Chapter 192 Emily Has Grown up

The next day, Lillian rolled outta bed way late.

Kelly was chillin' on the couch, glued to her phone. She glanced up when Lillian stirred. "You hungry?"

Lillian groaned, wanting to catch more Z's. "Nah."

"Even if you're not hungry, you gotta get up," Kelly said, getting closer. "Mr. Sinclair told me to make sure you eat breakfast before you crash again."

"Is he at the office?" Lillian asked, feeling a bit bummed. "When did he leave?"

Kelly grinned. "He's been gone for a while. It's almost ten. Isn't Emily supposed to come and apologize today?"

Lillian yawned and sat up. After Alexander left last night, she was too hyped to sleep, replaying every kiss in her head.

Kelly tried to help her to the bathroom, but Lillian waved her off. "Kelly, it's just a short walk. I can handle it without risking a miscarriage."

Kelly insisted, holding her arm. "You gotta be careful. You don't have much experience. Lots of pregnant women lose their babies just by sneezing. Don't take it lightly."

Lillian knew Kelly was just looking out for her, so she gave in. "Okay, I'll be careful. No matter where I go, I'll have someone tag along."

"That's the spirit! You think carrying a baby for ten months is a walk in the park?" Kelly said seriously.

Breakfast was whipped up by a hotel chef and brought over by Kevin. Alexander had made a list of Lillian's fave dishes and desserts for the chef to follow.

"Mr. Sinclair is super thoughtful; he personally made the menu," Kelly said with a smile.

Lillian was surprised as she ate. "Really? Does he know me that well?"

Kelly replied, "Spending every day together, how could he not know your tastes?"

"But I don't know his tastes. I only know he drinks porridge for breakfast and hates cilantro. That's it," Lillian said. "I've never heard him say what he likes to eat. Seems like he can eat anything."

Kelly just smiled. "You'll figure it out over time."

As they were munching, someone knocked on the door. It was Michael and Emily.

Michael and Emily walked in and saw Lillian eating. They apologized, "Sorry to interrupt your meal."

Seeing Michael being so polite, Lillian couldn't stay mad and smiled faintly. "It's cool. I'm almost done."

Michael gave Emily a look, and Emily walked over to Lillian. "Oscar won't accept my apology. What should I do?"

She took a deep breath. "I really wanna apologize to him. Michael already chewed me out yesterday, and I get that I messed up. I hope Oscar can forgive me."

Lillian said, "If you ask me, I don't know either. You almost killed him. Put yourself in his shoes. Would you forgive easily? So, don't ask me. Figure it out yourself."

Emily looked at Michael and said, "I wanna stay at the hospital to take care of him and make up for my mistake."

Lillian stared at her, totally floored. "Wait, what? You wanna take care of him?"

Emily nodded, not saying a word.

Lillian looked at Michael, baffled, and chuckled. "Did I hear that right? You hate Oscar, and now you wanna play nurse? That's rich!"

Emily said earnestly, "I'm not kidding. Yesterday's mess was a huge wake-up call. I didn't think a little shove could almost kill someone. But it did!"

She went on, "After Michael chewed me out, I did some serious thinking. I'm an adult now; I can't just act without thinking about the fallout. This whole thing really hit me hard."

Lillian eyed her skeptically, thinking, 'Sure, she sounds sincere, but can she really change?'

"It's good you wanna fix your screw-up," Lillian said, softening a bit. "But Oscar gets pissed just seeing you. He won't let you take care of him. He's got a heart condition. He can't get worked up."

"Maybe just let it go. If he doesn't forgive you now, wait till he's better." Lillian didn't wanna drag it out.

Emily hung her head, staying quiet for a long time. Lillian glanced at Kelly, both of them puzzled. She looked at Michael, who had moved to the couch, looking all detached.

"Alright, Mrs. Sinclair. I'll figure it out myself," Emily said slowly. "Don't worry, Mrs. Sinclair. I'll try not to piss Oscar off."

Lillian didn't know what she was planning and warned her, "Don't mess with him again."

"I know," Emily said humbly. "Mrs. Sinclair, please believe me. I won't do anything to hurt Oscar again!"

Michael walked over and said to Lillian, "Emily gets that she messed up. Let's see how she makes up for it. If anything goes south, we'll stop her right away."

Facing Michael, Lillian couldn't keep the same attitude she had towards Emily. Since he spoke for Emily, she decided to cut him some slack and said, "Alright."

"Then, Mrs. Sinclair, you should rest up. We'll head out," Michael said and left with Emily.

Lillian asked Kelly, "What do you think Emily's gonna do to get Oscar to forgive her?"

Kelly said, "She's got a bad temper but she's smart. Since she said it, she must have a plan. I think she'll probably beg Oscar for forgiveness."

Lillian looked outside and whispered, "No matter what, I won't let Oscar get hurt by her again."

Outside the ward, Emily said to Michael, "You go ahead. I got something to do."

Michael looked at her and asked, "Emily, be straight with me. Have you really thought it through and wanna change, or is there something else going on?"

"You don't believe me?" Emily laughed. "I just feel like I've finally woken up and get it now. Sounds crazy, right? Even a bit ridiculous, but it's true."

She added, "So, Michael, be happy. I've grown up!"
