eloped with Evelyn." Brenda Lawson, sitting on the couch, said sarcastically.

Amos threw himself on the couch and laughed, "Eloping would have been preferable; if she had taken all her assets, I wouldn't be so exhausted now."

"Did she make up with you?" Brenda asked, arms crossed.

Amos said with a hint of pride, "With a dinner, a bouquet, and some sweet talk, she forgave me!"

Brenda pursed her lips and said, "I'm telling you, she is suspicious now. You might be able to deceive her once or twice, but what will you do in the long run? Start taking action immediately to avoid any protracted complications."

"We can't rush. I need to think it through carefully." Amos's hesitation made Brenda angry.

She suddenly sat next to him, poking his arm, and asked unhappily, "Are you in love with her?"

"No!" Amos sat up, "We have to follow the plan, right? Today's incident was an accident; it won't happen again."

"It's rather coincidental, isn't it? What on earth brought her to that particular store? Traveling such a long distance just for a meal?" Brenda asked, puzzled.

Amos sneered, "No such coincidences. Someone must have led her there. That bitch, I'll teach her a lesson!"

"Don't bother with irrelevant people. Our target is Evelyn!" Brenda said calmly.

"I know." He said, dodging Brenda's poking finger.

In a blink, half a month passed, and November arrived, bringing winter and the upcoming celebration for Henry and William.

At breakfast, Alexander asked Leah, "Have you contacted Mom these days?"

"No, I've been so busy." Leah had been doing well under Kaitlyn's guidance for over half a month. With her good skills and fluency in three languages, Kaitlyn valued her highly.

As for Kevin, Leah saw him once on her first day at work but didn't even talk, and hadn't seen him since. She was busy with computer files and Alexander, forgetting her initial reason for joining the company.

Alexander said, "Three days ago, the bodyguard reported she was still traveling. No news these days. The celebration is coming; she should be back."

Lillian asked, "Did you call her? Maybe she's having too much fun and forgot the date."

"Yeah, just call her," Leah said.

"I can't get through. The bodyguard only reports to me on Facebook." Alexander thought for a moment and said, "I need to send someone to bring her back."

Just then, David hurried in and whispered something to Alexander with his hand covering his ear.

"David, what's so important? I want to hear too," Leah joked.

Lillian shook her head at her and looked at Alexander, whose face grew more serious, anger rising.

David finished and left.

Alexander put down his utensils and said to Leah, "Go to work by yourself today. I have other matters." He then looked at Lillian and said, "Honey, come upstairs and help me pack!"
