Chapter 190 Lillian and Oscar Are Both Hospitalized
Michael called Emily over, looking all serious. "Did you catch what Mrs. Sinclair said? It ain't rocket science, right? Now, go apologize to her."
Emily, feeling all guilty, didn't dare to disobey. She turned to Lillian and said, "Mrs. Sinclair, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have argued with Oscar or pushed him. My bad. Please forgive me."
Lillian replied, "I didn't expect the past beef would lead to this. From now on, just act like you don't know him."
Emily, still defiant, shot back, "I hope Oscar does the same."
"Emily, enough," Michael said coldly.
Lillian just gave her a silent stare, not wanting to get into it.
Alexander chimed in, "We don't know when the surgery will end. Michael, take Emily home."
Michael nodded. Hanging around wouldn't help and only made things worse.
"Alright, once Oscar's okay, we'll come back," Michael said, dragging Emily away.
In the car, Emily, feeling wronged, said, "I did push him, but did he really collapse because of that? Maybe he already had symptoms. Do you think that's possible?"
"No matter what, you pushed him. You can't dodge that. Just take it as a lesson to stop being so reckless," Michael said.
Emily frowned. "Even you say that."
"What do you want me to say? That you were right to argue and push him? Don't you know your own personality?" Michael shot back.
Emily lowered her head, thinking about the beef with Oscar. She knew she shouldn't have provoked him. But who would've thought a simple push would make him collapse? If she had known about his heart condition, she wouldn't have done it. Now, she felt genuinely regretful. Seeing him in pain was terrifying and made her feel awful.
"Emily," Michael said earnestly. "You're grown up now. You can't keep being so reckless. Learn to be generous and forgiving. Being petty isn't good for you."
Though unhappy about being called out, Emily admitted her flaws. She glanced at Michael and said, "Maybe you're right."
Michael smiled helplessly. "You sure changed your tune quickly. Today, you almost caused someone to lose his life. If he had died because of your push, would you regret it? Wouldn't you think you were too impulsive? I won't say more. Think about it."
Emily stayed silent, head down. Today's incident had a big impact on her, making her realize her mistakes.
The light in the operating room went out, and Lillian stood up abruptly, rushing over.
The doctor came out, removed his mask, and said, "The patient is out of danger."
Lillian let out a long sigh of relief. "Really?"
The doctor replied, "Yes, he was brought in just in time."
Overjoyed, Lillian tightly grasped Alexander's hand, then suddenly fainted.
"Lily!" Alexander caught her, holding her tight and calling her name.
The doc reassured, "It's cool. She just fainted from all the excitement. She'll wake up soon. Let's get her to the ward."
Alexander scooped her up and carried her back to the ward.
Lillian seemed to be dreaming about her childhood with Oscar. She suddenly shouted and opened her eyes, "Oscar!"
"Hey, you awake?" Alexander asked, his face close. "You feeling okay?"
Lillian relaxed. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Alexander reminded her, "You're pregnant. You can't stress too much. Oscar's fine and back in the ward. Pull yourself together and go see him. He's still out, and Kelly's watching over him."
"As long as he's okay, I'm relieved," Lillian said, exhaling. "How long was I out? I'm kinda hungry."
"It's past seven. You must be starving," Alexander said, grabbing a paper bag. "I had the chef at Sinclair Villa whip up something for you. Get up and eat."
Lillian felt touched by his thoughtfulness.
She hit the bathroom first, then got back on the bed, watching Alexander open the insulated containers.
"There's my favorite Baked Apple Pie," she said happily. "Thanks. These are all my faves."
Alexander smiled. "Just dig in. No need to thank me. I was really worried when you fainted. Luckily, the baby didn't act up."
Lillian ate with one hand and touched her belly with the other, smiling. "It's all good."
Suddenly, her expression froze, and she stopped moving.
Alexander looked at her curiously. "What's up?"
Lillian felt a warm flow below and had a bad feeling. "Quick, I need to go to the bathroom."
As expected, she was bleeding.
Alexander's face turned serious. "Finish your meal first. I'll call the doc. If things don't look good, you might need to stay in the hospital."
Worried about the baby, Lillian lost her appetite and looked distressed.
"You have to eat. The baby needs you to be strong. This isn't your fault. The emotional stress probably affected the baby. If necessary, we can ask Angela for some meds to protect the pregnancy. It's not a big deal," Alexander comforted her.
Lillian looked at him sympathetically. "You must be scared too, right? Yet you still comfort me. Thanks."
That 'thanks' made Alexander laugh, easing the tension. "I'm not that scared. If we lose this baby, we can always have another. Lillian, don't worry so much. Let's wait for the check-up results."
Lillian nodded obediently and picked up her fork again.
The check-up later showed the baby was fine. They both felt relieved. The doc's advice was to stay in the hospital to protect the pregnancy, which they gladly accepted.Later, Lilian went to Oscar's ward. He had just woken up and, upon seeing her, quickly said, "Lillian, I'm sorry for making you worry."
