Chapter 410Aaron Gets Exposed Again
Whispering Hospital, in the VIP ward, Joseph slowly regained consciousness.
"Dad." Evelyn leaned on the edge of the bed, tears in her eyes. "Dad, you're awake! How do you feel?"
Joseph weakly shook his head and said hoarsely, "I'm fine."
Evelyn gave Joseph some water and said softly, "Dad, the doctor said you fainted because of a sudden rush of anger. Your heart has a minor issue, so you need to stay in the hospital for a few days. Mom is on her way to the hospital. I'll take care of the company's matters, don't worry."
Joseph looked at Evelyn with a complex expression, filled with blame, heartache, and self-reproach.
"Dad, this is all my fault. I invited trouble. Amos took the company's money, and I'll get every penny back. I'll make sure he spends the rest of his life in prison!" Evelyn's mind was clear now, understanding all of Amos's schemes.
"Evelyn, can you handle it yourself?" Joseph pondered and said to her, "Amos is not easy to deal with. Call Caspian to help you."
Evelyn felt ashamed and said softly, "Caspian already went to the construction site to help me. After the worker's accident, he went to the hospital."
Joseph seemed relieved and sighed, closing his eyes with regret. "You still have poor judgment in people."
As he finished speaking, the door to the ward gently opened, and Caspian came in.
"Mr. Phillips, you're awake! I'll go get the doctor." He turned and left the ward.
Joseph said, "This matter isn't entirely your fault. Amos's acting was too good, and I was careless. Now that Caspian is helping you, I'm not too worried."
Evelyn nodded silently, with a worried expression.
Alexander and Lillian finished their wedding photoshoot, and it was already evening.
After dinner, Lillian called Evelyn to comfort her. Evelyn wasn't in the mood to talk much, so she agreed with Lillian and hung up the phone.
"That bastard! Evelyn was so good to Amos, how could he deceive her!" Lillian cursed angrily.
Alexander brought her a cup of tea and said, "Calm down. You know he's a scammer, right? The better you treat him, the more smug he gets, and the less guarded you are."
"Evelyn didn't say much, but I could tell she was hurt." Lillian took a sip of tea and asked, "How's it going now?"
"The injured worker didn't make it. Now, the Phillips Group is trending on all major social media, and the stock is falling. The situation doesn't look good."
"Any news from Kevin?"
"Not yet." Alexander shook his head. "Caspian has already called the police, and with Kevin and the others, they're searching. They'll find him."
Lillian looked down at her phone, opened Instagram, and said, "Honey, call Kevin and tell them to find him quickly!"
"You think it's as easy as finding something at home? You will find whatever you're looking for." Alexander laughed.
Suddenly, Lillian screamed, startling Alexander.
"What now?" he asked, surprised.
Lillian hurriedly said, "Honey, look at Instagram's trending topics, that Aaron!"
"What about Aaron?"
"What is this video?" Lillian exclaimed in disgust.
No wonder Lillian was unsettled. In the few seconds of the secretly filmed video, Aaron was seen hugging and kissing another man, intimately!
"Oh my God! Aaron is gay?!" Lillian shouted angrily. "And he's dating Wendy? Isn't that emotional deception?"
She looked at Instagram's trending topics in shock. Number one was the Phillips Group's poor construction; number two was Aaron being gay!
Friends' issues were lining up on the trending list.
In the friends' group chat, Angela had already exploded and chewed Aaron out. After she finished, Lillian continued. Both were furious.
Wendy said, [You two calm down. The media reporting this is also a way to save me. Anyway, I wasn't scammed out of money or anything, so it's okay.]
[Wendy, this is scary. He was planning to scam you into marriage!] Lillian asked worriedly, [Tell us the truth, were you not deceived?]
[No, I didn't have sex with him.] Wendy said, [I've been good.]
Angela sent a voice message, her tone unfriendly, [This Aaron is too much! He's a friend of Tom and Alexander, and he still dared to deceive us? Does he think we're easy to bully? I can't let him get away with this!]
[Angela, what are you going to do? Let it go, I didn't lose anything.]
[How did you not lose anything? The emotions you invested aren't a loss? Should he just get away with it? No, I can't stand this!] Angela said, [Don't worry about it, he needs to be taught a lesson!]
[Yeah, exactly!] Lillian agreed. [Alexander has a film company, and he knows people in the industry. I'll have him deal with Aaron!]
Wendy held her head, listening to the voice messages one by one, feeling like she was dreaming.
'So, I was just a substitute? His strong persuasion to meet my parents was to scam her into marriage.' Growing up in a loving family, Wendy couldn't believe how despicable people could be. 'Didn't they have any respect for a relationship?'
Her heart ached. From idol to lover, she had genuinely treated him with sincerity, without deception, and had tried to invest herself in the relationship. But now, with this news, she was really angry. From a fan's perspective, she felt blind for idolizing someone with such a poor character. From a lover's perspective, she felt even blinder for not noticing any signs while dating him!
She stared at her phone. Lillian and Angela, seeing no response from her, stopped sending messages. Aaron was also not sending her any messages. The news was already trending on Instagram; she couldn't believe he didn't know. Maybe he didn't even care to explain.
She sighed deeply. 'How did my first love end up so embarrassing? It was both heartbreaking and infuriating.'
At the hospital, Evelyn's mother, Elodie Edwards, arrived.
After a busy day without eating, Caspian took Evelyn to the hospital cafeteria for a simple meal.
"Caspian, I'm so grateful you were here today. If it weren't for you, I really wouldn't know what to do with such a big issue." Evelyn, usually strong in front of Caspian, showed a rare moment of vulnerability.
Caspian said, "I had someone watching him from the start. But since the engineering inspection showed no issues, I let my guard down, thinking he would target you instead. But he still managed to slip through."
"Did you suspect him all along?" Evelyn asked in surprise, then her eyes shifted as she realized, "Of course, if you had told me then, I wouldn't have believed you and would have blamed you for meddling and making things awkward."
She lowered her head and said softly, "I deserve this!"
