Chapter 167 Watch the Sunrise Together
It was past 4 a.m. when Alexander woke Lillian up. "Lily, get up."
Still half-asleep, Lillian mumbled, "What time is it?"
Alexander handed her clothes. "It's after 4. If we don't hurry, we'll miss the sunrise, and you'll be upset." He started unbuttoning her pajamas.
Lillian snapped awake, covering herself. "What are you doing? I can change myself!"
Alexander chuckled. "Why so shy? Haven't I seen it all before? You're being too sensitive."
Blushing, Lillian muttered, "It's different. We can't change in front of each other yet. Leave first, then I'll change."
Alexander laughed, touched his nose, and said, "Alright, I'll go out. Change."
Lillian quickly changed, washed up, and came downstairs with Alexander. They found Caspian and Evelyn already in the living room.
"Why are you so late?" Evelyn complained, linking arms with Lillian and whispering, "Were you flirting with Alexander and didn't want to get up? Take it easy—you're pregnant."
Lillian glanced at Alexander, pulled Evelyn aside, and said shyly, "Don't talk nonsense! Did Alexander tell you?"
"Yes," Evelyn pretended to be upset. "Seriously? You're pregnant and you didn't even tell me? What kind of friend are you?"
"I was a bit embarrassed to tell you," Lillian replied.
"Mrs. Sinclair must be thrilled, right?" Evelyn asked.
"Yes." Lillian nodded.
Lillian and Evelyn chatted as they walked ahead. Alexander and Caspian followed behind.
"How are things with Evelyn? Is she still planning to end the engagement?" Alexander asked.
Caspian sighed, "I tried, but she seems determined to break it off. She better not push me too far, or I won't be so accommodating!"
"A forced marriage won't make you happy. Sometimes you have to know when to let go," Alexander advised.
"You're happy now. What's up? Got your partner pregnant, huh? Are you two really together now?" Caspian teased. "You even cooked for Lillian. That's pretty special. Haven't you told her about this house?"
Alexander glanced at Lillian and Evelyn, who were laughing together, and smiled. "That's all in the past. I don't want to bring that up again. Things are good now, right?"
Caspian nodded. "It is good. Even though Lillian's family background doesn't match yours, she doesn't care about your money or benefits. She's submissive and listens to you. That's better than Evelyn by far!" He said, pouting towards Evelyn.
Alexander grinned. "Yeah, she's way more obedient than Evelyn. But when she's mad, she really lets me have it."
Caspian laughed. "Quit whining. If I had a girlfriend like Lillian, I'd be thrilled."
Just then, Evelyn turned around and yelled, "What's taking you two so long? Hurry up and catch up!"
Alexander frowned and asked Caspian, "Is this really your type?"
"She's straightforward. I like that!" Caspian chuckled.
Alexander gave him a side-eye. Caspian claiming he wanted a submissive girlfriend was total nonsense.
The early morning seaside was freezing and windy. Lillian, bundled in a fleece-lined jacket, had her hair blown into a mess. She huddled next to Alexander.
Alexander looked down at her, unzipped his jacket, pulled her into his embrace, and wrapped his jacket around her. "Are you cold? Didn't wear enough layers, huh? I told you so," he said, his tone more caring than complaining.
Lillian's heart raced, her face flushed, and her ears burned. She stared at the sea, unsure of what to say.
They stood quietly, watching the sunrise paint the sea red.
"Still cold?" Alexander asked softly in her ear.
Lillian stiffly shook her head. "Not cold anymore."
Not only was she not cold, but she also felt like her whole body was on fire. His embrace felt magical, warming her up instantly. His scent was intoxicating.
"Your ears are warm, so I guess you're really not cold anymore," Alexander said, rubbing his nose against her ear.
Lillian shivered. Her ears were so sensitive; his touch was almost too much. He was too good at this!
She straightened up, turned slightly to look at him, and said, "Alexander, I'm not cold anymore. Let me go."
"Okay," Alexander agreed.
He let go so easily, leaving Lillian feeling a mix of relief and confusion. She stood by him, feeling oddly disoriented.
Caspian, trying to mimic Alexander, pulled Evelyn's arm to bring her into his embrace. But as soon as his hand touched her wrist, she slapped it away.
"What are you doing? Don't bother me!" Evelyn snapped.
Indignant, Caspian glared at Lillian and Alexander cuddling and said to Evelyn, "I was worried you were cold. What's wrong with that?"
"Thanks for your concern, but I'm wearing plenty," Evelyn said, staring at the sea. "Keep your thoughts to yourself, or don't blame me for being rude!"
Caspian sneered, "Have you ever treated me nicely? You're a superwoman; you don't need a man's concern. You're magnificent!"
"Thanks for the compliment," Evelyn said, looking at him. "I don't need a man, especially not you!"
