Chapter 488 Initiative

Charles gently lifted a strand of Diana's half-dry hair, moving the hairdryer back and forth, side to side.

The hair tickled Diana's neck, making her squirm.

Thinking she was resisting, Charles held her chin steady, his hands never stopping, and said with a smirk, "You've been good today, sticking to our deal."

She had come home on time and hadn't gone out with any other men.

Though she still wore a stern expression, her actions were cooperative.

This contrast made Charles's heart warm, finding her endearing.

Diana had no idea what he was thinking, but hearing him mention the agreement, she suddenly recalled a conversation with Isolde about how she used to make Charles dislike her.

Did she really need to mimic the old Diana to make Charles hate her again?

Her hair was almost dry, and his fingers slipped through the strands, massaging her scalp gently.

A scalp massage along with drying her hair?

Diana felt so comfortable she didn't want to think about anything, sitting cross-legged on the bed, letting him do as he pleased.

About five minutes later, the hairdryer was turned off.

Charles spoke softly, "All done."

Diana opened her eyes, feeling much lighter, and looked at Charles, who was tidying up the hairdryer.

She bit her lip, wondering what the old Diana would do in this situation.

"Charles, come here."

He had just put the hairdryer away when he heard Diana's voice behind him.

He stopped, turned around, and approached her. "What is it?"

Diana hadn't expected him to be so obedient to her command, feeling a bit flustered, but she quickly steadied herself and continued, "Come closer."

This time, Charles bent down slightly, the distance between them no more than a hand's width.

Charles could clearly see the nervousness in her eyes and her trembling eyelashes.

What was she planning?

The question flashed through his mind, and the next second, Diana answered with her actions.

She grabbed his still-tied necktie with a domineering grip, pulling him closer like a dog on a leash.

The restraint on his neck forced him nearer, and her soft lips pressed against his.

Despite the forceful action, the kiss was innocent, just a gentle touch of lips.

A few seconds later, Diana pushed Charles away. She wiped her lips, her demeanor even more domineering than his.

"From now on, no other women around you. Our agreement can't just restrict me."

She then began to observe Charles's expression.

Sure enough, his eyes were red, and he frowned, covering his lips.

With his tie disheveled, he looked like someone who had been forcefully taken advantage of.

Diana felt uncertain, but the old Diana was a possessive and easily jealous girl.

And she was very clingy with Charles.

In other words, she had gradually turned Charles into an enemy.

"I understand. You don't need to worry about these things."

In the past, she didn't care about these things, and Charles hadn't realized that there were indeed many women around him.

Was she finally getting jealous?

Although he didn't know what triggered her jealousy, this change made Charles happy.

Maybe her friends weren't entirely useless; at least she had learned how to be a wife since coming back.

But to Diana, his words had a different meaning.

"Don't worry about it." It sounded like he was telling her not to meddle!

So, he hated clingy, possessive women?

Diana suddenly understood Charles's preferences.

He liked gentle women who supported their husbands and raised their children, women who were devoted to him but not overly possessive, making him lose face in public.

She narrowed her eyes, pleased with her deduction.

With this in mind, she commanded, "Go take a shower. You smell."

There was no actual smell, but her words interrupted Charles, who had wanted to spend more time with her.

He frowned but said nothing, heading to the bathroom.

Once the door was closed, Diana rolled on the bed in silent excitement.

She was grateful for having the old Diana's memories, making it easier to mimic her.

'Go, Diana! The future is in your hands!'

When Charles came out of the bathroom, Diana had already fallen asleep, dreaming of her plans.

Charles paused, not wanting to disturb her. He gently covered her with a light blanket and then lay down beside her.

Half-asleep, Diana felt the mattress dip and remembered her plan.

The next second, she turned over and clung to him like an octopus.

Charles hadn't expected her to be so enthusiastic, her arms around his neck making it hard to breathe.

He pried her arms off, finally getting some fresh air.

Seeing her trying to cling again, Charles quickly replaced her arms with his own.

Diana's cheek rested on his arm, and she mumbled, "No one can take you from me."

This jealous display was exactly what Charles wanted.

In a good mood, he kissed her on the head and naturally wrapped his arm around her waist.

They fell asleep in each other's arms, the atmosphere harmonious.

The next morning, when Diana woke up, Charles had already left for work without waking her.

"Why didn't he wake me to go with him?"

Diana wondered aloud, but there was no one to answer her.

Could it be that he was already tired of her clinginess and starting to distance himself?

With this thought, Diana's eyes lit up, and a new idea popped into her head.

She called for the housekeeper and said, "I'm going out."

The housekeeper looked up, surprised she had the energy to go out.

Charles had left for work early, not waking her so she could rest more.

But Diana wanted to go out as soon as she woke up, indicating the past few days' activities were manageable for her.

"Mrs. Percy, if you want to go out, you need to check with Mr. Percy..."

She was cut off by Diana.

"I'm going to see him. No need to ask. Just arrange for someone to accompany me. And pack a lunch for me. I'm bringing Charles a homemade lunch."

The housekeeper was stunned by Diana's rapid instructions.

Seeing Diana's urging look, she quickly nodded and agreed.

What had Charles done to make Diana go from resisting to being proactive?

The housekeeper was curious but didn't ask, instead going about her tasks.

Diana went upstairs to the walk-in closet originally arranged for her.

The clothes were neatly displayed, looking like a fashion store.

Diana bit her lip, searching for a dress that Charles would hate but the old Diana would love.

Finally, she found a red dress that perfectly met both criteria.
