Chapter 237 Lillian Treats Everyone to Coffee
It was the first time the two of them went shopping together, and Lillian seemed very excited.
Lillian said, "Honey, summer is almost here. We need to buy you some new clothes for the season."
Alexander was driving, looking straight ahead. Hearing this, he turned to look at her indulgently, smiling. "I have designated brand stores that keep clothes for me every season. There's no need to buy them."
"That sounds so high-end," she teased with a smile.
Alexander said, "Honey, today I'm shopping with you. Buy whatever you want!"
Lillian looked down at her bulging bump and pouted. "What can I buy? I need just a few more maternity dresses."
"Then let's buy something for our son, too—clothes, shoes, anything you like," Alexander said. "Honey, not only can you buy dresses, but you can also buy bags, makeup, anything you like. Don't you love painting? I'll get you a set of professional tools!"
Lillian laughed and asked, "Honey, what are you up to? You're scaring me."
"Nothing, I just want to take care of you, provide you with the best of everything, and ensure you never have to live cautiously or feel inferior. I want you to be a happy princess by my side," Alexander said sincerely.
She felt a warmth in her heart and her eyes started to well up. She lightly hit Alexander. "You're so annoying, always saying things that make me emotional."
Alexander said, "I can't help it; it's heartfelt and genuine."
Lillian took advantage of the red light to lean over and kiss him on the cheek. "Honey, thank you. I'm really happy now. You accept and good at me and my family. Living without worries brings me the greatest sense of ease. You're really amazing!"
Alexander, proud of her praise, smiled but still humbly said, "Honey, you're amazing, too."
"Alright, it is enough with the mutual compliments. Drive faster; I want some coffee." Lillian pointed ahead.
At a coffee shop on the first floor of the mall, Lillian bought a latte. While waiting for the coffee, she casually looked around and saw David and others hidden in a corner. She thought for a moment and bought each of them a cup as well.
"Are you sure they'll like it?" Alexander took the four cups of coffee from the server and signaled to them. The four quickly came over.
"Lillian bought these for you," Alexander said with a smile.
The four looked at the coffee, exchanged glances, and took the coffee one by one, saying in unison, "Thank you, Mrs. Sinclair!"
Lillian smiled and said, "You're welcome."
Alexander held her hand and took the escalator upstairs. In the maternity and baby store, Lillian picked out a few maternity dresses and shoes for herself and bought a few things for the babies, but only a little.
"Is this enough?" Alexander asked. "Should we buy more?"
Lillian held his arm and whispered, "Kelly told me not to prepare too many things for the baby too early."
He said, "Then let's just get these for now."
The two walked to the checkout counter to pay.
After leaving the maternity and baby store, they browsed each floor. Lillian bought Melvin a back support device, Kelly an electric massage hammer, and Gina a set of cosmetics.
Lillian said, "With all the recent troubles at home, they've been worried and tired. Buying them something helps alleviate my guilt."
Alexander said, "It has been great these past two weeks. How about we pick a day at the end of the month, invite everyone, and go to the Sinclair family's estate for a couple of days?"
"Sure! Before Wendy and Angela go on their road trip, let's invite them too. Let Melvin, Kelly, and Gina have a good time for two days without doing anything." Lillian got excited at the mention of fun. "Can we fish at the estate? I want to have a barbecue. Let's bring Lucas's kite; he'll definitely want to play with it."
"The estate has it all. You can even go boating," Alexander replied. "I guarantee you'll love it. You could consider staying there for your pregnancy. The only drawback is that it's too far from downtown, making the drive quite lengthy."
"Then don't do it. I can't bear the thought of you commuting every day. Home is good; I want to be with you every day." Lillian tightly held his arm, leaned against him, and looked up at him coquettishly.
Alexander raised his hand and affectionately pinched her cheek, smiling without saying.
"Alexander!" A voice called from behind. It was Leah. Lillian and Alexander turned to look.
Leah jogged over, smiling. "Are you shopping either?"
"Yeah, buying some things with Lillian," Alexander said. "Why didn't you greet to Lillian?"
"Lillian," Leah called out gloomily.
Lillian wasn't petty and responded politely.
"Since I ran into you, I want to buy a bag, but I'm short on money. Can you buy it for me?" Leah pleaded, shaking Alexander's arm.
Alexander asked, "What about the card Dad gave you?"
"Dad took it back because I spent too much. Now, I only have a few thousand dollars a month for allowance," Leah said pitifully.
When Lillian heard this, she pursed her lips, thinking, 'Your monthly allowance is almost as much as my aunt Lisa's annual income.'
Alexander, annoyed, tapped her forehead with his finger. "You deserve it."
He scolded her but still felt sorry for Leah and asked, "Are you shopping with friends? Where's the bag you want? Show me."
Leah replied, "You don't need to come. Just transfer the money to me. I don't want to interrupt your shopping with Lillian."
"Leah, what do you mean?" Alexander asked, puzzled. "Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No," she instinctively glanced at Lillian and said. "I'm here with Shae. She's waiting for me in the store."
Alexander looked at her in confusion and asked, "When did you start contacting her?"
Leah replied, "I met her at a party before. I didn't familiar anyone there, so I got to know her. We've been in touch since then."
Lillian thought, 'Shae has quietly gotten close to Alexander's family. She's really got some skills.'
Leah was so simple-minded that she didn't know about Shae and Alexander's story. She just considered her as Amy's cousin and a friend she could hang out with.
Alexander took out a card from his wallet and handed it to her, saying, "Buy the bag and go home. Don't wander around. Text me on Facebook when you get home."
"Thanks," Leah said, happily kissing the card and nodding repeatedly. "I will."
Looking through the store window, Shae saw Alexander and Lillian and smiled contemptuously.
