Chapter 209 Lillian is Pregnant with Twins
Caspian squinted up at her in the sunlight and said, "You go ahead. I'll chill here for a bit."
Evelyn looked around and asked, "Where's your driver? You've been drinking. Don't drive yourself home."
"Now that the engagement's off, you suddenly care?" Caspian sneered. "Don't worry. Thanks."
Finding him unreasonable, Evelyn didn't argue and left. In her car, she hesitated with her phone, thinking about calling his driver but decided against it and drove off.
Caspian watched her leave, feeling less troubled. He stood up, straightened his back, and got ready to go. The driver approached and asked, "Mr. Wade, are we leaving now?"
"You go back first. I'll take a walk." Caspian got in the car, told the driver, and drove off.
He wandered aimlessly through Rihegde, from the south to the east, finally stopping at a small park.
He paused, looking at the flower beds and benches, feeling a wave of nostalgia. Memories of his youth surfaced—picking a red rose, holding it in his mouth, and presenting it to Evelyn as he confessed his love.
Over a decade had passed, yet the park remained unchanged.
He got out, walked to a bench, and sat down. Leaning back with his arms spread across the backrest, he crossed his legs. Even with a melancholic look, he still seemed nonchalant.
Time passed slowly as Caspian enjoyed his solitude, watching people pass by—elderly folks, children, young couples. He smiled like a spectator.
Wendy was walking her dog when she saw Caspian on the bench. Startled, she quickly turned to leave.
"Come back!" Caspian called out sternly.
Wendy's shoulders shrank as she turned around, smiling. "Mr. Wade, what a coincidence. What are you doing here?"
Caspian glanced at her and said, "Come here."
Wendy, holding the dog, replied, "No, I need to walk my dog."
Caspian looked at the poodle and chuckled. "What's the big deal about walking that dog? Come here. I have something to tell you."
Wendy was taken aback. "What do you want to say? I refuse to be your girlfriend! I know you broke off your engagement with Ms. Phillips today."
"Aren't you happy to be my girlfriend? Am I not qualified?" Caspian asked sternly.
Wendy said, "I don't like you. Why would I be your girlfriend? It has nothing to do with qualifications."
Caspian looked at her serious expression and sneered. "You have quite the principles."
Wendy looked at him, lips tightly pressed, saying nothing.
Caspian said, "Relax. I was just teasing you before. Now that I'm no longer with Ms. Phillips, I won't be going to Moonlight Studio anymore. I won't tease you, so don't feel burdened."
The poodle wanted to run forward, but the leash in Wendy's hand held it back, so it could only move in place.
Wendy, pulled slightly by the dog, scoffed. "Teasing me? You were just using me. Hard to admit?"
"Fine, I was using you. Happy now?" Caspian's face showed less sorrow. "Take the dog home, and I'll treat you to a meal as an apology."
Wendy replied, "Mr. Wade, thanks, but no need. Let's just clear the air. You stay here, I need to walk my dog."
"Do you live nearby?" he asked.
"Yeah, in the building behind the park," Wendy said. "Alright, bye."
Caspian watched her leave, then sat in a daze before getting up to go.
Wendy walked her dog, thinking, 'How coincidental to run into him here? He looked very sad. Must be upset about breaking off the engagement with Ms. Phillips?'
She scratched her head and muttered, "Whether he's sad or not, what does it have to do with me? At least he won't bother me anymore, that's great!"
The next day, Lillian woke up eagerly and asked Alexander, "When are we leaving today?"
Seeing her excitement, Alexander said, "We'll leave after breakfast."
"Okay, you're the best," Lillian said, snuggling up to him.
Their relationship had become more intimate, filled with loving gestures.
At breakfast, Alexander told Linda they were going back, which made Linda a bit unhappy. But she realized they couldn't stay forever, so she agreed.
"Grandma, Lillian is leaving, and I'll stay with you," Rena said with a flattering smile.
Linda said, "You all should go back too. I've had enough of you."
Beatrice was unhappy but smiled and said, "Mom's the boss, so we'll go back if she says so. But we're gonna miss it here."
She then looked at Lillian and said, "Lillian, the tonic Mrs. Linda Sinclair gave you isn't finished yet. I'll pack it up for you to take home."
"Okay, thank you, Beatrice." Lillian didn't really like the tonic, always feeling it had a strange taste. She agreed but planned not to drink it once home.
In the morning, Alexander took Lillian and Luke home.
It was nice, and Oscar was sunbathing in the yard when he saw Alexander's car pull in. After parking, Luke got out and ran towards Oscar.
"No!" Lillian shouted from behind.
Fortunately, Kelly came out just then, quickly grabbing Luke's collar to stop him, saying, "Oscar is still recovering. He can't handle your pounce. Don't do that."
Luke nodded, looking at Oscar, and asked, "Oscar, can I pet you?"
Luke's innocent question made Oscar laugh, opening his arms and saying, "You can slowly come into my arms."
Hearing this, Luke smiled and, imitating slow-motion from TV, slowly moved into Oscar's arms. Luke's playful behavior made everyone laugh.
The next day, Monday morning, Alexander took Lillian to the hospital for a prenatal checkup.
In the ultrasound room, the doctor moved the instrument over Lillian's belly. After a while, he smiled and said, "Congratulations, it's twins, both boys."
