Chapter 407 Stay

Diana was eavesdropping nearby, but Nolan was careful with his words, only giving vague information before stepping aside and falling silent.

"Get me a blanket and take Benjamin home," Charles said, flipping through a few pages of a document.

Nolan was taken aback and looked around before asking, "Are you planning to sleep here tonight?"

He glanced at Diana on the bed and then lowered his voice, "Mr. Percy, if you're worried, I can arrange for a nurse to take care of Ms. Wipere."

"Nolan, since when did you become so chatty? Just do what I said," Charles replied impatiently, glaring at him.

Nolan looked conflicted. Although this was a VIP room, it only had a sofa. It was one thing for Charles to work here, but to sleep here too?

Diana had just choked on water, she wasn't paralyzed. Did she really need such close care?

But orders were orders, and Nolan had no choice but to comply. After all, it wasn't his body that would feel sore from sleeping here.

With a sigh of resignation, he left to carry out his tasks.

Once he was gone, Diana spoke up, "Mr. Percy, you should take Benjamin home. I'll be fine here alone; I don't need anyone to stay with me."

"Who said I was staying to keep you company? This place is close to the office and quiet, perfect for working," Charles retorted, opening his laptop.

Diana was speechless.

Hospitals were inherently noisy, even in VIP rooms. There were always family members causing a ruckus outside, and nurses checking in multiple times a day. How was this place suitable for work?

He was clearly making excuses to stay.

Benjamin, hearing this, pouted and said stubbornly, "If Mr. Percy can stay, I want to stay too."

"What use would you be here?" Charles shot back, rejecting him without hesitation.

Diana, trying to keep her frustration in check, patted Benjamin's head and explained, "There are too many people in the hospital. You're still young, and it wouldn't be good if you caught something."

"But Mr. Percy..."

"I'm an adult," Charles said coldly, typing away on his keyboard.

"Mr. Percy, you should go home too. You won't get any rest here," Diana said, her head throbbing from their bickering. She just wanted some peace and quiet, away from these two.

As the three of them were at an impasse, Nolan returned with a blanket.

"Mr. Percy, here's the blanket you asked for."

"Nolan, please take them both home. I'll be fine here alone," Diana pleaded.

Nolan shook his head and efficiently set up the blanket on the sofa. "Mr. Percy wants to stay here. I'm sure he has his reasons. As for Benjamin..."

He paused, looking at Benjamin. "You should come with me. There are doctors and Mr. Percy here; Ms. Wipere will be fine."

Diana nodded in agreement. "I'll be home in a couple of days. Be good and wait for me there."

With all three of them insisting, Benjamin reluctantly agreed, following Nolan out after a bit of coaxing.

The room fell silent, leaving just Diana and Charles.

Charles continued to work on the sofa, the sound of his typing creating a rhythmic, almost hypnotic background noise.

After all the social interaction, Diana found her eyelids growing heavy.

As the sun set and the room grew dim, Charles finally stopped, rubbing his stiff neck.

He glanced at the small lamp by the bed and saw Diana, curled up and motionless under the covers.

He shut down his laptop and checked the time. It was past dinner. She had been sleeping since the afternoon; he wondered if she would wake up for dinner.

Charles hesitated, debating whether to wake her or let her sleep.

Diana slept peacefully, her long eyelashes casting shadows on her cheeks. Her lips were slightly parted, and her breathing was steady. One hand was curled up near her ear, making her look serene.

Standing by the bed, Charles felt a surge of emotion. He reached out and gently touched her eyelashes, as if handling a delicate piece of art.

When her eyelids fluttered, he moved his fingers to her cheek, nose, and lips. Her warm breath on his fingers made his heart skip a beat.

Without much thought, he bent down, intending to kiss her.

Diana suddenly coughed lightly, making him freeze.

She opened her sleepy eyes, taking a moment to remember she was in the hospital.

Charles quickly released her chin and straightened up, acting as if nothing had happened.

Diana, noticing his odd behavior, asked in a hoarse voice, "What were you doing just now?"

Charles raised a hand and made a pinching motion. "You had a hair on your face," he said, rubbing his fingers together.

Seeing her skeptical look, he smoothly changed the subject. "Are you hungry? You've been sleeping for a long time. I was about to wake you for dinner."

At the mention of food, Diana's stomach growled loudly. She blushed and nodded, covering her rebellious stomach.

Charles smirked, put on his coat, and said, "Wait here," before rushing out.

Diana sat up, her mind replaying the scene of Charles leaning in.

Something felt off. Was it really just a hair?

At the White Mansion, the atmosphere was tense.

The servants had been sent outside, instructed not to disturb the family meeting.

Oliver sat on the sofa, rubbing his temples with a pained expression.

Next to him, Calista held a sobbing Stella, gently patting her back and murmuring comforting words.

Since the afternoon incident, Stella had been inconsolable. Her phone had been ringing non-stop with calls from her manager, but she ignored them all.

Charles had bypassed any PR strategy and directly announced their breakup.

Stella's phone buzzed incessantly, but she had tossed it aside, trying to avoid the reality of the situation.

Her rivals were undoubtedly celebrating, and the internet was likely filled with mocking comments.

As a celebrity, Stella had never faced such hardship.

While other aspiring stars struggled for roles, she had been handed lead parts effortlessly, all thanks to the backing of the Percy Group.
