Chapter 103 Saving the Day

Finnian never thought Diana would catch on, and now, the cops outside had their guns trained on him.

He swallowed hard, then shifted the bundle in front of him. "Oh yeah? What if I point this gun at him?"

Finnian aimed the gun at Cecil's forehead. The clueless baby reached out, trying to grab it.

Honestly, he didn't need a gun to handle a baby, but the shock value was off the charts.

Isolde dropped to her knees, her voice breaking. "No! Don't hurt him! Cecil, I'm here, I'm here to save you."

Robert helped the distraught Isolde up, glaring at Finnian upstairs.

Even as a seasoned lawyer, this scene was beyond anything he'd seen. "Finnian, do you have any conscience left?"

Finnian laughed. "Conscience? This kid's living the good life with his mom. Does he even know I'm his dad? I was just having some fun on the side, like any guy. Don't blame me, blame Isolde for being too petty! My parents are helping her out, and I'm running the company. Yet she can't tolerate such a small thing!"

Everyone was floored by Finnian's audacity.

Isolde screamed, "Cecil's not even a year old! How long have you been with that mistress? And you say your parents take care of me? The servants do everything! They even helped you hide it from me. You use my money to support your mistress, and the company's a mess because of you. And you call that helping?"

Finnian, clearly hit a nerve, pressed the gun harder. The pressure seemed to cause pain, and Cecil couldn't help but start crying loudly.

Jasper whispered, "Don't provoke him."

Diana gently patted Isolde's back. "Don't worry, Cecil will be fine."

Then she turned to Finnian. "As long as you don't hurt the kid, we'll give you what you want. What do you need?"

Finnian didn't hesitate. "Transfer $300 million to my account. Then get me out of here. Once I'm safe, the kid will be too."

"$300 million? Haven't we already given you some?" Diana asked, frowning.

"That was cash, and I didn't get a chance to transfer it before you found me. It's useless to me now," Finnian said, then snapped, "Hurry up! I want $300 million, and I've given you time to get it!"

The cops thought Finnian was nuts.

But Diana said, "Okay! But that's a lot of money, it'll take time."

Charles' money was already in the account, but Diana was stalling. No way was she giving it to him.

Diana shouted, "Watch me transfer it. If something goes wrong, that money's gone."

Finnian peeked at her phone, unsure.

He knew Isolde didn't have that kind of money, but Diana seemed serious.

Finnian ordered, "Come up here, now."

Everyone looked tense, eyes on Diana.

Isolde, tears streaming, mouthed, "Don't go."

Diana lowered her eyes. With Cecil in his hands, they couldn't use force.

But if she went up, she might get a chance to grab the gun and save Cecil.

With that thought, Diana looked up, determined. "Alright, I'm coming up."

Just as Diana was about to step forward, Finnian got suspicious. "Take off your clothes."

Diana frowned. She had rushed out today, wearing a down jacket over a fitted knit dress. "I can't hide anything in this." She took off her coat, glaring at Finnian. "If you make me strip more, I'm done. I'm paying and you're humiliating me."

Finnian got the hint, realizing Isolde had borrowed money from her. "Alright, come up with your hands raised."

Diana followed his instructions, raising her hands in a surrender gesture, and walked up to the second floor.

When she reached Finnian, he nodded for her to start.

Diana wasn't actually going to transfer the money. She just opened some old programs on her phone.

As numbers scrolled on the screen, she made an excuse. "Large transactions need to go through the bank. This is a small channel, so it looks complicated. Soon, the money will be transferred to your account in small amounts."

Finnian was half-convinced but didn't push further. Instead, he shouted downstairs, "Don't just stand there, get me a jet!"

"Who wants a jet?" Suddenly, there was a commotion at the door.

Charles walked in slowly.

Even though Finnian had the upper hand, he couldn't ignore Charles. His tone softened. "Mr. Percy? Why are you here?"

Everyone's eyes turned to Charles.

Jasper, not knowing Charles, tried to pull him back but was stopped by Nolan's glare, so he awkwardly retracted his hand.

Diana was also puzzled by Charles' arrival, but she took advantage of Finnian's distraction. She suddenly raised her elbow and struck Finnian's waist.

Her move was slightly off, only managing to knock Finnian off balance a bit.

The gun in Finnian's hand was almost knocked out, and her action successfully angered him.

Ignoring who was downstairs, he pulled the trigger to deal with Diana. At the critical moment, someone was faster than him.

Diana didn't have time to react before warm blood splattered on her face.

Finnian still held the gun, his eyes full of disbelief.

He wanted to speak, but his throat was blocked by blood, and he fell backward.

Amid the screams, Diana rushed forward to grab Cecil and held him in her arms.

Her bangs were wet with sweat, sticking to her face, looking like she had just been pulled out of the water.

But Diana's eyes were exceptionally bright. She turned to look at the person who had actually fired the shot, Charles.

Their gazes met in the air, and for a moment, it seemed as if time slowed down, the explosion sound seemed to have damaged her ears.

A buzzing sound filled her ears, and the voices around her seemed distant, as if from the horizon.

Isolde took the pale-faced Cecil from Diana's hands, not having time to ask how she was before rushing to take Cecil to the hospital.

Robert supported Diana, seeing her face covered in blood and standing there in a daze.

Thinking she was scared silly, he quickly pulled her into his arms, patting her back like a father, softly saying, "It's okay, Diana."

The next second, Diana felt a pain in her wrist, being pulled out of Robert's arms.

Her waist tightened, and she looked up to see the displeased face of Charles. "What about the conditions you promised me? I lent you the money and helped you solve the problem, how are you going to thank me?"
