Chapter 188 Oscar Had a Heart Attack

"Mom, chill out. It's not as bad as you're making it. Dad's not that cold-hearted; he digs you. Plus, I had a son. We can still have more kids. No way Lillian's got us beat," Rena said, all fired up.

Beatrice sneered. "Ethan might not be, but no matter how many kids you pop out, Justin still won't give us the time of day." She sighed, shooting daggers at the real family in the hospital room. "Potential risks must be eliminated!"

Rena's eyes went wide. "Mom, what are you talking about?"

Beatrice gave her a fierce look. "Why are you acting all surprised? What do you think I mean?"

Rena thought for a sec, then shook her head.

Beatrice rolled her eyes and looked at Blake, who was glued to his game, feeling frustrated. She chucked a pillow at him.

Blake jumped, ready to snap, but seeing Beatrice's stern face, he backed off. Ever since Beatrice got chewed out by Justin at Sinclair Villa, she'd been taking it out on him and Rena at home. When she got really mad, she'd start cursing, and he'd just sit there, trying to keep the peace.

Rena looked at Blake with pity and tried to calm things down. "Mom, don't take it out on Blake. He's been busting his butt lately. Those vultures at the company have been giving him a hard time, but he managed to win some people back. It's not easy for him."

Beatrice snapped, "I just can't stand it. You and Alexander have the same father. But why is there such a big difference between you? How am I worse than Samantha? He blew such a good shot in Aetherland, and you expect him to beat Alexander? He's wasted all my years of hard work on him!"

Her voice was low, so the people inside couldn't hear, but Blake caught every word. He locked his phone and put it aside, smiling. "Mom, I'm your son. Don't trash your own kid, okay?"

Beatrice shot back, "Then do something to make me proud, alright? Stop just talking big in front of me!"

Blake, looking annoyed, said, "It's not that hard. I know what you're stressing about every day, and I'll show you I'm not worse than Alexander!"

His words seemed to catch Alexander's attention inside, and he slightly turned to look outside. Beatrice and Rena quickly plastered on smiles, trying hard to act like they weren't badmouthing him.

In the hospital room, Lillian sat on the edge of the bed, her hand held by Linda, who asked, "Is the baby in your belly okay?"

She nodded. "Yeah, it's fine. I've been taking supplements these past couple of days to help it grow bigger."

Linda smiled weakly with her eyes closed. "I can't die yet. I have to wait for the baby to be born. I've even picked out a nickname."

"Grandma, you're gonna be fine. You'll live to be a hundred!" Lillian said with a smile.

At that moment, a nurse walked in and said, "There are too many people here. Just leave two to take care of her; the rest should leave."

Beatrice got up and walked in, saying to Samantha, "You must be tired. Let me stay here."

Before Samantha could speak, Ethan said, "Beatrice, you should go home. Samantha and I will stay here. Tomorrow morning, Blake and Alexander will take over. You all should leave."

Seeing that Ethan had made up his mind, Beatrice knew he had his reasons and didn't push it. The group then left the hospital.

Following Alexander out, he suddenly asked, "Kelly, did you and Lily take a cab here?"

Lillian's heart skipped a beat, and she didn't dare to speak.

Kelly answered honestly, "We planned to, but after waiting a bit, we saw Michael at the community gate, and he offered us a ride."

"Michael?" Alexander frowned at Lillian. "Did you see him again?"

Lillian smiled awkwardly. "He was just going out, and we happened to run into him. Who knew?"

Alexander didn't respond, and the three of them got into the car. Kevin drove them home.

When they got home, Oscar was already there. Melvin said he was upstairs helping Luke with his piano practice.

Alexander smiled. "Good timing."

Lillian followed him to their room, asking uneasily, "Are you mad at me? I really didn't mean to interact with Michael."

Alexander took off his coat. "No, he was kind enough to give you a ride. Why would I be mad?"

Lillian stood in front of him, looking up. "Are you really not mad? You barely spoke when you came back, and you looked so serious. It was scary."

Alexander was slightly taken aback, then smiled warmly. "Did I scare you? I'll be more careful in the future."

He hugged her gently. "I'm not mad. Just thinking about some things. I'll be more mindful to avoid making you feel that way."

Lillian clung tightly to him, wrapping her arms around his waist, resting her chin on his shoulder, enjoying the moment.

"Maybe I'm just being sensitive. Don't mind me," Lillian said.

Alexander chuckled softly. "I love that you care about me. Keep it up."

Hearing this, Lillian smiled and tried to pull away to look at him, but he held her tightly. "Let me hold you a little longer."

Seeing that he wouldn't let go, Lillian felt a surge of joy in her heart.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and Luke shouted, "Uncle Alexander, I finished my homework. Can I go out and play with Oscar?"

Upon seeing Oscar and Luke at the door, Lillian pushed Alexander away a bit too forcefully in her excitement, causing him to take a couple of steps back.

"Alexander, sorry, you guys continue. Luke and I are going out to play," Oscar said with a smile, closing the door for them.

Lillian and Alexander looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh.

After lunch, Alexander went back to the office, and Lillian planned to take a nap. Oscar and Luke hadn't returned yet. She had just lain down and was about to send Oscar a message on Facebook to call them back when her phone rang.

"Lillian, come quickly! Oscar is dying!" Luke cried on the phone.

Lillian sat up abruptly, shocked. "What did you say? Where are you?"

"We're at Swan Lake," Luke said, crying and scared. "Lillian, hurry up! Oscar can't breathe!"

Lillian froze for a moment, realizing that Oscar must be having a heart attack! She ended the call in a panic, her mind blank, and immediately called for Kelly. Without even putting on her shoes, she ran out in a hurry.

By Swan Lake, Oscar was lying on the ground, his face pale, struggling to breathe. The security guard had already called for an ambulance. Luke was crying beside him, not knowing what to do. Emily stood nearby, trembling and pale with fear.
