Chapter 428 Intuition

Elise's eyes widened in shock at the audacity of the words she had just heard. She couldn't believe Claire would dare say such a thing.

A moment later, she let out a scream and swept everything off the table with a furious motion.

The sound of shattering objects brought her a slight sense of relief.

The butler, standing nearby, was too frightened to speak.

Only when she saw Elise calm down did she dare to say, "Mrs. Percy, next time Ms. Murphy comes, I'll have her thrown out. Please don't get upset; it's not worth it to harm your health."

Elise's chest heaved with anger as she flopped back onto the sofa, fanning her face with one hand to cool down. She felt like her anger was burning her up.

After a moment, she spoke, "What are those people watching Charles up to? Have them find out who this woman is."

The butler was momentarily stunned but then respectfully replied, "Yes, Mrs. Percy. I'll have them investigate right away."

With that, she left the room, leaving Elise alone to think.

Right now, Charles was still taking care of that child. For her, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

He probably didn't know the child wasn't Zachary's and was planning to use the child as leverage.

Thinking of this, Elise let out a derisive laugh and muttered, "Charles, you think you're so clever, using a child with an unknown background to threaten me?"

At the Botanical Garden.

Diana and Benjamin were accompanied by two bodyguards as they took the opportunity to visit the botanical garden.

The bodyguards kept a close watch from a short distance as they strolled ahead.

Even though they weren't planning to escape today, Diana still felt uneasy.

She whispered, "When we leave, they'll probably follow us. We need to find a way to deal with them."

Benjamin, understanding the situation, looked at the burly bodyguards and said, "I can't fight them, I'm too small, Mommy."

Diana chuckled, ruffling his hair. "I'm not asking you to fight. Don't worry, I have a plan."

Benjamin nodded, trusting that Diana would handle it.

Suddenly, he stopped and let out a short cry of pain.

Diana turned to see him rubbing his left eye, tears streaming down his face.

"Mommy, there's something in my eye."

"Don't rub it. Let me blow it out for you."

Benjamin tried to hold still, his eyelid twitching uncontrollably.

Diana knelt down, removed her mask, and gently pried his eyelid open with her fingers.

His eye was already red from rubbing.

As she focused on finding the irritant, Benjamin winced from the sharp pain, wanting to close his eye.

In the next moment, Diana blew into his eye, and the pain subsided.

"All better now!"

Benjamin exclaimed in relief, taking off his mask to kiss Diana on the cheek. "Thanks, Mommy."

Diana tapped his forehead lightly, using the moment to teach him, "If something gets in your eye, never rub it. If it's something sharp, you could damage your eye and go blind."

The world was so beautiful, and Benjamin hadn't seen enough of it yet. He nodded quickly, "Got it."

They continued their walk, surrounded by tulips swaying gently in the breeze.

The scene was beautiful, and passersby couldn't help but admire the pair.

Soon, they put their masks back on and resumed their stroll, unaware that someone in the corner was hurriedly leaving with a camera.

At Percy Manor, Elise held a few photographs in her hand.

Her sharp nails dug into the photos, distorting the faces in them.

"Are you sure you took these?"

The man standing beside her bowed his head respectfully, "Mrs. Percy, I took them myself. There's no mistake."

This man had been with Elise for over a decade, and she trusted his abilities.

But the person in the photos had been dead for five years. How could she reappear in Evergreen City?

Elise swallowed hard, trying to steady her emotions. "What does she look like?"

The man was momentarily taken aback by the question but quickly answered, "She looks like she's in her twenties, very young, well-maintained, like a celebrity. Very beautiful. The child next to her also resembles her a bit."

His description was vague but captured Diana's essence.

Before he could finish, Elise interrupted, "Wait, you said the child looks like her?"

Originally, Elise just wanted to confirm if Diana was a ghost or not. But hearing this, she had other thoughts.

She had been too shocked earlier to notice Benjamin's face in the photos. Now, reminded by her subordinate, she saw the resemblance, especially in the eyes.

"Yes, I'm not sure about their identities. Should I continue investigating?"

The man sounded hesitant, unsure if he had said something wrong.

Elise's gaze drifted back to the photos. The woman looked exactly like Diana, who had died five years ago. Elise could recognize her instantly.

As for the child, he was supposed to be Zachary's. He did resemble the Percy family, making it hard for her to tell.

But now, these two seemingly unrelated people appeared in the same photo.

A bold hypothesis formed in Elise's mind.

Could it be that Diana hadn't died, and she had secretly given birth to the child, reuniting with Charles five years later?

The more Elise thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.

Otherwise, why would Charles, known for his ruthlessness, treat Zachary's child so well and suddenly call off the engagement?

Seeing the photos, everything made sense to her.

This family was now happy, while her Zachary was like a rat in the shadows, unable to live freely. Even returning secretly to the country couldn't escape Charles' watch.

Thinking of this, Elise clenched the photos tighter, her teeth almost grinding to dust.

She was filled with hatred. No matter the truth, these two had to die. She wanted Charles to feel the pain of losing his loved ones.

Elise closed her eyes briefly before speaking, "No need to investigate."

"Understood, Mrs. Percy. Then I will..."

"Get rid of both of them," Elise interrupted, lowering her lashes.

She tore the photos into pieces, letting them fall to the ground before stepping on them. "Kill them."

The man, who had been waiting for her orders, was stunned by her words. He looked up at Elise's back, feeling a chill run down his spine.

She took a few steps before stopping again.

The man quickly lowered his head, her soft voice now sounding like a venomous snake, wrapping around his neck, almost suffocating him.

"Have your leader contact me. This matter is not for you to handle. Keep a close watch on them."

"Yes, Mrs. Percy."
