Chapter 248 The Parrot Flew Out Again

Although a series of unhappy events had occurred, they did not affect Justin's birthday party the next day. In the morning, the younger generation came to offer their congratulations and gifts, making Justin beam with joy.

In the morning, Sinclair Villa was bustling with visitors. A long buffet table was set up in the backyard for guests to enjoy.

It was great today, with a clear blue sky and bright sunshine. A symphony orchestra played on the lawn, lifting everyone's spirits.

Leah came over to Lillian and said, "Alexander asked me to accompany you for a walk."

Hearing the commotion outside, Lillian said, "Sure, I was just thinking of going out."

She recalled Leah helping her yesterday and thanked her, "Leah, thank you for yesterday."

"No problem, I was just protecting my nephew," Leah said arrogantly.

Lillian smiled and said nothing.

Alexander was busy entertaining guests today and had asked Leah to accompany Lillian. Leah was very dutiful, meeting several friends but only chatting briefly before staying by Lillian's side.

"Leah, you should go find your friends. I'm fine," Lillian said, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Leah replied, "It's better not. If I don't take good care of you, Alexander will scold me. I have something to ask him for, so I don't want to make him angry."

"Alright then," Lillian knew Leah had her motives and didn't mind.

The sun was scorching, and the cousins gathered under the parasol to chat. Lillian noticed Leah's excitement and considerately joined her.

"Lillian, are you okay after yesterday? It was really dangerous," a cousin asked.

"But Nico had it worse. She lost her child, and Beatrice must be furious," Ruth Sinclair said.

The Sinclair family was generally friendly, at least on the surface, which made Leah seem less favorable in comparison.

"I'm fine. Nothing happened," Lillian said regretfully. "I'm also sorry about Nico."

"Lillian, it's not your fault. Don't overthink it," Ruth comforted her.

Leah said, "Can we not talk about this? It's Grandpa's birthday today, and this topic is a bit of a downer."

They dropped the subject and started talking about makeup, fashion, and various bags. Lillian listened and suddenly found these topics quite interesting.

Suddenly, she saw a familiar figure in the crowd—it was Emily. And standing next to her was Michael. She didn't expect them to come.

Emily unintentionally turned to meet Lillian's gaze, then smiled with surprise and waved vigorously. She said something to Michael and ran over to Lillian.

Lillian thought, 'Please don't come over. I have nothing to say to you.' But Emily was already in front of her.

"Lillian," she said with a smile. "I was just telling Michael I might see you here."

Lillian slowly stood up and led her to the side.

"Lillian, didn't Oscar come?" Emily glanced over and asked.

Lillian replied, "No, he's at home."

Michael walked over, smiling and greeting, "Mrs. Sinclair."

"Michael, you're teasing me," Lillian said with a smile.

The three of them chatted for a while, and then Emily saw a friend and left.

Michael glanced at her belly and asked, "How many months pregnant are you? You must be due soon."

"Is my belly that big?" Lillian asked. "It's five months, along with twins."

Michael said, "Really? That's wonderful."

Lillian said, "Michael, when Oscar was hospitalized after the assassination attempt, I really appreciated Emily's care and your support. I want to invite you both to dinner during the holidays to express my gratitude."

Although Lillian didn't like Emily, she couldn't ignore Emily's care for Oscar.

Michael said, "Ms. Hill, you're too kind. Mr. Sinclair already sent a gift, which was more than enough."

"Really? He didn't tell me." She smiled. "But a gift is one thing, and a dinner invitation is another."

Seeing her insistence, Michael didn't refuse further and nodded. "Alright, Ms. Hill, you pick the date. Emily and I are free these days."

Alexander suddenly appeared and walked over. "Michael, you're here. What are you guys talking about?"

"Honey, I wanted to invite Michael and Emily to dinner to thank them for taking care of Oscar. What do you think?" Lillian asked.

"No problem," Alexander said to Michael. "You can't refuse."

"Of course," Michael agreed, then left to avoid being a third wheel.

Lillian looked at Alexander and asked playfully, "I was looking for you in the crowd and couldn't find you. How come you appeared as soon as I started talking to Michael? Were you hiding and watching me?"

Alexander admitted openly, "Yes, I've been keeping an eye on you. Also, I already sent a gift to the Roberts family and forgot to tell you."

His words implied that the dinner invitation wasn't necessary. Lillian keenly sensed a hint of jealously.

She chuckled. "Mr. Sinclair, please don't overthink. I'm a pregnant woman now; Michael definitely wouldn't be interested in me."

Alexander frowned and said, "I just can't stand seeing you with him."

Lillian explained, "During Oscar's hospital stays, I found Michael to be a decent person. He didn't stop Emily from taking care of Oscar, which I think is great."

"I'm not being generous enough," Alexander said helplessly, tapping her nose. "If you want to invite them to dinner, then go ahead."

"You always tell me not to overthink, but aren't you overthinking either?"

"I care about you," Alexander said, rare in his vulnerability. "I'm afraid you'll be with someone else and leave me."

"Who would I be with? I'm carrying your two children; who would accept me?" Lillian teased. "Besides, why would I be with someone else? Did you do something to betray me?"

"Idiot!" Alexander said, exasperated. "I'm just insecure!"

As they were flirting, a parrot suddenly flew overhead and babbled

"Honey, look. Isn't that Blake's parrot? What's it saying?" Lillian pointed up, surprised.

Alexander looked up and listened carefully, frowning deeply. "It seems to be saying something like, 'Old bastard's birthday?'"

"What? Isn't it talking about Grandpa?" Lillian covered her mouth in shock.
