Chapter 162 Lola and Shae Argue

Lola's eyes widened. "Who are you talking about?"

"Whoever talks to me, that's who I'm talking about," Shae snapped, standing up and grabbing the documents. She stormed off to the printing room.

Lola rolled her eyes, turned to Olivia, another intern, and said with a smile, "Hey, I'm Lola. Nice to be working with you."

Olivia adjusted her glasses. "Hey, I'm Olivia. I'm new here too. Are you and Lillian sisters?"

"Yeah, she's my cousin, and Mr. Sinclair is my brother-in-law," Lola replied without hesitation.

Olivia nodded and went back to her work.

Lola, new to the place, looked around and saw everyone busy with their tasks. Just as she was feeling lost, Cheryl Perez came over, handed her a few folders, and said, "Go print these. The printing room is over there." She pointed in the direction.

Lola took the folders and headed to the printing room, where Shae was on the phone. Shae looked up, startled to see her.

Lola had never used a printer before. Her previous internships were all about making coffee and cleaning. She stared at the buttons, trying to figure it out.

"Bumpkin, don't you know how to use a printer?" Shae hung up the phone and walked over. "I'll show you. Pay attention."

"I don't need your help!" Lola snapped. "And who are you calling a bumpkin?"

Shae's eyes narrowed. "You mad? Wanna fight?"

"Bring it on!" Lola shot back. "Just don't cry when you get fired."

"Are you Lillian's older or younger sister?" Shae sneered. "Think Alexander will help you? You're wrong."

Lola hated her attitude but didn't want to cause trouble on her first day. "You're the senior. Go ahead. I'll come back later."

"Don't leave. Didn't you want me fired? Chickening out?" Shae grabbed her arm, not letting her go.

"Are you crazy? You want to fight here? I'm not that dumb!" Lola tried to pull away, but Shae held on tight.

Just then, Alexander stepped out of the elevator and heard the commotion. He walked over and saw Shae and Lola arguing.

"What's all this noise?" he shouted.

"Alexander!" both Shae and Lola called out at the same time.

Alexander frowned. "Come to my office."

Kaitlyn, watching from a distance, sighed in relief. 'What luck! Both the ex and current girlfriend's sisters ended up as secretaries,' she thought.

In the office, Alexander was furious. "I heard you two arguing as soon as I got out of the elevator. What's going on?"

Shae, irritated, spoke first. "Alexander, I was just trying to help Lola with the printer, but she called me a bumpkin and pushed me. Look at my hand, it's red."

Lola shook her head, shocked. "Alexander, that's not true! I didn't push her. She called me a bumpkin and looked down on me. You have to believe me!"

Alexander's eyes were cold as he looked at them. "Is this really what all the fuss is about?"

"Alexander, she's bullying me. I don't know what I did to offend her. I just wanted to get along since she's Ms. Hill's sister," Shae said, looking all innocent.

Lola shook her head, repeating, "No, that's not true." She couldn't lie, even if she wanted to. She just kept explaining herself, envying Shae's ability to lie so easily.

"Enough, both of you," Alexander snapped. "Just do your work properly. I don't want to see this kind of nonsense again. Now, get out."

They left the office, heads down.

Outside, Lola asked, "Why do you call him Alexander too? Who's your sister?"

"My sister is Alexander's first love! Can your sister compare?" Shae shot back.

"So what? In the end, it's the marriage certificate that matters," Lola retorted.

Kaitlyn, overhearing, yelled, "You're still arguing? Get back to work!"

Later that morning, Adam strolled in. Lola was in the printing room and missed his entrance.

"Is this Mr. Hill?" Kaitlyn asked.

"Yeah, Alexander asked me to come," Adam said, looking around nervously.

"Follow me." Kaitlyn led him to the main office and closed the door gently.

Adam sat down with a fawning smile. "Alexander, I'm here to work. What job do you have for me?"

Alexander put down his pen, leaned back, and crossed his arms. "What do you want to do?"

"I want to be a leader. Do you have any manager or director positions available? I can do those," Adam said, grinning.

"How about being the president?" Alexander mocked. "Do you want to consider my position?"

"That's a bit too much of a joke. I can't handle that," Adam said, waving his hand with a humble smile.

"Weren't you joking first? So I joked back," Alexander said coldly.

Adam chuckled. "I know you're doing this for Lillian's sake, not wanting to refuse Lisa's request. I know my limits. I can't handle office work. I'll leave."

"Hold on. Did I say you could leave?" Alexander said, annoyed. "What do you think this place is?"

Adam quickly apologized. "I'm sorry. What else do you need?"

Alexander leaned forward. "I know about the gambling dens you frequent and the owners there. If you work here, you have to quit gambling. If not, leave now."

Adam slapped his thigh, looking troubled. "If you asked me to quit something else, I could do it. But quitting gambling, I really can't." He stood up. "I appreciate your kindness, but let's just live our own lives and not interfere with each other." He turned to leave.

"Margaret Turner had a car accident two years ago. Her grandson died instantly. It was a stormy night on a mountain road with no surveillance. How would Margaret react if the hit-and-run driver was caught?" Alexander threatened.

Adam, with his back to Alexander, was already trembling in fear.
