Chapter 376 Substitute

Diana's heart pounded as she picked up her pace. Only a fool would stop at a time like this!

Charles took a deep breath and ordered Nolan, "Get her back."

Nolan nodded and sent the men in black after her.

The whole scene happened so fast that Stella was left in shock.

"Charles? What's going on? Did she hurt you?"

"No," Charles replied shortly, his eyes glued to the door, waiting for Diana to return.

It wasn't long before the men in black brought Diana back.

She frowned deeply and, as soon as she steadied herself, said, "You've got someone else to take care of you. Why can't I leave?"

Her words came out in a rush, revealing her original voice in her anger, but Charles seemed not to notice. He responded coldly, "Who said I wanted her to take care of me?"

Stella, hearing their exchange, finally pieced together what was happening.

What did this mean? Was she, the legitimate fiancée, less important than this woman of unknown origin?

When she first entered the hospital room, she had noticed Diana, but since Diana was wearing a hospital uniform and standing next to Milan, she assumed she was just a nurse.

But why would Charles be so concerned about an ordinary nurse?

Clearly, this woman was not ordinary.

Stella bit her lip, feeling a bit hurt. "Charles, I can take care of you."

"No need."

Charles cut her off quickly.

Eugene, standing nearby, stroked his chin, trying to figure out what was so special about Diana that made Charles so insistent.

Suddenly, an idea struck him. He reached out with his long arm and pulled off Diana's mask from the side, revealing her face.

Diana didn't have time to react, and her entire face was exposed to everyone.

She quickly covered her face but still saw Charles' pupils contract, his gaze deep and intense.

It was over. She had been discovered.

"Beautiful lady, don't be shy. I just wanted to see..."

Eugene's tone was playful as he moved in front of her, but his expression froze before he could finish his sentence.

He looked as if he had seen a ghost.

"You, Diana?"

The room fell into a dead silence.

Nolan, who had also seen her face clearly, felt his mind go blank. He even wondered if he was dreaming.

After pinching his arm secretly, he confirmed that everything was real.

How was this possible?

If Eugene was merely shocked to see Benjamin's face, seeing Diana here was terrifying.

A person who had been dead for five years, someone they had watched being buried, how could she suddenly appear here?

"What?"

Stella spoke suddenly, her voice filled with disbelief. Had she heard the name of her nightmare, Diana?

"You've got the wrong person." Diana's tone was cold.

At this point, there was no use in hiding. She simply lowered her hands, adopting a straightforward and unflinching demeanor.

Eugene snapped out of his daze at her voice, his gaze shifting between Diana and Stella. An absurd idea formed in his mind.

Could it be that this nurse resembled Diana more than Stella, which was why Charles was so intent on keeping her?

The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.

After all, this was more reasonable than someone coming back from the dead.

He leaned closer to Charles and whispered, "Is this Diana's new lookalike? She looks just like her!"

"Yeah, very similar."

Charles followed Eugene's lead, but his eyes stayed locked on Diana, lost in thought.

Seeing his reaction, Eugene felt more certain. It had to be someone who looked similar. If it were the real Diana, Charles would have lost his mind, not stayed so calm.

But he didn't notice that Charles' hand was gripping the bedsheet tightly, almost tearing it.

Stella's attention was also on Diana. Her light-colored eyes, pink lips, and delicate nose gave her a cool demeanor.

More importantly, she resembled Stella by about eighty percent.

She stepped forward, her tone serious, "Who are you? Why are you imitating me?"

Then she turned to Charles, "Charles, this woman is suspicious. She's trying to get close to you with her looks. Don't be fooled by her."

Diana raised an eyebrow, Stella's words giving her an idea.

She lifted her head, her gaze meeting Charles'.

After five years, they met again.

Her eyes flickered, but she turned away and said to Stella, "I don't know what you're talking about. But miss, there are many people who look alike in this world. I don't want to get close to anyone or deceive anyone."

She paused for a moment and continued, "I'll say it again. I don't want to take care of Mr. Percy. Please handle it yourselves. I'm leaving."

Charles, who had been relatively calm, suddenly darkened at these words.

"Who said you could leave?"

Despite his injuries, his commanding presence was impossible to ignore.

Diana paused, not because she was scared, but because the two men in black blocked her path like a wall.

He was still so domineering!

Anger surged within Diana. She turned around, her gaze fearless as she glared back at him.

"My legs are mine. Why can't I leave?"

The same tone, the same look, the same courage.

Eugene's heart raced. He had finally convinced himself of his earlier guess, but now he was wavering again.

Charles' Adam's apple bobbed, his cold face suddenly calm.

He closed his eyes briefly and then said, "Everyone else, leave."

With that, Nolan and the men in black quickly cleared the room.

Stella, frustrated, protested, "Charles, why do I have to leave? I'm your fiancée. What can't I hear?"

Her intuition told her that this woman could threaten her position.

"Please leave, Ms. White. Mr. Percy will be upset if you stay," Nolan advised softly.

Even Eugene, whose curiosity was burning, left the room, let alone Stella.

She bit her lip, seeing Charles' increasingly cold gaze, and finally left.

With the door closed, only Charles and Diana remained in the room.

Given Charles' injuries, Diana wasn't afraid of him using force.

Although she didn't know why Charles hadn't recognized her, it was better for her if he didn't.

Her eyes were cold as she said, "Mr. Percy, there's nothing for us to discuss."

Charles raised his uninjured hand to cover his mouth as he coughed, then slowly spoke, "When we first met, I told you that you looked like my wife."

"You did. I do resemble that lady, but I have no intention of interfering in your marriage."

"Not her. My real wife."

Charles looked up at her, his eyes resembling a deep, misty pool.

Diana's heart skipped a beat, and she looked away.

"I'm not interested in your family."
