Chapter 532 Love Rival

Why did she show up at the Percy Group again? Why didn't she come to find him when she was alive...

Billy's mind was racing with questions when a knock on the door pulled him back to reality.

"Can I come in?" a familiar voice asked.

Billy nodded instinctively, then remembered she couldn't see him. He quickly cleared his throat and said softly, "Yeah, come in."

Diana turned the doorknob and walked in.

Billy, sitting on the couch, straightened up. He looked more mature than he did five years ago, but his eyes, which had a slight droop at the corners, turned red when he saw her.

They both fell silent.

Diana felt awkward, while Billy's eyes welled up with tears.

He had already cried a lot when he found out she was still alive and had even talked to her on the phone. But now, seeing her in person, he couldn't hold back.

"Long time no see," he said, his voice dry and strained, as if it took all his strength to get the words out.

Diana gave a small smile. "Long time no see. How about we go to the café downstairs?"

Billy was momentarily stunned, then nodded. "Sure."

As Abigail nervously exited the CEO's office, she saw the two of them getting into the elevator together.

She clutched her phone, recalling Nolan's instructions: 'Follow them, but don't get caught.'

Abigail scratched her head, wondering if she was a secretary or a spy.

But since it was Charles's order, she had no choice. She put on sunglasses and a scarf for a simple disguise and followed them.

Diana and Billy chose a familiar café to talk. They sat facing each other, and from a distance, it didn't seem like they were saying much.

Abigail couldn't hear their conversation, so she pressed against the glass and snapped a few photos.

She sent them to Nolan with a complaint: [Nolan, I'm a secretary, not a spy. This is the best I can do.]

Nolan didn't reply but quickly forwarded the photos to Charles.

After some fuss, Charles, who was far away in the hospital, finally saw the man's face on his phone.

The guy looked younger than him...

Eugene, who was peeling an apple nearby, noticed Charles staring at his phone and asked curiously, "What are you looking at?"

Charles turned the phone around with a gloomy expression.

Eugene leaned in to take a look and his eyes widened. "Isn't this..."

"You know him?" Charles asked.

"Of course," Eugene said, seeing Charles's tense expression and deciding to tease him. He took a bite of the apple and chewed slowly.

When Charles was about to explode, Eugene finally spoke. "Your rival in love. This guy's no joke. Diana almost married him. Back when you were giving her a hard time, he played the hero saving the damsel in distress more than once."

As expected, Charles's expression darkened even more. His voice was dry. "I bullied her."

"Yeah, you did. If I were her, I would've chopped you up a long time ago. She's still helping you run the company. Women are just too kind."

Charles's eyes darkened further, and he clenched his fists tighter. He couldn't leave the hospital now, or he would have confronted her in person.

"But Diana still married me. Why are they together now?"

"He's trying to steal her away. Now's the perfect time," Eugene said nonchalantly.

"He's a homewrecker!" Charles's voice rose.

Even though the man on the screen looked gentle and refined, he seemed ugly in Charles's eyes.

Eugene found Charles's urgency amusing and continued to tease him while munching on the apple.

"So what? There's nothing you can do about it. Diana's out there working for you. You should focus on getting better."

Charles clenched his fists, feeling a mix of panic and helplessness. He had no confidence. He didn't remember anything.

But he couldn't just sit back and watch Diana be taken away by someone else.

"You have to help me."

"Me?" Eugene swallowed the apple and pointed at himself, a bit confused. "What can I do? You don't even remember me."

"Go to the company and keep an eye on her. And my brother."

Even though Charles didn't remember, he hadn't lost his knack for using people.

"You trust me that much? The company has a lot of secrets. Aren't you afraid..."

Before Eugene could finish, he saw Charles's smile with a hidden threat and swallowed hard, changing his tone.

"Of course, I can help. I'm your captain, after all. This is a small matter. I'll help, I'll help."

---

At dusk, Diana finished her day's work and went to the hospital to see Charles.

He had looked so miserable when he fell out of bed earlier. In the afternoon, she had received a message from the nurse saying he was in a bad mood, staring out the window.

Maybe it was out of sympathy or something else, but Diana came to the hospital.

She pushed open the door to the room and saw Charles leaning against the bed.

The sunset cast a glow on his face, his eyelashes casting a small shadow. As he blinked, the shadow fluttered like a butterfly's wings.

The nurse got up and greeted her, then left the room for the two of them.

Charles didn't look at her even when Diana walked to the bedside.

Diana raised an eyebrow, puzzled. Who had upset him now?

"Charles? What's wrong?"

Could it be that he was upset because she had left in a hurry earlier?

If that was the case, she wasn't in the mood to comfort him.

The room was silent. Just when Diana thought Charles wouldn't answer, he finally spoke.

"Eugene came by."

"Okay."

Diana didn't think much of it. Eugene, being one of Charles's few good friends and having a lot of free time, visiting him was normal.

But Charles's mood was off. He continued, "He told me a lot about us. I was really bad to you before..."

His voice trembled slightly, as if he was holding something back.

Diana crossed her arms and sat down, staying silent about the topic he brought up.

But the next second, her face stiffened, and she became flustered.

Charles, who had been facing away from her, suddenly turned his head.

His sickly face was streaked with tears, his thick eyelashes wet, hanging low. He looked like an abandoned stray dog, his lips moving as he spoke.

"I understand why you said our relationship was bad. I'm really sorry. I didn't know the older me would do so many terrible things to you..."

As he deeply repented, Diana's mind went blank.

Charles was crying. He was actually crying?

A sense of horror washed over her. She instinctively reached out to touch his tears, confirming they were real, which made it even more absurd.

The cold, ruthless, high-and-mighty Charles, crying and repenting?

Maybe he was too sad, his voice started to choke with sobs, like a child longing for a hug. He grabbed Diana's hand and clumsily pulled her into his arms.

Diana bent over, her butt hanging in the air, her upper body tightly held by Charles. Maintaining this position was not easy.

Charles was tall and strong, even when sick, he could still envelop her.

His chin rested on Diana's shoulder, his tears falling onto her neck, feeling cold.

"I'm sorry."
